Chapter 36: Luna

Chapter 36: Luna

Luna's voice echoed through the darkening forest like a chilling whisper, stopping the fleeing figure dead in his tracks. It wasn't just the sound of her voice that froze him; it was the overwhelming presence that loomed over him, as if the air itself had turned heavy and oppressive.

"Running away, are we?" Luna's tone was teasing, almost amused. "I thought you were a dragon slayer? Surely, you can handle one girl."

The figure clenched his fists, every fiber of his being screaming at him to keep running. But he knew, deep down, that escaping was no longer an option. His mind raced for an alternative. Perhaps if he could strike at her first—catch her off guard—there might be a slim chance of survival.

He spun around, his movements honed through countless battles, drawing a blade from his side. With a snarl, he slashed at the space in front of him, sending a razor-thin arc of energy towards where Luna stood. It cut through the air with deadly precision, aimed directly at her throat.

Luna didn't flinch.

In an instant, the energy dissipated, vanishing before it could even come close to her. She remained still, her eyes glowing faintly in the dim light. The figure's confidence shattered.

"Nice try," Luna said, her voice low and dangerous. "But you're out of your league."

Before he could react, Luna moved. She was a blur, faster than anything he'd ever seen. One moment, she stood several feet away; the next, she was right in front of him, her face mere inches from his. The figure gasped, staggering backward, but it was too late.

Luna's hand shot forward, grabbing his wrist with inhuman strength. He felt his bones creak under the pressure, and a wave of terror washed over him as he realized he couldn't break free.

"I'll ask this once," Luna said, her voice cold as ice. "Who sent you to spy on my brother?"

The figure gritted his teeth, his eyes darting around for an escape route, but there was none. He was trapped. His mind whirled with thoughts of betrayal, fear, and the certainty of his demise if he spoke.

"I—no one! We were just curious, nothing more!" he spat, desperately trying to sound convincing. "The brat just caught our attention. That's all!"

Luna's grip tightened, and the man cried out in pain. "Lies. You reek of fear," she hissed. "But it's not fear of me, is it? It's fear of what waits for you if you fail your mission. Who do you fear more than me?"

The figure's eyes widened, panic setting in. He tried to resist, but the words slipped out before he could stop himself. "The Council… they sent us. We were to observe the boy, report back—nothing more!"

"The Council?" Luna's expression darkened. "Those old fools still meddling in things they don't understand?"

He nodded frantically. "We had no choice! We were given orders… they said the boy is a threat."

"A threat?" Luna tilted her head, her voice laced with curiosity. "To whom, I wonder?"

The man remained silent, but the answer was clear. Axis was no ordinary child. Even without his memories, he was destined for something far greater. And now, the Council had taken notice.

Luna's gaze softened slightly, though her grip didn't. "You should have stayed in the shadows. Now, you've brought the storm to your door."

Before the figure could even beg for mercy, Luna released him. His body collapsed to the ground, trembling uncontrollably. She looked down at him, her expression unreadable.

"Run back to your masters," Luna said coldly. "Tell them the White Lioness has returned. And if they dare make a move against my family again… they won't live to regret it."

The figure wasted no time. He scrambled to his feet, running as fast as his legs would carry him, vanishing into the shadows.

Luna watched him go, her eyes narrowing.

"Let them come," she muttered to herself. "They'll regret underestimating us."

" isn't it the right mother ? " Luna asked, looking at the direction of the mansion.

Back in the mansion.

Axis's room was a mess because of Mathrilda turning his entire wardrobe upside down in name of packing his luggage.

Throwing away most as they were either too big or too small.

" forget it .. " with a sigh Mathrilda said " i will just buy u them when we get to my estate " saying so she picked some which fit axis and some spares and put it in her ring.

" How did you put it in your ring ? "

" it's not really a normal ring its a device that has space of a whole room in it will give u one when we get to my estate now go sleep i am gonna go talk to your mother "

" okey "

Mathrilda closed the door behind as she left.
