(Day 176) Aprilis 20th, 12th year of the Dragon, Age of Enlightenment
The Announcements were made, and preparations began. The next morning the Coronation went on without incident. Adam led the Lord and Ladies in the Vow, though he did not finish the Vow with them. He asked the King to make sure each Lord and Lady had done so in his interface just to be sure. Once confirmed there was applause throughout the Throne room and a celebration began that spread throughout the whole city. While the King was talking to the nobles Adam found the Captain of the Guard.
“Captain”
“Adamantadine,” he said with a nod.
“I charge you with keeping King Tavor safe. I will be very displeased if anything happens to the new King. I will be doing what I can to help but I will need to leave the city for a bit. Please make sure he is guarded at all times.”
“It will be as you say Adamantadine.”
Adam nodded, left the Captain to his duty, and found the King. “King Tavor?”
“Yes Adamantadine, what can I do for you?” he asked.
“I will be leaving at noon today. Freya will have a way for you to get in contact with me if you need me. Keep her close and she will keep you safe. The Council will be preparing to retaliate and being away from here will probably be best for the city. Also, just a suggestion. Let others champion any formal duels. In fact, I will be that champion should you need me. Just have Freya reach out to me. Finally, your majesty. Congratulations!”
“Thank you, Adam, for everything. If I might ask, how long before you deal with the Council?” he asked softly.
“Soon, very soon.” Adam answered.
“Well then, I must mingle with my people and do what a proper king must do, then I must fix some things that were left unattended these last eight days. Not a criticism of your handling of the situation. More criticism of those who knew you weren’t leaving the throne room taking small advantages here and there. I need to make sure everything is back to the way it was when King Liam II died.”

“Understood King Tavor, and no need to placate me. I am quite sure that the list of things I failed to do that needed to be done here was quite long. I turned off my notifications regarding the Kingdom, except for warnings of course, so I wouldn’t be tempted to become a tyrant due to all the benefits someone receives for being King. My will is strong, but I am still only human. Also, I knew I had someone to replace me, or that the Lords and Ladies would eventually find someone to replace me. Now I must leave you to your duties while I find Freya and then head out. Good day, King Tavor.” He said bowing.
“Good day Adamantadine”
Rising from his bow, Adam found Freya off in a side room sitting by herself drinking a glass of wine. “Are you well?” Adam asked.
“Yes, I just needed a break from the crowds. I know I’m going to have to be near him while you are gone, and I overheard that you are leaving?” she asked.
“Yes. Also, I needed to ask if you know a way we can communicate with each other while 500 miles apart.
“Yes, I can contact any Cleric of Serena at any distance unless the Goddess is shielding them. If needed I should be able to call for you.”
“Good, I am going to do some traveling. I want to check out the local area and maybe look into that Kingdom to our south. First, though I think I need to have a more lengthy conversation with our Lady to find out exactly what she expects of me. If you need me, call. If you can try to give me a little warning I can get here within a minute or so. Otherwise, I will need to teleport. I have the spell but have not tried it yet so don’t know if it’s safe.”
“Teleport is an extremely versatile and useful spell. It will allow you to go to any location you have been to or teleport to any person you know. You merely need to put that person or place in your mind’s eye and will yourself to be where it, or they, are. Your Perfect Memory ability makes it so there is absolutely no way to mess up and appear somewhere else. It’s actually one of the hidden perks of that ability.” She said.
“Well, that’s good to know. I’d also like to say thank you for stepping up to do this for King Tavor. He is going to need both of our help for a little bit to come I’m afraid.”
“He is. In fact, there’s a Lady who is looking for a new husband and moving to talk to him. By your leave, I must already go save our new King from the tender mercies of the Lady Margaret Kolson. Then I’ll return to the Celebration. Safe Journey Adam”
“You too Freya,” he said as both walked out.
