It took another two weeks to make sure everything was ready. Abi was safely back in his subconscious. Johnathan was now quantumly linked to Thor, Abi, and his copy. An exact quantum copy of Johnathan had been created over the last two weeks and Thor had figured out how to place the construct in an energy matrix so it wouldn’t deteriorate. The one thing they hadn’t been able to duplicate was the Adamantium Ring. Abi thought it had to do with the inherent magical quality from the originating dimension or universe. There was probably some truth to that theory.
“I wouldn’t worry about it too much, Johnathan.” she’d said while they discussed the ring. “If I’m correct I’m pretty sure that item is soulbound to you. Once we get over there it should take but a moment to make sure. If the ring is soul bound to you, should you die, the ring will reappear where you do.” Abi had said.
It had been weird being able to move back and forth between the two bodies. Which still begged the question, where was his soul? Though he’d stopped worrying about it. He didn’t want to become like McCoy from the original Star Trek novels. He’d been so obsessed about his soul that he’d never wanted to use transporters. He been afraid when the transporter moved his body that his soul would be left behind. Jonathan tested the ability to move his consciousness by creating a total of three bodies. He was in his original body and there was one in a stasis that would be reawakened should something happen to the body he was going to go through the portal with. The third had been created, moved into, moved out of then destroyed just to make sure there were no ill effects. He’d considered trying to go multiple, an idea where one mind shared multiple bodies. He’d come across the idea in a series he’d read by one of the best science fiction authors he’d ever come across, but if he was going to another Universe he didn’t know if the concept would work there, or the magic would make it impossible. The other thing that had slowed him down was making sure Amanda, Thor, and Abi had all the information they needed to ensure things kept on going smoothly on Earth.
While he was gone he’d set the three of them up as a committee. Each had ultimate veto power over any idea that seemed too extreme but with Amanda as the moral compass, he wasn’t really worried. Ultimately it still all fell back to him but it was nice knowing that while he was gone he wouldn’t have to worry about anything. Johnathan had also set up specific responses to specific conditions should they occur. Otherwise, there could be any number of hypothetical problems, but Johnathan believed any problems a man or woman might try to make against his efforts, or Thor, directly could be thwarted, without the need to kill them.
In fact, some crazy religious radicals with no sense of just how outclassed they were still tried to make plans to kill him and kept on getting shunted off-planet. Their ideology was going to die with them if they kept up their bullshit. As it was they were aging, and they were all sterile at this point. No need for kids to be born into that crap fest of that level of crazy.
Johnathan also tasked Thor with ensuring that Earth and any other location with Humans on it were safe from natural disasters as well as possible alien ones. That had put Thor into theoretical and problem-solving mode which was impressive to behold. Some of the defenses and weapons he’d come up with were based on some of the best Science Fiction Johnathan had ever read. This was probably due to Abi having some influence on him. Science Fiction was one of her go-to genres these days. Some of those defenses were going to be placed just outside the Oort Cloud and at about the same distance from Trappist-1.
As for the social justice warriors and the woke activists. The technology that he’d invented made it possible for anyone to be whatever sex or gender they wished and to change how they looked so if they wanted to be female or male they could be with working body parts to include the ability to reproduce. Figuring that out had taken Thor 3 full seconds at his current processing power. Johnathan had set a very clear rule and unlike the religious radicals, it only took three or four people getting sent off to their own planet to get the lesson across to everyone. Anyone could declare whatever they wanted to declare but the moment they tried to force someone to refer to them in a certain way their ass was on another planet. “
At one point Johnathan had actually taken the time to visit three of the most outspoken activists. He’d had Thor take them over on Trappist-1E and bring them through a portal to Earth where he’d frozen them in a standing position, unable to talk or move, only to listen and see. Then he’d reverted them to the state they’d been in before their transformations. Once that was done he’d put a mirror in front of all three and showed them the changes before he began talking.
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“This talk is going to be short and sweet. Learn from it or you will be locked into the body you now see until you die of old age. I have frozen you because, One, I truly give zero fucks about anything thing you might say, and two, you are idiots. You're trying to argue and whine to someone that can for all intents and purposes kill you with a thought. I’ll say it again for the slow people in the room, Kill you with a thought. Also, understand that I would not lose any sleep doing so. “Three, I am so far ahead and above you,” Johnathan paused for a moment as he looked thoughtful, “I’ll just show you. Demonstration Time!”
Johnathan summoned a cubic foot of Osmium that had a handle on it. He lifted it one-handed in front of them and held it while a timer appeared with a stopwatch. Then he had two more appear and started to juggle them. While he was juggling them he said “Each of these is one cubic foot of Osmium. A cubic foot of Osmium weighs 1,410 pounds. With the handles, these weigh 1,415 pounds. I am juggling three of them and this isn’t even 1/10th of how much I can lift.” Looking at their eyes he noted the smirks because they thought he was lying to them. Dumb ass kids.
He stopped juggling and put one in front of each of them with the handle at the top. “Spoiler, this is going to fucking hurt.” He commanded the nanites in each of their bodies to make their bodies try to lift the Osmium disregarding all pain receptors and physical limitations that helped someone not hurt themselves. Each body tried to obey until their shoulders dislocated, backs gave out and muscles strained and ripped. Because they couldn’t stop or scream, Johnathan watched their eyes. When all three had passed out. He stopped them. Had the nanites repair their bodies and had them stand back up while he waited until they woke up. Once they were fully healed each woke up quickly.
Continuing as if he hadn’t stopped “Four, I’m tired of the bullshit your social group keeps trying. In the Universe, there is only one law that matters. Survival of the fittest. Or one of the older rules. Might makes right. As you just realized I could punch each of your heads, clean off your shoulder, I’m not bragging, that’s a fact. I was smart enough to create an A.I. and nanotechnology and have the ability to use that technology to modify anything into anything else. Create matter from nothing and even living matter into somethin In the ocean, sharks rule. There are sharks that think they’re shit and attack anything that enters their area. Well, there are always bigger sharks in the ocean. This shark is telling the three baby sharks in front of him that if they want the advantages Papa Shark is giving everyone else they can start behaving and following the rules or they can have those advantages taken away and swim in a very lonely pond until they die of old age, get cancer, or another disease, whichever kills them first. People that follow the rules will not be dying of diseases or old age,” Johnathan said as he had the Osmium disappear and then allowed their bodies to revert to the way they’d wanted them. All three had moisture in their eyes as they watched their bodies revert to the way they’d wanted them.
Johnathan looked each squarely in the eyes before he said, “I want you to be happy with the choices you make. I have absolutely no issue with allowing you to make any changes to your bodies that you can imagine so long as the changes aren't self-destructive or dangerous to you or others. What I have a problem with specifically is when anyone tries to compel the speech of anyone else. The only person that would get to do that would be me, and I’m not doing that unless the diarrhea coming out of someone’s mouth is a lie or three asshats are too fucking stupid to shut their pie holes and listen to the one person that can actually destroy them without lifting a finger or issuing a verbal command. In that case, I will silence said asshats, so they have no choice but to listen. Otherwise, I do not tell people what they will say or how they will refer to me. Although I think the last count for the word ‘asshole’ was in the millions.”
Johnathan paused for a moment, noting the hint of fear in their eyes. “We will not talk again. Follow the rules on Trappist-1e for four months and you’ll be back with your friends on Earth. Once you get back, if any of you continue to try to impose your wills on anyone else you will get reverted to your original self without the ability to ever change yourself again and you will eventually die, much sooner than anyone else.” Three portals opened to their rooms on Trappist-1e, they stepped through, and the portals closed. He’d become absolutely sick of people believing compelled speech was free speech. Such idiocy needed to be stamped out now if they were ever going to take full advantage of the tools he’d made available to the human race. “Thor”
“I heard; orders noted.”
“Don’t put up with any of that crap anywhere on the planet. The Constitution’s 1st Amendment is the rule of thumb I want to go with for the most part. There are exceptions, but the only people who get to make those exceptions anymore are Me, Amanda, Abi, and you.
“Understood,” Thor answered.
After those few items were cleared up Thor started to search for a suitable location for Johnathan to head off to another Universe from.
