The humans who walked through those gates didnt seem enslaved or trapped; they moved with purpose, their faces calm, even cold.

What could this purpose be? The juxtaposition made my stomach twist.

No one could tell, by mere looking that they could shift into something so dangerous.

And this very fact, made dread to settle in my chest.

What if monsters like them had been living between us all these years? Hidden.

And we had no clue of them.

That monster was one of them....

I ducked through as the wagon rolled inside, holding my breath as I crossed into the castle s courtyard.
