Chapter 4: Immature Class

Chapter 4: Immature Class

A few students that realized what was going tried to contest Professor Collin through his mana absorption.  They were all most likely nobles and failed miserably against a professor from a commoner’s family. To not even give them control of the mana within their own vicinity, he had shamed them all. Collin did this knowingly, hoping that none of the students would realize it in his fit of anger. His optimism had failed him too many times these past two days. His encounter with Isaac made him irritable. He quickly stopped his mana absorption before others would notice.

The particular class had no enforcers, a branch of the student council that kept the students in check, supervised by  few professors specializing in combat magic. The headmaster denied him enforcers during his period since he knew that he could easily subdue his students without much help.

‘It would be irresponsible for me to allow this to continue any longer’ Before he could move, he saw Cecelia disarm the student with the sword-type MAD and restrain both of them with only two hands.

“C-Class is over, I guess?” A student muttered to himself.

“Not at all. Class will resume shortly” Cecelia said looking around at the students in the lecture hall. “We need to talk. it’ll only take a few minutes.” She pushed both boys in opposite direction before stepping closer together. Before she went outside the lecture hall together with Collin, she glared the two students who started fighting. “Behave yourselves.” The boys could only flinch back in response.

“What is this about? You interrupted my class.” Collin was thankful, but his relationship with Cecelia wasn’t the best, especially since last night.

“Why did you let him go?”

“What are you talking about—“

“I know you let him go! You didn’t even use your inner mana when you fought him—“

“Shut up shut up shut up shut up…” Collin quickly put his hand over Cecelia’s lips. He looked around the corridors outside the lecture hall and since the students seemed preoccupied with those two students again, no one seemed to pay attention at that critical moment. “Are you fucking crazy!? You know what would happen to me if that got out? Only magical beasts have inner mana! He didn’t seem like much of a bad guy anyway!” He retorted.

“Goddamn it Collin!” Tears began swelling up in her eyes as painful memories flooded her mind. “He killed my whole team and my husband! Did you think I've been tracking him all these years for fun? Even if you didn't know, you knew he was a high-priority target and you intentionally let him get away. Blake was right... You're a disgrace.”

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Collin was taken aback. “What? I-I’m sorry Cecelia. I didn’t mean—“

She quickly ran away from him the moment she caught herself crying. She didn’t like anyone seeing her weak side.

Collin began having his own flashback of his childhood memories, seeing Cecelia's back get smaller and smaller through the corridor.

“Are you crying? What does a monster know of human emotions? Get back in the cellar.” The clashing sound of the metal door against the opening woke Collin out of his memories.

He breathed heavily as the memory shook his core. ‘I thought I’d forgotten about it already… I’ve been having real bad luck lately…' He reentered the lecture hall. The whole class was focused on the two students. Collin didn’t feel like dealing with it.

“Everyone take their seats. Class will resume. If another outburst occurs, I’ll deal with it myself.”

Silence swept the lecture hall, broken by a student, failing to contain his laughter.

“Pfff… HAhahahaAHHAaha” The whole class began to laugh. They mocked him from all directions.

“What can a magic history professor do anyway?”

“Did you hear this man? This professor’s hilarious!”

“I can probably take him!”

“You can’t even use magic. “

“I know. Kekeke.”

Only the students that contested the professor stayed silent.

“Everyone, shut up!” Collin yelled at the class.

“Worst professor ever~”

“I hope he dies in a cave somewhere.”

“He’s probably a virgin too.”

“Ugh. Anyway *ahem* As I was saying—“ Professor Collin blushed for the rest of the class, mulling over what Cecelia said in his mind over and over again.

“I think he’s pretty cute though?” A girl near the back of the class said. “This’ll be a fun class with someone like him around. Hehehe.”
