Ch 3 Snails are Dangerous too?

As the days started to pass with Magnus perfecting his basic saber arts and cultivating instead of sleeping, the fruit was starting to get ripe.

Magnus wasn’t worried about anyone interrupting him because he had covered up his traces the way he entered well. It would require a Spirit Spring cultivator who is practiced in tracking or divination to find his location. However, no one would want or even try to track him now. Magnus had played it safe and offended as little people as humanly possible. Magnus also doesn’t have anything particularly valuable on him that people know about.

As Magnus was struggling to get a premature version of Saber Intent, three fruits on the tree were starting to ripe. This is when Magnus started to learn something freaky.

‘Hmm? Only three fruits are maturing. This is weird I thought there were a few more baby-fruits around those fruits.

Magnus then decided to check an encyclopedia about spirit herbs again.

‘So they consume each other to ripen? Kinda weird. I hope every plant doesn’t do that.’ To be perfectly clear, what Magnus was thinking at this moment was his eating freshly picked corn. But before he did so, the corn he was about to eat walked up to other corn and consumed them. The corn then swaggered back into its stalk, waiting to be eaten. Not exactly accurate.

Magnus decided to cut his training short because the fruit were about to ripen. If he wasn’t in his best condition to deal with any possible problem, he would either be an idiot or a main character. Unfortunately, he is neither.

Magnus then thought for a second and set a few detonation marks that only he could activate. In the3 chance that someone or something can easily snatch the fruit from him, he at least didn’t want to go down so easily.

As the aroma of the ripened fruit started to spread, Magnus had just put down a few marks to prevent to spread of the aroma. Magnus truly felt he was ready for everything. Unfortunately, man proposes, god disposes.

The ground suddenly started to shake and tremor slightly. Then, two different Spirit beasts popped out of the ground at almost the same time.

At that point, the only thing Magnus could think of was, ‘I forgot about the fucking ground!’. To be fair, when both Spirit beasts coincidentally stumbled across this place, they covered up their tracks decently.

“I should get an earth searching art next time.” Magnus muttered to himself. It was then that the two Spirit beasts realized that they had company.

Although outnumbered, Magnus wasn’t in a bad situation. Both Spirit beasts were only at the 6th level of Spirit Gathering. It wasn’t an impossible task to ward them off. However, Magnus also needed to consider how to leave safely after getting the items. If he tries to go back wounded anything could go wrong.

Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Magnus finally faced the two beasts, ready to confront them when.. “It’s you bastard!” Magnus suddenly found his arch enemy. The snail.

To explain the history between Magnus and the Snail, we would have to go back to when Magnus first joined his sect. At that time, he needed enough resources to go in a long seclusion as he realized he was weak. However, winter was approaching at the time, so he thought it was best to take a bit of a risk and explore some jungle ruins for enough resources to enter seclusion with.

Magnus then mentally prepared himself and a tree-escape technique, ready to possibly die. Luckily, he didn’t and found a few spirit herbs that he could sustain himself with. Unfortunately, he then saw the dreaded snail appear. The snail at the time was also barely considered a Spirit beast, and they fought a thousand rounds over the herbs. Although this sounds glorious, they were just flinging mud and rocks at each other as they had no techniques at that time. They would also agree to a ceasefire whenever they were tired.

So essentially, they were just children playing rough in the mud. Jungle was just the start, beaches, icy terrains, and several other times they encountered each other. The fights were slowly becoming less childs play and more serious, but they still had ceasefires to not waste time and decided to split the goods they find starting from the icy terrains as they both nearly froze to death. This happened a few more times in different biomes as the year passed.

The snail responded with a hissing sound as it couldn’t speak yet as it wasn’t a high enough cultivation. But it was probably saying, “fuck you too, bro!”. Magnus felt a bit slighted at what he could only assume to be an insult. However, he had to start to get some peace talks to get out of here.

“Do you know this other Spirit beast?” Magnus asked the snail, pointing to the porcupine that looked adorable until its barbed spikes are shot into your flesh.

The snail preceded to size the porcupine up and communicate with it. All Magnus could hear were growls of, “Hiss hiss, hurr, hiss hiss?, hurr hurr hurr.”

After a while, an agreement seemed to have been reached. The snail then used its spirit energy to draw in the ground. On the ground, one could see the outline of an ugly looking human, following an adorable porcupine, and a refined snail in a suit. There was a small issue leading to a slight delay in the fruit distribution.

“Where is the gentleman snail in the suit? How can I share the fruit with someone that isn’t here?” Magnus was speechless. This snail really was asking for the impossible.

The snail, obviously offended, pointed to itself.

“Alright, I’ll allow you to take the fruit in place of a relative. Just make it more clear in the picture next time please.” Magnus suddenly understood.

The snail was speechless.

Bar that delay, the distribution of the fruit was easy. Magnus picked them off the plant since he was taller than both of them and the fruit was up high. He handed one to each of the Spirit beasts and then kept one for himself.

Afterwards, Magnus watched as both the snail and porcupine left the hideout. At this point, Magnus was ready to leave too. He quickly used a technique to check the time of day. As it turned out to still be the morning Magnus decided to book it, and quickly left the way he came. Within the day, he was back in the sect.

As Magnus entered the sect using his token that had a fish on it, he started to hear about the sect competition that was soon. Naturally, this was a bit interesting, but he wasn’t going to participate in it if something major didn’t come up. Magnus did hear though, that the competition for outer disciples would start in a month. Magnus wasn’t looking forward to this though, as that would increase the price pills and materials as everyone was scrambling for a way to get a little stronger.

Magnus made his way to the mission hall to turn in the illusion grass, which he received 60 spirit stones for. He then bought a few pills and prepared to break through to the 8th level of Spirit Gathering in his sealed off cave abode. Before he went in seclusion though, he made sure to write ‘DO NOT DISTURB’ on his cave.
