Chapter 2

Everything hurt, legs, arms, chest and his head. He groaned and opened his eyes. As he opened them he noticed that he didn't recognize where he was. He was supposed to be in the carriage with his mother and father after thinking for a moment the memories hit like a tidal wave. The sounds and the beast...the monster. He remembered walking through the forest after the event and reaching a road, he then collapsed, though he thought he remembered hearing people, he wasn't sure. Now starting to move he elevated the top half of his body and turned to look at the room. Much to his surprise not a foot away sat a man with  brown eyes who was staring at him intently. They both stared at each other. Deep blue eyes facing brown eyes that were nearly black. This continued for a few moments until the man spoke up.

“Name” The man said almost whispering. (Man)

“What?” (Boy) asked the boy in surprise.

“What is your name” Still almost whispering. (Man)

“Azron” I replied in a cautious tone. (Azron)

“Azron then, can you please tell me what happened to you” (Man)

“Why” Azron replied in scared and suspecting tone

“When I find a boy around the age of 10 collapsed outside a forest I become curious” (Man)

“Furthermore the wounds you had on your person where not from walking in a forest” (Man)

After the man spoke a small silence grew. In his head Azron saw no reason not to tell the man as there isn't anything that could get him in trouble. But thinking back to it I still feel so scared and angry.

“Azron, Boy, I understand it may be difficult but please I wish to know” (Man)

As he said this the man's eyes seemed to glow both black and white, it was both strange and intimidating.

Looking into his eyes Azron decided to relent and tell him all he knew.

“My family and I… We were travelling to a new home they didn't tell me where” (Azron)

The man continued to look at him.

“They said because of my essence we had to go somewhere”

At this the man's eyes glowed a slight bit more than before, a sigh also escaped his mouth.

“During the middle of our journey…”

Speaking brought him back to the event.

In the middle of the journey through the forest they had stopped for lunch when his father noticed that around them the voices of the birds had disappeared. My father alerted to this drew his sword and stood on guard. My mother laughed and told him it was probably nothing...Her head was pulverized in the next few seconds by a hand the size of her head. Upon seeing this my mind went blank and my father he fell on his ass scared silly. The creature that killed my mother was 3 metres tall, had limbs thin as sticks, No eyes only and mouth filled with serrated teeth along with two slitted nostrils and 4 inch serrated claws on each of its seven fingers.

Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

My father was the next to go, he was spilt in half guts and blood flew everywhere then followed the horses. Then it came for me. At that point I couldn't think, all that was in my mind was various scenarios on how to escape. Then I saw it smile, that was my breaking point. From the point from when I first saw it I thought it to be just a dumb animal like a bear. But no this, this possessed sentience and thought.

Seeing this, some sort of dam within me broke and power gushed out of it like rushing water ,and I felt it, pure undiluted power, sweet intoxicating power. The creature sensed something in me because it's smile disappeared. Then I attacked, I didn't wait for it to do the same. I charged at if and delivered a straight punch to its lower abdomen, It felt like I was punching some tree yet still it seemed to hurt the beast , well at least it annoyed it. At this it growled, a low throbbing baritone growl. It swung its arm/claws at me and hit my chest and arms, I flew back at least 2-3 metres. I landed on my face, the next second it was on me again and slashed my back. At this I grew angry and felt a rise to an emotion I had never felt before, Bloodlust. Using my arms as lift I backflipped up whilst kicking the beast again this time with more power. I felt its ribs break. It started to stumble I stepped forward and used my foot to trip it   making it fall on its back, I then mounted the beast's chest and began pummeling its face...I lost track of how long I hit it. When I finally got up the face was nothing more than a warm brain-blood soup, I left after that not looking behind me. I still don't know why I didn't look back.

Back in the present while I was telling my story the man's face never changed. However in his mind he was running the details of my story through a fine comb.

When I described the beast he recognized it as Stick Reaver known for their signature claws and thin limbs.

When I mentioned the power, He wasn't surprised, After all he thought I noticed his essence manifestation when we found him, Quite a savage he thought.

As I finished he spoke up

“How do you feel” With eyes and a tone that asked more than it seemed.

I thought about his question. How did I feel. I mean my family is dead killed by a monster yet I have avenged them. Thinking back to the stories I was told as a child, When the hero’s family is killed he goes and avenges them, he then continues with his life. I already knew that was what would do. So again I thought, How did I feel. I was curious about what that power was.. What it still is. But most of all there is one thing that I feel

So I spoke up

“I'm hungry”

So a little afternote about the MC. He has emotions but he won't let them rule him. The situation with his parents dying affected, he felt anger but he avenged them so now in his mind he is at peace now. He won't dwell on things that happened in the past. Also keep in mind he is young, around the ages of 9-10.

And once again advice will be appreciated.
