CHAPTER 24.2
I tossed a glance at Alissa as me and the dragon girl parted ways. Servants leading her off to the kids side. Even though they thought she was young, maybe I needed to get her her own room. I didn't want to become what I hate even if this world had different standards.
After all, how I viewed people was the very same way they viewed my daughter. I couldn't be like that nor have that kind of situation.
"Who is that?" Alissa asked as she threw her clothes in a bin.
"My cousin."
Alissa eyed her before nodding. "So I thought about your lesson and I realized I should just go buy a slave…"
"Oh, you are that desperate?"
"This is coming from the virgin. I still haven't seen you with a girl in recent times. Or maybe you are like those boys?" She pointed at the pool where a bunch of old men and middle aged men were checking out the younger girls.
I shook my head, keeping my disdain on the inside. "No, I'll help you pick out someone if that is what you want. No need to slander me."
Alissa laughed way too hard, "slander you when your cousin walked through the halls like she was bathing?"
My eyelids twitched as I followed behind a servant.
Alissa patted my shoulder, "it's okay. I know that you are a good man. So you are serious about joining me?"
I pushed her arm off my shoulder, "you know you don't need a slave. I'll help you release your stress."
Alissa stumbled as I dropped onto a chair. I couldn't help chuckling as she stared at me down. However, both our eyes turned to the princess as she came trotting towards us like a million dollar horse. She was already so young but already so promiscuous. Tsk, it will end up ten times worse once she takes the throne.
We stood up and saluted but she waved her hand as she dropped down on a stool. The rest of the bath was quiet and for a reason. She was pushing herself above and beyond her servants. No connectivity which was bad for the leader. Easy for someone to feel slighted.
After a good bath, the dragon girl was touting her horn. I knew what she was thinking the moment I saw her Instagram poise. Sex was just a tool that granted a small privilege. If I fuck her, I wouldn't torture her but I wasn't such a base guy, cough.
Throwing the extra pair of clothes at her, I got dressed. Alissa rolled towards me with a wide eyed stare.
"So how about you head down to the square with me? I hear that the merchants are in." Alissa grabbed her clothes as she glanced backwards.
"Don't you have training right now?" I asked as I fixed dragon girl clothes. Rolling up the legs and sleeves, damn I already felt like dad of the year.
"Naw, nobody else has such special privileges but you. The rest are ordinary."
"Oh, okay. Let's go."
Alissa let out that ugly laugh again as we headed down the plaza. She was a good people though. This felt less like I was in an intense training session but more like walking through streets.
-why are you hanging around these humans for?-
-training? The better question is, why were you fighting the humans?-
I pulled Alissa into a clothing shop that had different styles of clothes. Rolls of fabric were displayed and many more stuff in little cubic squares.
-my brother got paid to assassinate the first prince but he didn't show up. I was to lead his strongest man into an ambush.- The dragon frowned as she followed us in.
"What are we here for?" Alissa asked as she carelessly grabbed a few fabrics.
You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.
Laughing, I walked to the seamstress who looked like she just bit into a delicious pineapple pizza.
"My lord, how can I help you?" The plain waitress rushed to me.
I pulled out three sheets of paper, "could you make this?"
The woman poured over it for a few minutes. She nodded her head quicker than me, tossing a gold coin at a street girl. "Yes, my lord. I can have samples for you in three days."
"Good. Also, I need something for her. What can you get done today?" I pointed at my newly adopted cousin.
The seamstress quickly dragged the girl to the back as I turned to Alissa. "So do you know what type of slave you are going to buy? Or how much are you going to spend? Because I am not loaning you shit."
Alissa rolled her eyes as she touched a few finished samples. "Not yet but I will know when I arrive."
The dresses and clothes she touched or cast a longer look at, all happen to be girly. Smiling, I knew what she probably felt with her body being more than comfortable in pants and tunic. She probably wanted to play dress up like other noble girls instead of swinging a sword. Sadly, looks were important to nobility just as well as strength.
"Why don't you buy one? You could wear it around and I won't judge. I might even throw some copper at you." I couldn't keep the smirk off my face as she punched me before I finished my sentence.
"Too bad I don't need the approval of a pet dragon."
"Oh, but this pet dragon bites. Grr." I couldn't help laughing as I turned to see my little cousin all dressed up.
They even did a make over but the clothes were solid. I tossed out a stack of gold coins and turned to leave. The harder she tries the less of a mark she would make but Alissa. I admire her courage to be different from the trend.
"Your 'cousin' looks nice." Alissa missed me with a low blow.
"She does look like a young woman but how about we get you into a dress, huh?" I pushed a guy who was trying to walk to close aside.
Pickpockets were really terrible.
"Oh, if you keep teasing me. I might just take you up on your offer."
"Good, cause you need some good…" I broke out into a deep laugh as I rubbed my chest.
"Don't be a dick." Alissa pointed at a very crowded stadium. "This is us."
I took a gander around but my eyes couldn't help landing on those girls. That's right, girls and not women. They were selling them as if they were a commodity. 'Come get your hotdogs! Two for one!'
It was disgusting and that was me trying to keep an open mind. I know that the girls marry younger than they do back home. Shit, we sleep together at a young age but that is equal. Two kids is different from selling young girls.
I couldn't keep the distaste out of my mouth. Alissa watched me out of the corner of her eyes as we hung back.
-why do you work for them if you don't like them?-
-training.-
-why don't you do something about it like how you did something about me?-
-what you did was right there in my face. What they are doing is something all the people agree to one way or another.-
-my people think humans are food, yet I am here.-
I rolled my eyes and turned away from the market.
-You just met someone capable of dishing out justices on behalf of those wrong.-
Laughing, the dragon girl crossed her arm. Alissa looked at us both before turning back to the market.
"I don't see anyone I like. We can leave." Alissa said with a hint of disappointment.
Ignoring the looks I was getting, I made a beeline towards a man dragging a girl over to the slave traders. Ten gold coins appeared in my hand as I blocked his path. The man was a potbelly fool but not a fool that couldn't tell when he had an opportunity in front of him.
"My lord." He passes the girl over without a hint of an argument. Pocketing the gold as he turned around.
What made me annoyed was how the girl looked back at her dad like he didn't just sell her for gambling money.
When I reached Alissa, I pushed the girl into her arms. Why did I do so? I was curious about what kind of person she was in private. Two, I saw how stared at those girls. She only didn't pick one because it was easy to tell that I did not approve of this.
-here I thought you were more noble than a golden dragon but just a hypocrite all the same.-
Smiling, I didn't say anything in response. It was obvious that Alissa liked our friendship and she wasn't going to ruin it by doing what I didn't like.
"Thanks, I'll pay you back." Alissa said as she huddled the girl close.
"No problem. So about that dress. We still have time to go pick it up." I caught another punch as we walked back to the castle.
After splitting, I headed to the dining hall and loaded up. Noy that the food was good but I was starving for no reason. Maybe it was because I was bored as shit. Bored eating. I can never fat shame again when I'm doing the exact same shit.
-you know what I don't understand, is why you are not training with the dark elves like the rest of the black dragons.-
Dragon girl leaned on the table but I never looked up from my food.
-do you know that there was three powerhouses nearby?-
That made her shut up for a few minutes but she was a talkative one.
-how do you know that?-
-because they waved at me when I looked over. You were dead whether or not you could have killed that guy.-
The Dragon girl frowned as she sat back in her chair.
-my brother got the contract from an assassin group called the 'seven heavens, one hell.' There is no way they would ruin their credibility just to kill two dragons not even past their adulthood.-
I put down my fork as I looked her in the eyes. -who do you think is stronger, me or your brother?-
Dragon girl snarled and I raised up my finger. She calms down faster than a rowdy club hopper getting smart when some pull a piece on him.
-you.-
-how strong do you feel like diamonds rank experts are?-
-I don't know.-
Nodding my head, I stood up and started walking. She hurried to catch up just as her majesty entered the room.
"I have a task for you." Princess looked at my adopted cousin with much interest. "Who is this?"
"My cousin."
"Oh, the fire dragon that was destroying villages. Glad you handled that." Princess turned back to me. "I need you to pay a visit to my brother." She passed over a ring and I took it.
With one last glance at the dragon girl, she turned to and left.
Inside the ring was a map of the route her brother was taking or should take back to the imperial capital. Frowning, I grabbed the dragon girl and pulled us into a portal.
-we are going hunting for the target you failed to kill. Let's see what you miss.- I said as I jumped up and shifted, carrying her with me as I headed to the start of his journey.
