The chick woke up and found itself in a small clearing with upturned earth and trees knocked over. The chick tried to walk but ended up rolling over multiple times during its struggle. It eventually leaned against a knocked over tree and scooted itself upright all while cheeping. It turned around and instantly fell back over as it had lost its support. It eventually resigned itself to using the tree to get upright and began by just standing in place.
In the surroundings, multiple creatures watched on as it learned to slowly walk around. It had been much easier this time as it wasn't surrounded by tens of other chicks to knock it over. It sifted through the upturned dirt to bathe in it as a treat for its accomplishment, all while cheeping away to hear its own voice. It decided it deserved another nap and began to head back to its shell and drifted off.

It had been 6 hours since the mana disturbance and none of the monsters had moved while most of the normal animals slowly entered back into the forest. The reinforcements had arrived an hour before dawn and had been sending forest, plant, and animal job users into the forest for information without getting too close. The animals, who were already usually skittish around humans, seemed to be scared of anything and everything as even a muted footstep was enough to send every insect, bird, and mammal in the area to scatter. Leaving nothing but plants and silence for them to find.
With the tamers and veterinarians useless in this scenario they sent in lesser druids and forest dwellers to speak with the plant life. Which came to be excruciatingly painful as none of them were keen on answering any questions as to why everyone was running, only occasionally giving nonanswers to appease the fearful humans.
All they could gather was that this wasn't a human threat and that whatever animal had been born was unusual and had never been in this area before. With that information, they decided they needed to send in spirit and astral job users as any physical information seemed to be too difficult to gather without apparent significant damage.

The chick finally decided it was time to find something interesting as it was tired of having nothing to do while it was awake. It walked slowly and needed 15 minutes to get from the center of the clearing to the edge, which was only 37 feet away, as it was still struggling to go further than a few inches at a time and needed constant breaks.

By the time it had reached the edge of the clearing, it was able to walk without falling over and continued on. As it went out it saw hundreds of creatures, but it didn't care. None of its instincts told it that it was in danger so it continued without worry. Not knowing that all of the animals watching the clearing were braindead and unable to move even if they wanted to.
It continued for another hour before it decided it needed to sleep and it settled into a tree hollow. It began to drift off and time passed on.

The spirits were sent in first to scout out any danger that would harm or destroy spiritual uses of magic. One, in particular, got to the edge of the clearing and was focusing on the surrounding creatures, only to see none of them move for minutes on end. This was worrying as even the animals at the forest's edge were still moving around even if they were hiding from whatever was inside.
The spirit attempted to connect to an animal only for the spirit to dissipate to avoid harm to the spirit user. This immediately set off alarms for the spiritual job people, as anything that could do that was either undergoing so much pain it should have died, or the soul was currently in turmoil which would cause instant brain death. Neither of those was very nice.
Their next course of action was to retrieve a specimen without causing alarm to whatever was in the clearing. They sent in a tamed worm. Without sight or hearing in the normal sense, they should be safe from whatever had caused damage to the animals nearby. The worm itself was around 5 feet in length and was around half an inch in diameter.
After the worm was sent in it approached the clearing edge and bumped into a multitude of animals. It grabbed a rather large one that resembled a badger and began to drag it back to the camp. Along the way the animal began to thrash around in an attempt to head back to the clearing and the worm squeezed itself around one of its legs until it broke to no reaction. it began to drag itself back to the clearing so the worm opened its mouth then put an unbroken leg in its mouth, and began to rush back to the camp.
As it reached the camp the badger was put to sleep by an empathy mage and given to a veterinarian for diagnosis. It would take a while for results, and while they waited everyone would be tense and praying to their god that nothing would go wrong.

The chick awoke when sunlight began to heat it. It wasn't a fan of that. It had already been warm at night and the sun only made it hotter. It went back to going on its journey to find something interesting, it surely would eventually it thought to itself. And on it went, occasionally cheeping, falling over, and even once sliding down a hill into a puddle. It didn't like the taste of it and it decided it would never drink from a puddle again.
As it walked away it didn't see the puddle scream in silent pain while warping into platypus and then disintegrating into dust. It hadn't been able to escape its home to attack its new unsuspecting prey and had a large portion of its being drunk. All the while the chick cheeped away as it went, off to find an interesting thing.
