Rebirth

At the bottom of the ocean lay a coffin of metal crystals and ice. Inside was half of me. With ten minutes remaining I drew the final breath of this body.

Plunging into the tumultuous void I thrashed each limb. Cutting through the water like a knife through butter, the pressure started to build. From fibers to cells were stretching, snaping, and unraveling simultaneously. Followed by an exhale of not air but blood, everything started to become numb. The water now felt like paddling through a mixture of glue, mud, and salt. In this salted paralysis, both arms had to be sacrificed to reduce the load.

Halfway with the world crashing down. The moonlit sky battled the dark ocean sending bolts of scattered light. Walking the path of light I shattered both legs.

Sinking in and out of consciousness everything started to become weightless and emotionless. Each wavelength started disappearing one by one. The sky seemed to be put in a dark red filter until it became a soft grey. No longer could I hear the waves lapping the surface. Fighting the tendrils of death, my back hit against the hard, cruel earth.

The world got clearer and faster, the colors started to swirl and the feeling started to intertwine and overlap. The ocean's fist once came down immediately as I began to burn in blue light. Seeing the world at all angles the me from yesterday faded. I pushed back the pressure and cornered the numbness until it was smaller than a grain of sand. I was reborn.

-Felt like a woke up after being swallowed by a world-eater. I feel so..so...slightly better than normal? Anyways back to my assignment.
