History and Geography

“Okay kid, I gotta get back to my post, try to stay out of trouble, see ya sis.” Vikir waved behind whilst walking away

“Just get back to work” Val huffed.

“Thanks Vikir.” turning back to Val “I thought you two looked similar, not just because of the amber hair.”

“Sigh, he is my older brother, I wish he wouldn’t come over here while working, but I guess he had his reason. Is there anything else I can help you with Yuri.”

“Actually, I’m from a small village out, um, somewhere, and I don’t know much about the world since I’ve been a humble radish farmer all my life, so I was hoping you could give me some information on the world and current events.”

“Yeah, we can help with that, could I ask you one quick question sweetheart.”

“Sure.”

“What’s a radish?”

“Oh, uh, did I say radish, I meant, uh, could you name a vegetable real quick.”

“A carrot.”

“Yes, I was actually a carrot farmer from a small village out somewhere.”

She stared at me quizzically for a solid breathe and finally sighed, “I see what Vikir was talking about, I shouldn't ask you questions, so you need information about the world?”

“Yes, please.”

“Well my knowledge isn’t bad, but if you want the best information, then I would talk to Friedman, he’s an endless supply of knowledge, both useful and useless, he’s the older receptionist helping the lizardman right now.”

“Gotcha, I’ll go ask him, thank you Val.”

“No problem Yuri, if you need help with anything else, come to me, I’ll try my best to get you sorted.”

“Will do.”

I made my way over to Friedman at the end of the line of receptionist, he had just gotten done with helping the lizardman when I stepped in front of him, he was an average height older man in his 60’s, with short cropped gray hair receding on his head, with a neatly trimmed beard and mustache.

“Hello lad, how can I help you.”

“Hello, I’m a carrot farmer from a small village and I didn’t get much of an education, so I was hoping you could inform me about our world and current events.”

“Well, I certainly can, what information would you like to know specifically?”

“I guess first, where are we and what places are around us?”

“We are in the Breufidem Kingdom, to be more specific, the capital and the most central part of the Breufidem Kingdom, also known as Breufidem itself. To the north of the Breudifdem Kingdom is the mountains of Khoughaek, home to dwarves, while to the southwest is the forest of Elitaur, where the elves live, southeast is the plains of Inuera, a land occupied by both beastmen and orcs, to the northwest is Freynira, the final resting place of the queen of the dragons and a forbidden place to all those who are not dragons. To the west is The Abyss of Basrose, just like Freynira, it is a dangerous place, although not forbidden, only the most seasoned adventurers should ever set sail on those waters. And finally, to the east, is the demon kingdom of Zerroroth, home of all demons and the enemy to us and many domains a like.”

“So is every domain at war with the demons?”

“No, dragons see demons and humans as lesser beings, so they don’t feel the need to get involved in what they view as simple squabbles, while beastmen and orcs have tribes instead of one united domain, so some beastmen and orc tribes have sided with us humans in this war, other tribes have sided with the demons.”

“Yeah I noticed there was a few different races among the people of this kingdom, is there a peace treaty between the kingdoms for the war?”

“For the human domain, it used to be more than just the Breufidem kingdom, but due to the war raging for years and no end in sight, it was decided we needed to unite under one flag. The other kingdoms also saw how long and arduous the war was becoming, so a peace treaty was made between the human, elves, and dwarves to be peaceful between each domain until the war with the demons has ended, this treaty has actually helped bring better relations between humans and dwarves, but with elves, not so much, but at least there is no battles.”

“Why has the war been going on for so long?”

“Sigh, the war has been going on for over 20 years, we had thought the war would end with the death of the demon king, but after his death his daughter took up his mantle and has continued the war in his place, but currently the demon king has no known heir, so humanity is hoping that her death will finally lead to the wars end, that’s why the king will be proclaiming a heroes party that will go on a journey to defeat the demon king within the year.”

“So the demon king is the old demon king's daughter and the chosen hero gets to meet her, that’s interesting."

"Hey Freidman, is there a way to get strong fast, and I mean really strong and really fast.”

“Son, I know there’s lots of glory and riches to be had by being the one to defeat the demon king, but I advise against jumping haphazardly into that world.”

“Yeah yeah yeah, but is there hypothetically a way to get stronger real fast?”

“Sigh, there are many gods that we pray to and some graciously answer, one of those gods is Altajir, the goddess of merchants, trade, and wealth, I’ve heard of adventurers praying at her temple to improve their swordsmanship or their magic and it becoming a reality, but be warned, Altajir is the goddess of trade, you’ll have to offer up something of equal or greater value to her to get what you pray for, and if you offer something she deems of lesser value than what you desire, then she may just smite you down, so it’s unwise-”

“Thanks Friedman for the information, I appreciate it," I was already halfway out the door, no longer heeding any warnings.

“Sigh, I pray that kid doesn’t get himself into trouble,” Friedman said to himself.

‘I can’t believe the demon king is a woman, now my goal isn’t only to have a harem, but it’s also to add her to my harem, because if I know female demon kings, they are always gorgeous, so I have to get strong fast and be chosen as the kingdoms hero so I can meet her and make her my wife.’

‘And the first step in doing so is praying to Altajir,’ quickly halting my footsteps I realized something.

“Where is Altajir’s temple?”
