After several more days of walking they came across a house with a tree fallen down in the front, a two story house. The first thing that Morte noticed about the house was the graffiti on it, he couldn't make out what it said because the graffiti was so badly done it didn't look like letters anymore, he just assumed it said salvation. Kylos was the first to knock on the door. Once. Twice. No one answered, so now in a world without laws he didn't even need to knock, but he did anyway. He opened the door. Tonnes of bodies, though they weren't human, they were the aliens. A good sign. That means people have started fighting back! They heard grunts and yells, so they followed. They opened the door. People were training, reverting to swords and what not. Most of the human technologies suddenly malfunctioned, guns all jammed and whatnot. Though they still had Internet and signal, it was extremely limited and would probably die out in a few months, no more communication after that, humanity would have to adapt fast and find new ways to communicate. Most of the highschool students in fencing were probably thriving right now. But for now Morte decided to stay there in order to have kylos and himself train with the sword. They went to the person training the others, college to highschool age probably, most trained with a rapière considering that what they used in fencing, though Morte wasn't too sure that it would be effective against those aliens. When they spoke to the lady she introduced herself as a senior in highschool named Marissa cuples, she was in the extracurricular of fencing, most likely just a highschool club but she called it an extracurricular, she asked for their names. They introduced themselves and asked if they could join her salvation, she said yes. They thought that was the end of it but she asked for everything they were carrying "did you think I was gonna let you in for free?" Marissa said it gently but it was obviously an insult to their naivety. Morte had nothing on him but a few dollars, but who needed dollars in a lawless world? Kylos emptied his backpack, most of everything he was carrying was stuff for his cat, which she let him keep, all she took was the alcohol pads, leftover bandages, and the canned food he took from his home. Good, now that they secured their position at a salvation all they had to do was train. The rapière kylos held was too heavy for him, the steel strained his muscles and he could barely lift it, unlike in shows he wasn't allowed to train with a wooden one "lift it or die trying." Marissa spat, though she never took any direct jabs at them she clearly didn't like them, but regardless she trained him the same way she trained everyone else. At least she didn't discriminate? He could eventually lift his sword albeit it was difficult, he shook with the effort it took. He had absolutely no idea how anything worked. The sky was still red and creepy, whenever he laid down in bed he silently prayed that this was all a big bad dream, that the world wasn't ending, that his family was still alive. Everyday he woke up disappointed.
