The monster is Peter

Inside Rosseler's Library, Kol's mind is now in full throttle. He knows today is the last day to get spells from the books, and although Rosseler didn't mention how many spells they have to find, Kol didn't want to be left behind over an unspoken competition he was convinced was happening.

He walked through the library, testing his new sight on all of them. David and June mostly showed the same glowing parts, their head, neck, joints, and body. Kol did notice that even though June and David showed the same weakness areas, June's are much smaller than David's, which radiates outward throughout his body.

Before Kol sat down in his corner of the library. Kol decides to check Rosseler, sitting on his desk with another cup of coffee. To Kol's surprise, Rosseler did not glow. Rosseler did not show any weakness area, despite his laid-back demeanor.

That's a 3rd level spell caster for you, I guess. Kol thought to himself.

Kol sat down and dove into his book.

Entry- 16

I just got Josh to show me where he keeps his retirement money. He wants me to have it! He thinks he's going to die soon, so he also gave me the deed to his house. I'm not sure if Josh can predict the future, but he's right. He is going to die, tonight. For 3 months of constant lying and pretending. I have waited for this moment for 3 months!

Entry- 17

I'm a little proud of myself. I didn't know I could be so petty. I had to let loose; you see. All of those times I needed to wait, understand, plan, and scheme. I cannot just let him pass quietly. This might be my only chance to experiment with another person.

Turning the page. Kol is greeted with a grotesque and monstrous image. The whole page is drawn so clearly and detailed in black and white. This sketch was drawn magically. The sketch depicts a thin elderly man, with straight hair almost receding from his head bound to a chair by his wrists and ankles. Certain dark patches in the old man's skin could be signs of bruising. Long dark streaks on the old man's chest, face, left shoulder, abdomen, and left thigh indicate cuts or slashes. Fluid-like black sketches come from the eyes and mouth of the old man indicating either vomit or blood coming from the mouth and crying in the eyes. It was already clear to Kol the moment he saw the page. This was Josh.

Kol felt queasy at the thought of what Peter did to Josh and the detailed depiction of Josh's final moments. He decided to push through and kept reading.

The following pages are all sketched in the same amount of detail as Josh's, along with side notes.

A sketch of an elderly female from her head to shoulder, smiling and bespectacled. Beside it is another sketch of the same woman, but her eyes are closed with streaks of black running horizontally on her neck. "Gelian, a religious woman. She thought she was seeing and talking to her God when the symptoms appeared" the note beside the sketches said. Another sketch of an elderly man heavier than most, smiling with his eyes closed. The next sketch is of the same man with big black spots covering his head and most of his face rendering only his jaw and below visible. "Moe, a proud man. Due to the symptoms, I wasn't able to kill him myself. The potion drove him insane to the point where he felt like he needed to continuously bash his head on the wall."

This kept on going for the next few pages and up to 8 other sketches of before and after elderly victims. Struggling to keep everything down, Kol was glad he had skipped breakfast this morning. Kol remembers that he commanded his hand to copy the entire book yesterday. Fuck! What would people think if they read my spell book? Kol thought to himself as he continued to plunge through the book.

Entry 18-

God damn priests! how should I know, that white spells can make you talk to the dead? FUCK! I enjoyed the game too much. I have to get out of here.

Entry 19-

Fuck! My energy is running low. Had to fireball my lab and the entire street to get away from the guards.

Entry 20-

Of course, it had to be him. It's now or never, I guess. Ross! I'm coming out. Long time no see Ross. How's the tree hunting? You don't mind if my spell book just floats there, do you? Great. How much are they paying you for my capture? Oof, I should ask for more, you know I'm not going down without a fight… Fucking combos' man…I was about to perfect my potion. All those experiments went to waste… I'm sure you know the feeling, right Ross? All that time and effort to keep her alive… only to be killed by the very procedure that was supposed to help her… How does it feel? HOW! DOES IT! FEEEE…

Is that it? Kol thought to himself. Flipping through the last pages, Kol could no longer find any further entries from Peter. Is he dead? Kol thought until finally flipping the last blank page is a spell recipe. 'Fireball' was written on top of the page. A small smile appeared on Kol's face as he reached the conclusion of Peter's inhumane experimentations on the elderly. But the main culprit for his happiness was another spell. Unfortunately, it was a 3rd level spell, it would take Kol a long while before reaching that stage.

Kol stood up as he glossed over the fireball spell. A spell only powerful wizards can cast and yet he has its recipe. Kol noticed that the spell's structure was completely different compared to the spell he already learned, this time it had more strange and complicated-looking runes. The other difference is that this time, there are no side notes from Peter.
