The red treasure box

“Ah! I am finally done!” hopped back I-rangris on her bed, reclining herself from exhaustion.

It all begins a few years ago, before the incident, a girl in her ordinary lifestyle, living a peaceful life among her family. She was busy organizing her crate in her new room. She was done with all the drawers, dressing table, bookshelves, cloth box, and study table.

With her stuffs like stationeries, notebooks, blank worksheet bundles, drawing papers, colors, paintbrushes of all sizes and types all were set immaculately inside her study table’s drawer whereas, hair-clips, hair bands, combs, ribbons, hair-ponies all were set inside her dressing table’s drawer.

On the surface of the dressing table, in front of the mirror, there were cosmetics arranged properly in a straight line. Face lotion, beauty cream, rose fragrance powder was all set as though they were prepared thoroughly to be used by the girl.

Though she was growing, she loved talking to herself a lot whenever she was alone inside a room or in the kitchen. Not to mention, even in bed, she won’t remain silent. She would speak endlessly as though someone was listening to her the whole time. In reality, there wasn’t anyone. This girl never minded about and she would keep muttering to herself.

Upon entering her room, from the corner of her eyes, her glimpse went on a shelf that was placed at the right corner of the room. By this, she burst out in excitement. She threw her bag on the other bags, zipping it open, and pulled out all the books on the bed as she started speaking, “I will add all my books in it. OH! How much I loved having a shelf of my own. You know I sometimes even made of cardboard and tried placing my book in them but the very next day I spilled water on my own made shelf…… at the same time I lost some of my notebooks of some subjects….well it was my fault I shouldn’t have placed my glass of water on it. My bad….. Well, what can I say? I felt it like a table and I did….” she chuckled as she emptied the bag and collected her books in her arms, carrying them towards the shelf, and started arranging them.

“My book one..” she spoke as she placed the first book, “My book two..” she counted the next number, “My book three, my book four, my book five..” she went on as she arranged her shelf.

Once she was done with her book, she gazed at the shelf full of books with her grey eyes adoring it in pride.

Later, she proceeded to the largest suitcase of all her belonging. She unzipped it and sighed as she pulled back her sleeves as though she was about to have an arm-wrestling with the things “time to get to work.”

This suitcase had her clothes in, all filled up with beautiful different dresses, red polyester dress, silk blue dress, green long frock all were piled up on each other. She ran and opened the large box that was placed at the left of her room and began placing all her dresses neatly inside it.

In the end, the girl grew tired. She fell on her bed exhausted, catching up some breath.

As she had laid there, her grey eyes went up to the side table where a chest box stood.

With red covering and golden lining design borders, over it was a blue crystal placed on the head of the lid.

How did it get there?

Earlier this day, after she and her family’s arrival from a long traveling from one country to another. This family had to shift their house because of her father’s job in a different state.

Arriving in a new house, her parents lend her a personal room for herself. As she was growing up and was beginning her teen aye, the beginning of the age to open one’s eyes to the world and learn the surroundings from their mind, surely, privacy was going to be part of her.

For the first time, this was going to be her OWN room with her own stuffs. This was unbelievable to her. However, she adjusted herself in the room fast.

Later, at night after having dinner along with her parents, she turned lazy to unpack her stuffs and left it for the next day hanging up all the work, creating a horrible mess in her own room. They say that girl’s room is diamond but this was unbelievably messed up with all her suitcases, bags, unzipped stuffs being opened out, all she cared about was jumping on the bed and having a peaceful good night’s sleep.

“Sleep is as precieuses as a diamond” was all she said as she jumped on her bed escaping over her stuffs.

That’s when she found the chest.

The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.

Once she fell on the pillow of her bed, her head bumped on a hard object that was under the pillow hurting her skull. This stunned her. When she picked up the pillow, there it was the red treasure chest.

………………………………………………………………………

At present, I-rangris sat up, staring at the chest, wondering how this chest got under the pillow that she just recently placed on the bed. Not to mention, her all bags were still in a mess. Then how did it come here?

At first, she thought of sharing this strange thing with her parent as she always did especially with her beloved mother since she was her only daughter.

But, then she hesitated, remembering she shouldn’t bring much worries to her due to her weak health as a heart patient. She had to be careful with every talk she spoke with her Mama because her condition was deteriorating and always remained critical. Her mother needed to rest most of the time without a single drop of disturbs.

The morning breakfast was also I-rangris’s responsibility. At an early age, she picked up the entire household in her hands. Every single thing in the house was her responsibility.

Hence, from the start, daily after breakfast, the father named Tayoah announced a routine that he would take Asila, the Mother in the nearby hospital for her special care, leaving their daughter behind alone in trust for caring of the house and they would return at dinner.

Thus, I-rangris never minded and always got something to do in her free time, especially with her long thick dark chocolate brown hair which was tied down like a braid till her heels. When there was nothing to do, she would try new hairstyles on it or play sometimes with it. Her hair always made itself a dress over her. Her thick long hairs were a natural gift to her,

However, this time in the present day, there was something different. Crawling to the side table of the bed, she picked up the small chest, scanning it around, searching for any space to open it, “there isn’t even a keyhole or a lock to open it.” she spoke to herself.

Shaking it harshly, she tried listening from inside for any noise but, it was all silent, “perhaps, this odd-looking crystal had got something to do with the hole. I have seen no jewel like this before.” She said in amazement.

The shiny blue crystal placed on the head of the chest was her only attention. It was beautiful as it shone so brightly, by looking at it she felt like it was calling her.

“Let me try this,” she placed her hand on the crystal, trying to pull it out or press it but it flashed out a bright light surprising the girl.

As the light turned blue and the box started glowing, the girl grew petrified, she threw it away on the floor.

Instead of dropping on the floor, it floated in the air. The lighting crystal shot a beam straight towards the corner of her room. Seeing where the light was aimed at, she saw a cupboard that was standing there.

The moment she had entered this room, that cupboard stood there at the corner end of the four walls, right in front of the bed. She didn’t give it much attention, knowing that it was a simple cupboard left behind by someone living here before.

Unfortunately, that sentence didn’t play the same way.

All the decorations and designs in the cupboard started glowing in line. The designs took a turn from their position, moving back, and in the center appeared a door lock.

I-rangris watched all this like a frozen statue without batching her eyelid, unable to believe what her eyes were telling her.

In front of her, it was, there really appeared a lock…..

Her jaws were opened as she turned to the floating box and found it smoothly opening up its lid. Mustering her courage, she paced near the flying box as she was in her guard, trying to hold her fear.

Any noise or hiss would cause her to jump or scream. Her heart-bate like crazy ringing in her ears with every step she took. She wanted to leave everything the way it was but, her instinct told her to stay and she wanted to check it out. Her curiosity took the better of her.

As she came closer to it, taking it hold on her hands, to her surprise, it rested on it and her hands started sparkling bright. Filled in bewilderment, I-rangris looked at her left hand, getting stunned to see a bright crest printed on it.

“Wha….. Where did this come from? Ah!” what was more startling was that it got vanished into her left hand.

This was getting worrisome cause nothing was coming up together. Everything happening right now was just unexplainable to her. Each time she tried to solve a puzzle piece a new one appears.

A shiny box shooting out a beam, then the cupboard glowing like it’s waking itself and…..

“This box,” she spoke as thoughts were rushing in her head. Her mind was filled with many questions and she couldn’t think straight. She was confused, just what was happening inside this room.

“What exactly happened here?” she thought.

Looking at the shiny red box which finally opened after causing so many phenomena, inside there were two stuffs placed on a silk pillow.

One, a beautiful grey color crystal brooch, and the second, a golden key.

This is really strange. This box after moving so much around since the beginning she found it till now, the things inside weren’t misplaced or jumbled but arranged neatly.

Filled with bewilderment, the girl placed the box on the bed and picked up the two treasures as she stared at it “a key and a brooch?”

Her mind was in so much mess that she was put a loss “ah! A key!” there an idea hit her head “maybe…. It could be connected there” she glanced at the cupboard and stared at it.

Leaving her bed she paced to the cupboard, wondering whether it would work, this cupboard’s keyhole appeared from the box’s beam, inside which this key was stored. Surely, this key belongs to the hole.

Thinking of another option, even if it isn’t of this cupboard’s there is no problem in trying, she won’t lose anything. She inserted the key in. Surprisingly, it turned to the left on its own with a click sound.

“Ah how?!” stunned the girl.

An unexpected situation occurred. The cupboard opens its door wide with a bright flash, “Eh!! Ah!!” the blinding brightness shires the girl’s sight as she shut her eyes tight. Putting the situation worse, there was a force dragging her inside. She tried her best to pull herself away from it, to hold something within the reach of her hand. unfortunately, the cupboard was in the room's corner with nothing along its sides.

I-rangris got pulled inside as all her efforts were in vain. She rose from the ground, with no way to struggle anymore, leaving her no choice except to get in and she drowned in a white space followed by a slam of the door behind.

SLAM!!!!
