When Acedia-sama told me to take care of the intruder, I rushed out of the Labyrinth at top speed. My body can disintegrate into a flock of flies, this allows me to move at a speed faster than foot.
I rushed out of the Labyrinth as soon as possible. I could see the entrance of the Labyrinth getting closer. And the moment I reached the entrance I could see that Acedia-sama and the others had already made it to the entrance.
Thanks to Acedia-sama’s teleportation magic they could go anywhere they want as long as they’ve seen the place with their own eyes.
The moment I exit the Labyrinth I revert to my human form. I could see Aizawa Zen from afar. Her red-hilted katana strapped to her waist and her cold expression never changed.
Out of all the Seven Capital Virtues, she’s probably the only one who sticks to her image as the embodiment of patience and also respects other ideals and virtues. She's like the most chivalrous and honorable knight you'd find, and on top of that, she was a calamity on the battlefield. She doesn't needlessly kill either humans or demons.
All the other Capital Virtues follow their assigned virtue, and they don't care about anything else. None of them follow or even respect the other virtues, they just do whatever they want.
For example, the virtue of chastity only cares about her purity, and the virtue of charity only cares about giving away money. But they wouldn’t care about anything other than that, they wouldn’t mind others being beaten to their deaths or even if they were to die in front of them. They'd go to the extent of putting their own kind's lives in danger for their own benefit.
The virtue of chastity wouldn’t take any action unless they try to defile the person in front of them, and the virtue of charity wouldn’t even blink an eye at their deaths, he’ll just give the dead person's family some money and that’s it. The kingdom doesn’t care as long as they defeat the demons for them and as long as they do what they're told to.
But the person standing before me is different from all of them. She’s the embodiment of patience. A princess from a small nation who strives to protect her people. She doesn’t get enticed by the others around her, she has a rational head unlike the others and she’s also pretty cute.
Beauty matters even during war! One of the reasons I follow Acedia-sama without a word is because of her beauty…
Zen closes up on me at lightning speed. I’ve faced off against her before and I know that she’s a tough nut to crack. Unlike the other Capital Virtus who easily get taunted by my words, this girl would never be distracted by any means. And I don't like insulting her in any way either.
Acedia-sama did tell me to have fun, but I honestly don’t know how I’m gonna have fun. Since I have to make sure I don’t kill her, I have to be on the defensive as much as possible. But I am against someone so merciless I honestly can’t let my guard down or my neck might just come off.
I avoided her sword by deflecting it with my fan, but I won’t be able to keep evading it either. I took my umbrella out of my inventory and clashed against her sword, opened it, and spun it around making some distance between us from the impact. My fan and umbrella are my weapons, a fan and umbrella are made of adamantine, and the blades hidden in them are the most poisonous and most dangerous weapons, even a small scratch could rot your skin; The Blades of Sparagmos.
I doubt I could beat her in close combat. I am pretty good with a sword too, but I don’t think I’ll be able to use it against her. the most I could do was wade her blade away a few times and that’s it. She’s a monster with the sword after all.
And in the other hand, I don’t specialize in one weapon. And we demons have to practice by ourselves, and only the strongest of noble families have perfected techniques passed down through descendants.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
And unlike Lucifer and Freya who were born and raised as pure nobles, I was born in the slums as the daughter of a prostitute. My mother died when I was young, and my father came for me after her death. There’s no way a father like that would even bother to pass on his secrets to such a daughter.
Zen kept striking blows at me continuously without a word while my mind was full of unnecessary thoughts. Most of the troops had escaped from here. Now I just have to find a way to get out of here.
I have only one chance to escape against her. Every time she launches a powerful attack, she sheathes her katana back into her scabbard. But the attack after that’s pretty intense, so I might even take a little damage if that attack were to hit me head-on.
I could easily teleport my way out of here thanks to Aceida-sama's ring, but if the empire were to find out about our teleportation magic, who knows what they'd do, they might even storm the demon realm just for their greed. The only reason they don't take any action against us is because they don't gain anything out of it. They think that we're weak and that they could take care of us anytime they wanted.
Tsk! What should I do?!
I desperately searched for a way to get out here. I spotted Dennis right next to the Labyrinth entrance.
Didn’t he faint right in the middle of the field? Why the hell is he there now?
For some reason, I just couldn't take my eyes off him.
Have I finally fallen in love? Yah! As if!!!
Even though he was lying a few feet away from me, I could see him. He wasn’t the one who caught my eye, but the thing lying next to him was what caught my eye.
A piece of paper that seemed to be stuck to the wall he was leaning on read; ‘I left you a gift BB. Please use it wisely.' It was from Acedia-sama.
A sword lay next to him; it was one of the weapons used by the Seven Capital Virtues. Mammon used it when he was a human and brought it with him when he entered the human realm, the weapon used by the virtue of charity.
But for some reason, the weapon suddenly changed a few decades ago. Mammon told us that the weapons the Capital Virtues possess change according to their users, so it was most likely because the current Capital Virtue of Charity has chosen another weapon. Since he didn’t have one, he probably took it from someone else.
Since Mammon wasn’t using that weapon anymore, it turned into something completely different. It took on the form of a bow. So, it was most likely meant for the Current Virtue of Humility.
But since none of us were compatible with the weapon we just kept it in the storehouse all these years. But if Acedia-sama left it next to this person it means that he’s compatible with it.
But why the hell is he sleeping right now?
I sent one of my flies, it flew at jet speed and entered Dennis’s nose. His eyes opened immediately and he jumped to his feet. The fly came out of his mouth, and he was left confused about what was happening to him.
“Dennis!” I yelled at him while trying my best to not get myself killed.
“‘That person’ has placed her expectations on you! Pick up that weapon and use it!”
Dennis picked up the bow lying next to him. He looked at it for a few seconds and made up his mind. An arrow formed in his hand, he placed it on the bow and pulled it with as much power as he could.
“Aim for her leg!”
He confidently aimed the arrow at Zen. Zen was on guard against him, but I didn’t let her move an inch, I kept striking at her with my blades, making her unable to take her eyes away from me.
And the moment Dennis pulled on the arrow, the weapon's form changed. It turned into a dark bow. He let go of the string, the arrow flew across the battlefield and closed in on us. Zen tried her best to move away from it, but I stopped her with all my might. I put my umbrella around her neck and used my fan to stab her right shoulder and the moment she directed her attention back to me, the arrow pierced through her thigh, tearing her muscles apart.
"Kh-Aaah!!!"
She screamed in pain as the arrow sliced through her, incapacitating her right leg.
While she writhed in pain I towards Dennis, turning myself into my fly form I picked him up and raced out of there as fast as I could. I didn’t even turn to see what happened to the girl.
And this was the birth of the ‘Dark-Virtue of Humility’.
