Chapter 17 – Patience; Aizawa Zen

Chapter 17 – Patience; Aizawa Zen

A soldier rushed into the Labyrinth at top speed, he was exhausted from the distance and was still panting.

“What’s wrong?”

Beelzebub calmed him down and asked the soldier what was going on.

“Lady Beelzebub! One of the Seven Capital Virtues is heading our way!”

“Capital Virtues? And at a time like this?”

"They must be here for the child...we can't trust them with her safety yet."

"Is it important to keep the child with us?"

"It is..." I'd usually explain why, but I doubt she'd agree if she found out that this very child would potentially kill me in the future.

I can't let her die...I need her to achieve peace with the human realm...even if it kills me...

“I shall take care of it. Please head back to the castle, Acedia-sama!”

Beelzebub knew that I wouldn't say anything more, so she didn't pry any further. I was thankful for that.

The soldier in front of us looked at me with desperation in his eyes. Bloodshot eyes peered at me desperately.

“My Lord! Please, my lord. This is our only chance to kill one of the Seven Capital Virtues! If we can take care of her here, then the humans will be outnumbered! We'll get to kill that red coat monster once and for all, my lord!!!”

"Zagron!!!" Beelzebub yelled at the soldier, unable to control her expression, her voice resonating throughout the labyrinth. Beelzebub was usually harsh when someone disrespected me, but she always acted graceful and elegant when she threat-...I mean discipline them.

She was furious at the man and it felt like she was being desperate for another reason. And when she noticed my eyes on her she regained her composure and apologized to me right away.

"I'm Sorry...I shall follow your orders, master."

"Uh...it's fine. Don't kill her. The humans would take drastic measures if we were to kill her right now."

Honestly...it would be easier if I could kill all the Seven Deadly Sins and this little child and take over the human realm by force. I could easily achieve this, but I don't wanna rule over the humans or anyone with fear. And I also wanna find out the reason why Beelzebub is on guard. I can't afford to kill any of the Seven Capital Virtues right now.

And more than anything...I don't wish to kill this poor child in my arms. I looked at the blue-haired child in my arms holding on to my finger tightly.

“It’s not time yet…Beelzebub, I want you to take care of her. If we were to kill them now, we wouldn’t be able to avoid a war against the humans. Make sure that you don't kill her, we need the the red-cloaked monster; Aizawa Zen to make it back alive.”

“Understood, my lord. And the child?”

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

“I’ll be taking her with me to the castle. So go have fun!”

“…fun?”

“Why not? You just have to save some time for the other soldiers to get out of this area and beat them to a pulp.”

“It might be easy for you my lord but beating one of the Seven Capital Virtues is no easy feat. Especially Aizawa Zen, she's on another level compared to the others.”

“I'm surprised you hold her in such high regard. You don’t have to beat her, just buy some time for the others to escape. That’s all there is to it, and once you're done make a run for it.”

“You want me to run away?”

“It’s not running away, my dear. It’s a strategical retreat, you understand?”

“Yes, I understand. I’ll go take care of her then.”

Beelzebub's body disintegrated into a small group of flies and they flew out of the labyrinth…they were way faster than normal flies by the way.

I held Mia’s hand and teleported us to the entrance of the Labyrinth…no I didn’t forget the soldier.

Beelzebub seems to have not made it here yet. I handed over the baby to Mia and peeked out from behind a large rock wondering what the famous Capital Virtue; Aizawa Zen was capable of.

A girl stood a few meters away from us, she wore a red coat and had a red jacket over her fluttering from the strong wind. She seemed like one of those cool CEOs with their coats on. Only a lot more intimidating and a katana with a red hilt strapped to the left side of her waist. She had red hair, golden eyes an expressionless face.

A few soldiers individually made their way towards her to block her path. But the moment they stepped in front of them, she cut them down mercilessly with her sword. She didn't kill anyone of them, but left them incapacitated, making sure that they'd never be able to step on the battlefield ever again. I held back the urge to stop her, but this was war. I had to make sacrifices, if anything I was grateful that she didn't kill any of them.

Beelzebub’s fly form had already reached her, and she gracefully stood in front of Aizawa Zen as she pointed her fan at the red-cloaked woman approaching her with a sword covered in flames.

The moment the girl approaching us noticed Beelzebub, she sheathed her sword back into the scabbard took a stance while holding the blade tightly, and closed her eyes.

Aizawa Zen; A member of the Seven Capital Virtues, the sole princess of the kingdom of Muloza. She was a master at wielding the katana and was one of the strongest out of the Seven Capital Virtues. It’s said that she could easily cut down an earth dragon, which possesses the hardest of scales with ease thanks to her formidable legendary weapon, the Katana of Gorgoneion. As the Virtue of patience, she’s the most compost and levelheaded out of all the other Seven Capital Virtues.

When you look at both Beelzebub, who wears a kimono, and Aizawa who wears a coat, you might think that you can see the difference or oddness in their outfits, but for some unknown reason, both of them look so good with their outfits facing one another. As if they were meant to meet each other.

Or maybe they just have a good fashion sense...

Aizawa took a deep breath and let it out as if she were concentrating on something deeply. And the moment she opened her eyes, her feet pressed deep into the ground, causing the withered ground to crack from the force.

The moment she locked her eyes on Beelzebub, she unsheathed her sword and plunged towards Beelzebub at lightning speed. Beelzebub immediately uses her folding fan to redirect the force of the blade away from her.

All this happened fast but thanks to my powers I could easily see things that a normal person couldn’t. Beelzebub fended off every parry Aizawa directed at her one after another, and the only weapon she used was a fan. Beelzebub’s weapon is a set of accessories; the folding fan she carries with her at all times and the Japanese style she has stored in her inventory.

I left one of my spiders to do the sightseeing for me and teleported with Mia and the child in my arms.
