I woke up, sensing the slight temperature decrease.
If i were to describe it, it would be something similar to 18 degree air conditioning, just without wind making it cooler.
Getting up, i stretched and did basic warmup exercises to warm myself up.
Now, the lantern seemed like it was almost out fuel.
I started to prepare what i needed for the aimless journey i was about to embark on.
Wrapping and folding the carpet around my body, i had created a makeshift cloak to withstand the cold. Now i was almost fully clothed except for the lack of shoes that should be essential when travelling in harsh terrain.
What should i do, what should i do.
I started humming along to those lyrics with a cheerful tone unbefitting of the situation i was in.
How to make a boot..
Honestly im not sure myself even if i were to find a suitable sole, cut out some pelt to wrap it to my feet, that would prevent physical contact with the snow and it is water resistant, but it doesn't stop the cold from going through..
Hmm
I mean, thats all i can think of.
Oh, before i forget, i should also bring the lantern along with me.
How to make a makeshift boot by someone who has no knowledge on how to do so.
First, find a suitable object for your feet to stand on. In this case i would have to go outside.
I opened the door.
(Whoa!)
What stood before me was a thick layer of snow blocking my way out.
(How should i do with this?)
I pushed the snow, my palms were imprinted in it , yet the wall of snow stood there unbothered by my futile attempt.
…
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
Who cares..
I took a few steps back.
Taking a deep breath, i took off with a running start. Raming the snow with one side of my body
Crash*
I felt part of my body sink into the soft snow. Then, cracks started appearing on the snow wall
Crumble*
Crash*
A solid block of snow fell down on the opposite side making a slight slope down, while some snow got into the hut, covering my feet.
(Nice)
A big enough hole was created for someone to crawl through.
Looking outside, the blizzard had stopped, allowing the clear view of the sun and a plate of white snow. Perhaps this is the best time to depart.
(I have to hurry)
I roughly, skimmed through the surroundings of the hut by peeking my head out of the door. I scanned the ground for something with a flat surface, but all i could see was white. The entire ground as far as i could see was covered in pure white snow.
There did seem to be a landscape of mountains in the distance clouded from my view but it was certainly there .
I saw some parts of the snow rising and sinking even some parts that looked like it was moving. It was probably some creatures camouflaged in the surroundings.
(how thick would the snow be if i walked through it?)
Stepping on the snow barefoot, the snow sunk with only part of my weight on it
Hmm
I'm pretty sure i got watched something related to this in the past. Snow shoes have small spikes on the bottom for better traction right?
(I dont think i could make that..)
Giving up on finding a suitable part outside, i placed my hopes on the lantern.
The lantern was a cuboid, the walls seemed to be just the right size for my feet to stand on.
(Its a risk, but the best chance i have)
Hup!
Jumping, i pushed the lantern up, releasing it from the hook on the ceiling.
My heart rate sped up, preparing for that grim reaper to show up again, the cold to rush in suddenly or maybe the hut somehow collapsing.
…
Luckily nothing of such happened, but i could faintly feel the cold leaking into the hut. I felt as if a timer was placed on my head, not one that i could see but a feeling that i had, similar to when i encountered that grim reaper .
Taking apart the lantern, i seperated the walls and the crystal. In the lantern, i found a folded piece of paper slotted on the inner wall of the lantern.
Opening the piece of paper, i discovered it to be a rough map, showing a image with a border separating two lands. A land with unknown writing on it, seemingly a name and a plain white land with no writing on it.
Hmm..
I inspected the map, flipping it over and turning it around, trying to make sense of it.
This…
I looked at the map which showed a few landmarks which seemed to be mountains.
(i know which direction to go now.)
…
Alright. Where was i…
Ah. Step 2, take the wooden board and place it on the pelt, wrapping it with my feet tightly.
There, a shoe(?)
Eh, good enough
Step 3,... Repeat step 2 for the other shoe and hope that it works, even a little.
With my new equipment. A cloak, boots and a crystal in hand. I readied myself for what's to come
…
i walked out the door. Testing the strength of the snow, I stepped on the snow.
…
It left a imprint on the snow, but did not seem to pose any risk
Hooo-
With a serious face i took a deep breath
Alright, let's live to see tomorrow
