Cosmos

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

My newly rejuvenated throat screamed in satisfaction as i flew over the mountain.

As much as it was scary, it was as relieving when i could finally let out my voice however i wanted to.

As i neared the peak of the mountain, the sunset greeted me blinding me with its radiant and warm light. The heat the sunlight gave off felt like a tight embrace to the chilled me.

I slowly opened my squinted eyes and what greeted me was nothing short of paradise to me.

A similar scenery to what i have never seen on earth with my own eyes and had only seen it through pictures.

Fluffy clouds that now appear slightly orange and purple from the sunset. A mountain range the spread as far as the eye could see, with the large patches of lush green trees that could be seen below surounding a line of blue flowing through it. But most of all, the sign of civilisation, a village of sorts at the outskirts of the large castle like city in the middle. Surrounded by large walls that you would see from a certain anime which seem to boast a solid defence, protecting what was inside.

Fantasy indeed.

If anything, i should just go to one of those villages and rest before it gets dark and rest my tired mind. Who knows what creatures were in the forest. Just because the environment here was better didn't mean that there was no danger. Especially at night, where i would be robbed of my sight.

Intelligent life huh.

A few different possibilities flashed through my mind as i thought about it.

Humans are social creatures as they say. We cant really “live” without interactions with others.

“The twin killers of success are impatience and greed” i wonder if that stays true in this world as well…

An interesting dilemma nonetheless but i should be cautious now that im not going to die either way.

Its decided. I will rest before i depart.

Crackle*

Tiny sparks of fire burst out from the buring wood that was made from my painstaking efforts and knowledge from random survival videos in my memory.

Dont ask me how, its already good that i got a fire going, my arms are already sore from doing all that repetitive motion.

I sat on the grass slightly wet from the dew on it. It felt like a soft bedding laid over a platform of bumpy land. A little uneven yet comfortable. Laying down, i took off the scarf made out of rabbit skin and folded it into a pillow.

Sigh*

“What a day…”

Just like that, my fourth day after reincarnating ended.

KklRrrr.rrreeeiii!!!

A bird screeched into my ear jolting me awake

I got up and grabbed the birds neck while thinking about todays breakfast.

I looked at the bird, smacking my lips.

It fluttered it wings at me trying to get out of my grasps.

“Let.. me..go, ca…nt br..eath”

It can talk?

I loosed my grip on the bird neck as i switched to holding down its body and talons, using both of my hands.

“Speak, why should i let you go and how can i understand you”

Cackkck! Cacckkck!

“The crystal in your pocket”

Holding the talons of the suspicious bird tightly, i reached into my pocket to find the opaque crystal the storm had given me glowing subtlety with a white smoke slushing around inside.

“Shiny treasure, give”

The greedy crow like bird squaked when i took out the crystal. Flapping his wings and reaching out for the crystal in my hand.

(This guy..)

I considered making this bird my breakfast once again, before taking a deep breath.

“How about this, i give you this in exchange for information about the area around us”

I picked up a charcoal from the fireplace and showed it to the bird.

“not shiny, trash”

(It needs to be shiny huh)

I threw away the charcoal in my hand and reached out for a bone of the rabbit

“How about this, I'll give this to you after you tell me about this forest, and if thats not enough, i will give more if you scout the surroundings for animals for me”

“Shiny gem, deal”

(Nice)

I listened to the bird talk to me, resisting the urge to pull away when it screeched while holding firmly onto its talons.

This is the summary of what it told me, excluding its own life story of stealing from others.

(I'm surprised he's not dead from all the shenanigans he pulled)

Oh yeah, he did mention his name but i'll just call him crow

Crow said that this forest was home to nocturnal animals and most of the plants are edible(to him). The village that was home to humans but was avoided by others that came from the castle like city.

Other than these information that i had to piece together from his broken speech. It was confirmed that the crystal given my the storm was the reason i could understand him. This was tested by placing it away from myself and hearing the bird caw and kreik like normal. It was also tested that only sounds that could be interpreted and had meaning could be translated. Otherwise random noises would just be heard as noise. Not very sure how that works but good for me. Over this short talk i had formed a strange bond with crow. Maybe its because it was the first time i talked normally with someone in a while but it felt strangely calming

As promised I gave the bone to the crow, it seemed so happy it almost seemed cute to me as I saw it jump for joy.

“Remind me again what was your name again?”

I questioned crow, this time with no ill intention and genuine interest

“My name is cosmos”

It was like a breath of fresh air compared to what I had experienced for the past two days. Over this short time i had already almost died twice.. maybe more?

What the storm said to me replayed in my mind “death will come find you for as long as you are within his sight”

I guess it's not truly over yet..
