"That was something" Lawrence said.
Currently, he was lying on the his couch. He wanted to vent out all the stress talking to Johnny Chase got him.
Mika was outside. She had asked him a little break time. And, all things considered, she deserved it. Lawrence had been dragging her into all sort of trouble, and she still wasn't seeing brick of her castle. And yes, Lawrence planned to build one for her (by which he meant pay someone else to build it), eventually. but that was far far ahead in time.
"And that was some big cloud of crap of built up there."
What the hell was he thinking when he said he would take care of the rival organization? He had absolutely nothing on them yet! Not even the organization's name. Let alone an actual way to bring them down...
"Bruh, that's for another time." Right now, he wanted to pat his own back for getting out of that situation so easily. Although, to be honest, it wasn't entirely him. Some of his powers also helped. Silver Tongue mostly, though Facade did it's part as well. If Johnny found fear on his eyes, that was it. The confidence which was the base for his game strategy gone, the castles in the clouds would fall down and drag him with them...
But everything was fine. He was home now. Home at last...
Home at last.
He stopped on his track.
When was the last time he spent a day at home doing particularly noting? Last week, maybe. But it seemed like an eternity to him.
"Well, let's relax for a bit now, then."
He had a nice night of self-enjoyment planned...
"First things first, let's browse Glasses for some news."
Lawrence got up the couch, slipping his feet on a new set of mules (penguin themed this time). Walking to the fridge without anybody there to attack him felt nice...
"Let's see, let's see..." Scanning the fridge for something appetizing. Not just something good. Oh, no. Right now, only the Absolute Triad would fit the mood. The perfect combination of three different aspects that turned a meal into something sacred, heavensent even. First was the taste, of course. then was texture. right now he was on the mood for something light that went along perfectly with black coffee, no sugar. And finally, effort. The effort he had to spent preparing something to eat often played a big part in his decision of whether to eat it or not.
Yeah, he was the laziest man walking on earth.
Right now, though, he had the perfect solution for that:
"Cereals!"
Yes. Just throw some milk into the coffee, then mix it all with cereals. The perfect snack for someone on his situation!
If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Now, where did I put that cereal box... oh."
There it was. Right there, between the Cheesos package and the RedOax bottle. And it was... empty.
"That damnable minion! How dare she to consume my nutritional supplements?!" He closed the fridge's door exaggeratedly, only to remember that no one was actually looking at him.
"Maybe I'm getting a little too used to this role?"
Even so, the problem still remained. There was no cereal in the house now.
Lawrence sighed.
"Time to go to the mall, then..."
----------------------------------------
The nearest mall was, in fact, pretty nearby. Ten minutes of walking would get you there, if you went slowly. Besides, Lawrence enjoyed the walk, breathing in the pure air, looking around, observing. Houses, shops, drugstores, barbershops, beauty shops, parks. Worne YK's mood hit him straight in the heart, and he liked it very much.
Then the walk was over and he was already in the mall.
"Let's see, cereals... that' should be around the second floor."
He headed over one of the walls, observing the area map. Yeah, it was still as he remembered. He decided to take the stairs this time. Not the automatic ones. The normal ones. Since he was already exercising... and all?
He looked closer.
No doubts now. That men had just stolen that lady's purse! What a truant!
Not that he himself could say much to him.
"Now, how should I deal with this...?"
Well, he couldn't make a scandal very much now could he? Nuh. And he couldn't ask back the purse nicely...
He could' however, take it back.
Closing in silently to the thief, a man in his mid twenties wearing a loose shirt and jeans, he bounced his shoulder with him.
"Hey! Watch where you're going!"
"Ah, sorry! I guess I've had a tiresome day, I wasn't really looking where I was going..." He helped the man up, making sure to apply enough pressure. He had heard somewhere that, if you got someone used to being touched by you in a short period of time (like now) it would be harder for them notice it if you picked their pockets.
The purse came out safely, and the man never seemed to realize.
"Whatever, just look where you're going next time" the thief said, minding his own business. Lawrence went the opposite direction, throwing the purse up and down in his hand. "That went out neatly... Not that I'll do it pretty often."
He headed to the lady the thief had stolen the purse...
Actually, looking closer now, she wasn't so much of a lady. She was near his age, maybe a little younger. Lawrence was maybe half a head taller than her. Her short blonde hair just barely reached her back. She had sapphire blue eyes, big and mystifying, magnified by the glasses she was using. She was wearing a light lilac blouse, khaki knee-sized skirt and some white fit-in shoes; along with the handbag the thief had stolen her purse from. This girl, Lawrence noticed, was quite a beauty.
What a shame he couldn't get to know her better...
Carefully, he snuck the purse back into her handbag, walking away acting as natural as possible.
Well, that was something.
Back to the cereals...
----------------------------------------
"Hey chief" Mika said.
"Yes, minion." He answered from the couch. Half way back from the mall, he decided to save himself the effort and just buy a Pepno on the way. Instead, Mika was eating the cereal box... again.
"What's the plan for now?" she asked.
"Meaning?"
"You told that guy you'd take care of his problem. You have something planned already?"
"As if. I talked big to that Johnny guy, but I lack a strategist just as much as he does. I've been surviving up until now with sheer luck, and a bit of your help. At some point, we'll have to recruit someone who can actually plan ahead of things..."
Someone knocked on his door. Probably some random vendor.
"I can't go" Mika said. "They're playing a Discoverer Channel documentary right now."
"Since when do you like Discovere Channel?"
"Shhh!"
Lawrence sighed, and left Mika alone with her emperor penguins documentary, going for the door.
"I'll be there in a second he said." The vendor probably just wanted him to buy a new vacuum cleaner or something like that.
He opened the door.
"Sorry, I'm not interested in~ ?!"
"Hello. May I come in?"
It wasn't a vendor at all.
It was the mall girl.
