A couple of days after things with Christiane were settled, Mika made a strange request to Lawrence.
"I want you to take me on a date."
Lawrence blinked a couple of times, sure that he misheard. "What?"
"I want you to take~"
"Yes, I heard that!" He cut her off, surprise making him falling of his seat. He stood up in a high-alert state, as if she had just told him a van of armed men were approaching them. "Why?!"
"I want to eat in a restaurant" she pointed a finger at him, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. Her expression was flat.
"Use your own money for that!" As promised, Lawrence had not only covered her life expenses so far, but he had also paid her a relatively substantial amount of money the day she moved to his house.
He thought of the way that sounded, and all the sudden he wanted to chop his own head.
"I don't know how to eat in a restaurant" she pointed. Oh, right. She was an orphan, of course she never participated in that kind of events before. And now she managed to make him feel bad about it.
"Alright, alright" he sighed, her... puppy eyes sinking on him like daggers. "I'll take you to a restaurant date..."
"Yey!" Her face brightened.
"...if you behave appropriately."
"Buuh..." Her face darkened.
"You have to learn to participate in this kind of events. If I'm going to rule the world, you, as my right hand, will be constantly assisting to important meetings in prestigious places and the like."
Lawrence made sure to emphasize on the right hand thing. Mika's face showed the battle going on inside her head, one side feeling happy that the chief called her 'his right hand' and the other refusing to have to go to boring places all the time.
Apparently, the first side won by a thin margin. "I'll behave... But I want churros on our way back! Vanilla-flavored!"
Lawrence sighed. He was already regretting his decision.

Lawrence looked around as he locked his house's door.
He never actually got a good look on the neighborhood, did he?
Lawrence never really cared about having good relationships with his neighbors. Sure, he was polite whenever he encountered them and made sure to wish them a good day, but nothing else. He never bothered to go around, knocking doors and giving people homemade cookies...

As he pondered about this, he felt something tapping at his shoulder
He turned around in surprise, to find Mika wearing in a killer dress with all the innocence she could.
"What the hell are you wearing?!"
She did a little twirl. "How do I look?"
Lawrence felt a headache coming. Mikaella Brown was just too innocent to notice this kind of things, wasn't she?
Too innocent wearing a sexy red blouse that accentuated her innocent beauty, with a dangerously short black skirt and...
"How did you get that dress?" He was honestly shocked. Not by the fact that she was wearing it, but because of the way she looked on it. Not that he'd ever catch himself admitting that to anyone, not even himself.
Mika tilted her head. "You don't like it?"
"That's not the problem here!" He made sure to emphasize there was a problem. Mika simply shrugged and said "I searched in Glasses about 'what to wear in a date' and put 'if you want churros' next. This was what came out." Lawrence wanted to slap himself. How could he forget Mika's lack of common sense?!
"Want me to change into something else?" Lawrence wanted to say yes, but he caught himself on the way and looked at his wristwatch. "We don't have time. We have to go now if we want to get to the restaurant..."
"But the clothes..."
"Listen now!" He grabbed her by the wrist without noticing. "You wanted to eat in a goddamn restaurant, now let's get going before I change my mind!"
She nodded. The chief looked a different kind of cool right now, though somewhy she didn't want to say.
At some point, one of the neighbors saw them. It was Mrs. Rose, a nice elderly lady who always said hello to Lawrence when she saw him.
"Good morning, Mr. Lakewood!" She said in her jovial tone. She looked at Lawrence first, Mika next, and then at their hands. I knowing grin spread on her face. "I see you are going together with your girlfriend."
Lawrence looked at his own hand, grabbing Mika's. He understood the meaning of Mrs. Rose's words an instant later.
"It's not like that!"
"I know sweetie. I know." She blinked an eye at him "Well, I'll leave you two lovey birds to your thing. I wouldn't want these old bones to meddle in the youngs' business."
"Like I said, It's not like that..."
Mrs. Rose was too far to hear him now, though.
Oh great, now the whole neighborhood would talk about them.
The headache was getting worse.
----------------------------------------
On their way back, Lawrence had gotten vanilla-flavored churros for both of them.
He took a bite at his own. It actually tasted pretty good. A crunchy, spongy texture, tasting like fried butter but sweeter. And the vanilla cream fill inside added a nice touch to it.
Lawrence could see what Mika liked about these...
Speaking of Mika. She was looking kinda... Weird.
"What's gotten into you?" Lawrence asked.
She was staring straight at him. There was a little bit of cream in her lips.
"Mika?"
Her face got closer. Dangerously so.
"I want it" she said.
Lawrence's brain melted at those words. The backup system kicked in, throwing out a mechanical answer. "You want what?"
Mima flushed. "I want your long... Thick..." She licked her lips.
Backup system failing! Warning: all systems endangered ! Overheat levels reaching critical state!
Mika's face came closer as Lawrence paralyzed. He tried to move, but he noticed he couldn't even turn around. Her breath tickled in his nose.
He stared at her eyes, and for a second Lawrence felt drowned on them...!
And then she took a bite at Lawrence's churro. "Sorry, chief. This thing's too damn tasty, I couldn't resist!"
But Lawrence couldn't hear her. He was falling, dozed off. All systems shut down.
"Chief? Chief!"
Into the comfortableness of unconsciousness.
