The sound of tree branches cracking and snapping under too much weight bearing on them echoes throughout the middle of the jungle. A soft thud and the rustling of plants follows after the snapping of branches.
Hawk can’t move at all, nor can he see anything and he starts to panic, wondering if he is actually dead or not. Vert is quick to stir however and slowly opens his arms to see Hawk is safe and sound. Hawk looks into the eyes of his killer just a not too long ago and now he has turned into its savior.
Hawk’s face becomes into one of panic when he notices the thorns stuck into the back of Vert, however Vert seems to not notice them as he starts checking his pet’s body from head to talons. Seeing that his bird has not taken any injuries worth being noted, Vert lets out a sigh of relief.
“You need to be more careful pet, I barely made it in time this time but who knows next time.” As Vert finishes his sentence, a soft beat pounds out of his gauntlets. Though it is a soft sounding beat, the music sends out sound waves that beat down the nearby plants. Vert seems to be concentrating on something, but it isn’t long before he does a kip up with the Hawk in his hands, followed by a hard jump towards the nearest tree.
Vert lands directly on the tree and they both look back to where they were just laying, however the spot is now being bombarded by thorns. Hawk barely has time to process what happened before the God of Death starts racing through the jungle at high speeds.
He is not running as fast as he usually does since the jungle full of life hinders Vert in more ways than one, but he is going fast enough to easily out speed the spikes raining on his position constantly. Hawk decides to leave the fate of the two onto his Master’s hand and completely buries his head into Vert’s chest for the most protection since this situation is beyond Hawk’s capabilities.
Vert on the other hand is more annoyed than he is scared for his life. He saw his pet about to die and not knowing what would happen, Vert jumped and had caught his pet. The thrown thorns were not strong enough to hurt Vert and barely broke into the epidermal layer of his skin.
Though a few stick to his back currently, Vert cannot feel them at all. He is currently focused on his music and dodging the oncoming thorns, while also looking for the Goddess of Life inside of this room.
The amount of life and foliage around Vert makes him feel slightly nauseous and he would love to send out a blast of death magic, however he still has slight trauma of when he did it last time and accidentally killed Emeralda.
Hundreds of spikes pour out from the foliage from Vert’s left, but he easily pushes off of the tree he was standing on and leaps to the next one. He lands on the other tree as the thorns hit his last position. The soft beat continuously pouring from his gauntlets.
One reason that Vert decides to play music at the moment is due to the great bonuses that seem to come with it. On top of staving off his boredom, music also gets Vert in the mood for a fight and he seems to hit hard while it is playing. The best advantage to it though is the sight it gives him.

When Vert sends out music, essentially he gains sight of wherever the music goes, like the echolocation a bat would use. He has never been explained why or how it happens, but hey, Vert has never been the one to ask many questions until recently.
Vert has been watching the movement of the thorn throwing plants and has come accustomed to their movements over the past five minutes. They crawl across the ground in no irregular pattern and aren’t really that fast. The only main problem is that these blasted plants seem to be all over this jungle.
What Vert didn’t seem to think about though is the existence of other plants that could try to kill him.
The tree in which Vert is standing on looks perfectly fine, until the branches show signs of movement. The bark below Vert’s feet shifts slightly and then explodes in speed, wrapping itself around Vert’s feet. As the bark tries to impede Vert’s movement, he senses thousands of thorns enter his zone of vision from the sound. Thorn throwing plants had positioned themselves outside of Vert’s area of sight once they figured out how far he could see with the sound vision.
Vert chuckles slightly at this slyness from the Goddess of Life. The plants had shown very simple movements but this was a ploy for Vert not to think the plants had a high level of intelligence. To Vert it seemed that once the Goddess of Life was confident that Vert couldn’t sense how many plants would shoot at him, she pulled a triumph card that would hinder his movement.
Unfortunately for the Goddess, slyness can win you battles against an enemy with the same strength as you. Vert is an exception to this because the two are leagues apart.
As the thorns approach Vert’s position, the God of Death uses his left arm to hold Hawk close so he won’t get blown away. Vert then crosses his right arm across his chest. Using a decent amount of strength, Vert sends his arm outwards and back across to the right side, basically making a swiping motion.
The swipe hit nothing, but what came after it was what Vert intended to save him some pain from being poked by these thorns. A massive gust of wind blows outwards from Vert, snapping branches from the nearby trees, and also sending the thorns outwards in random directions. The scariest part is that they are going back faster than the speed that they were sent.
A lot of thorns go off in random directions, destroying some trees on their way out, however some thorns return to their sender. All of the plants that got hit by the thorns explode into green mush and planty viscera.
The tree ended up with a worse fate though.
Once Vert sees that the already minimal danger from the thorns has been negated, he turns his attention to the tree. He takes the claws from his gauntlets and shoves his right hand directly into the branch.
Once inside, Vert can feel the potent life coursing throughout the old tree. He decides to make the tree feel as much pain as possible and causes death magic to seep from his claws. This death magic immediately finds the life force of the tree and begins to devour it.
The bark around Vert’s feet recedes and a loud groaning noise escapes from within the tree. Luckily for Vert, trees usually connect to each other and it isn’t long until the trees in the area are affected with the death magic curse.
Trees start to wither at a speedy rate and Vert is able to trace the death magic between the interconnected woods. The jungle is silent for a few moments before Vert senses something. A very dense form of life that seems to be off in a corner somewhere.
A wicked smile spreads across Vert’s face as he sends pulsating death magic into the source of all life in the area. An angry shriek echoes throughout the whole jungle as Vert has finally found his prey.
