Book 1 - Chapter 4 ( Part 3 )

Disappearing further into the forest Isaac couldn’t help but notice the way the boy’s rings drew in the lights floating in the air.

Like a funnel, countless lights were drawn down in a whirlpool of energy down into the ring, only to then be spat back out into the air as fire.

But what was really strange was that the boy never once used the light from inside of his body, only using his rings to suck in the light that was around him. Issac could see that the boy had the light inside of himself. He had way more than anybody that Issac had ever seen before.

And yet he kept it locked down tight, never once letting it interact with the lights surrounding him.

“ Come on out Infa, I don't want to spend my night tracking you down.” Looking around, the boy stepped forward away from the crowd of security guards. The guards themself didn't know what to do, their boss had brought this little brat with him saying that they should listen to whatever he had to say. Even going as far as telling them that his orders were more important than his own.

Truthfully they were terrified of this little boy. Last week when the boy tried to hit on a maid that worked inside the house her boyfriend, another guard in the house, went over and shoved him away. Not even a minute later he was being burned alive right in the kitchen.

No one knew what happened, all that they knew was that one minute George was rushing forward trying to punch what he assumed was a snotty brat, and the next thing that they knew George’s whole body had caught on fire out of nowhere.

He screamed for over half an hour, thrashing on the kitchen floor before he finally died. No one was allowed to help him, either by putting out the fire or even just putting a bullet in his head. They had to stand there and watch as their friend was cooked like a pig.

Screams from above caught their attention as Manuel pounded on the window, calling out down below. -Cough-“ Senhor Cutter,” -Cough- “You promised that I would be protected, what is go-!”

“SHUT UP! You Infa’s have no right to talk back to me, if you weren't our cash cow I would’ve killed you over a hundred times already, GOD DAMN YOUR SO FUCKING ANNOYING!” After making sure that Manuel wouldn't make any more noises Cutter turned back towards the forest. “ You know I have to admit, it was pretty ballsy to try and attack my little cow, but unfortunately for you, I can protect every square inch of this place.”

Waving his arm behind him a yellow hue appeared over the house wrapping over the entire building stretched like a thin piece of saran wrap.

“ Someone like you will never be able to piece my shield, no matter how many bullets you fire this shield will never come down, so just come out and let me kill you quickly.” Cutter put his hands into his pockets not at all worried about the thought of a sniper in the woods.

Certain that whoever had fired that shot was scared shitless by his display of fire.

“ The faster that I can finish this, the faster I can go back home and leave this cesspool behind.”

Issac could not have agreed more, the faster he finishes the faster he can get some answers to the question burning in his mind. And waiting, hiding in the trees won’t get him anywhere. It was high time to finish this hunt.

He’ll give it five minutes.

Jumping out from behind the trees, Issac immediately grabbed the attention of the guards as he made a mad dash toward the mansion. Already he could see the guards regaining their wits as they raised their weapons, aiming straight for him.

Realizing that he had less than a second before bullets started flying, Issac immediately reached out and grabbed two of the cylinders holding for his belt. Undoing the internalized locks inside of them as he brought them up in front of him.

In an instant, Issac was no longer carrying two small cylinders but instead, he had two long metal staffs in his hands.

Guards from all around the compound opened fire as bullets rained down on Isaac, Cutter himself stayed in the back acting as if none of this had anything to do with him. Happy to watch as this annoying bug was taken out of his sight. But it wouldn’t be that easy.

Covering his staffs with his internal light Issac then began to twirl his two staffs as fast as he could, effectively creating a wall of steel in front of him. Any bullet that came before it was deflected, the two staffs in Issac’s hands moved so fast it was as if they were everywhere at once.

Nothing could break his stride, whatever was in his way stood no chance against the steel in his hands.

As soon as he got within forty feet Issac threw his right arm forward, spearing a gunman on the second floor with his staff, causing him to topple over dead and land on another shooter below him. Reaching out with his now freed hand Issac grabbed the first guards in front of him, only to slam him down onto the ground breaking his neck.

Taking the gun from the now dead guard Issac planted his remaining staff in the ground before taking off to the right running along the perimeter of the property. Ignoring Cutter as he had seemed content to let this playoff in front of him, Issac began picking off the remaining guards.

As he no longer had his staff to protect him from their bullets Issac had to hug the areas around the guards on the ground, using them as a human shield from the people on the balconies.

Swimming through the bodies Issac was constantly pulling on the trigger, killing whoever happened to be in his line of fire.

Taking shots from all directions left him no chance to rest, eventually running out of bullets Issac had to constantly take more and more guns from the bodies off the ground. Luckily the dogs had been killed off early on or else he would have had to deal with 100-pound tanks running through the field.

This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.

By the time Issac had made a full circle of the property no guard had been left alive, every one of them was lying on the ground dead.

“Bravo, you’re able to put down a couple of dogs, really impressive.” Sarcasm pouring out like an open faucet Cutter regarded Issac with uncaring boredom.

As if the bodies and the blood on the ground had meant nothing to him.

Looking at his eyes Issac could see that Cutter didn't care how many of these guards were killed, hell he didn't even seem to care if Manuel lived or died. To him, they were all just street dogs fighting over the rotten meat in the alley.

‘Really.’ Issac thought, ‘ This guy never shuts up.’

Opening up his left palm the ring on his finger again glowed red as a ball of fire formed inside his hand. Grasping it between his fingers he looked back up at Issac. “ You know I’m curious, why are you here, are you an assassin paid by some distraught Infa’s family.”

Without any warning Cutter threw his hand, launching the ball of flame toward the black cloaked Issac as he continued to talk. “ Or maybe you are trying to get revenge yourself, huh, is that it, this fat tub of lard pissed you off and now you're here for revenge.”

Stepping to the right of the incoming ball of fire, Issac noticed that for a thing made entirely of fire, it really wasn’t that hot. It felt as if he was standing in front of an open oven with how little heat this thing was giving off.

For a fire of that size, it really fell short in terms of heat. Turning to look behind him, Issac watched as the ball of fire slammed into the ground behind him, exploding against the rocks and leaving behind a small indention in the ground.

Not hearing a response, Cutter began to get even more annoyed as he continued to create more and more fireballs each one the size of a volleyball.

“ WELL?! ANSWER ME! YOU PATHETIC INFA.”

Isaac staying quiet continued to dodge as explosions happened all around him, watching as each new ball of fire grew bigger and bigger. But no matter how big Cutter made the fireballs they would just barely miss him, lighting up the night as they sailed off past him only to explode against the ground behind him.

But even as he dodged the ball of flame he made sure to never take his eyes off the rest of the rings on Cutter’s hands. With two rings on each hand, he carried a total of four with him, and each one seemed to have a different function if their different looks meant anything.

The ruby on his left middle finger apparently gave him the ability to throw those fireballs around and nothing else. On his left thumb, there seemed to be a ring that controlled the barrier over the house. while it wasn't visible to the naked eye Issac could see a yellow line connecting the ring and the house together as it continually absorbed the surrounding lights.

But it was the rings on his right hand that had him concerned. One of them seemed to connect to Cutter the same way that the shielding spell connected to that other ring but the last one just sat on his finger with no indication of what spell was being tied to it.

Knowing that he wouldn't have long before his prey would find a way to escape, Issac, ignoring the annoyance in front of him, made a mad dash toward the mansion. Not stopping even as he felt an increasing amount of heat heading for his back Issac performed a perfect baseball slide on his back.

Not even a second later a ball of flames flew past his head only to crash into the barrier over the house.

Without breaking his momentum Issac transferred from his slide back into a run never once turning back to spare Cutter a second glance. Finally reaching the edge of the barrier he tried to shoulder through it only to bounce off as if he had run into a wall.

“ I told you Infa, you can't get past my barrier, my spell will last until the end of time.”

Still ignoring the annoyance coming from behind, Issac realized that this spell provided him with the perfect way to complete his plan. Reaching down Issac pulled out two wooden short-staffs the size of his arm and barely an inch thick each stick was capped with metal while vines and flowers were engraved in gold circling the entire body of the sticks.

Reaching out to the house Issac, using the two staffs, slashed a circle against the barrier.

Feeling a tremor underneath, Isac pushed off the barrier with his feat launching himself into the air as a wave of earth slammed into where he had just been standing. Looking back he saw Cutter, who apparently had gotten tired of being ignored, rising up from the ground. The final ring still glowing from the spell

“ Your kind really are the stupidest creatures around, aren’t you? Not smart enough to learn the mysteries, not smart enough to even understand simple words.” Rubbing his rings Cutter glared across the yard, wondering why it was taking so long to kill this bug. “ The way that you continue to go after that cow, you must be an assassin, only an assassin would care so much about that worthless sack of shit when an apex predator stands before you”.

Cutter raised his arms, bringing them up above his head almost as if he was trying to catch a ball out of the sky.

Pulling an enormous amount of energy into his two rings Cutter performed his first actual spell of the night. Earth rose to the ground as fire came out of his left ring combining and shaping into a ball of molten rock in his hands.

Twice as large as a basketball and weighing over a ton Cutter could barely keep a hold of it. But now that the formula had finished he was finally ready to end this and go home.

Preening with his head held high, Cutter waited for the moment when he would hear the Infa fall in front of him, sobbing and begging for the almighty Cutter to spare his life. Because no matter what he did or said, at the end of the day no regular person could stand up to the might that was his formula.

“HAHAHAHAHAHA! ”

But instead, all he heard was laughter, laughter that sent chills down his spine.

Issac was bent over backwards laughing so hard that it was starting to get difficult for him to breathe. Throughout the entire interaction with Cutter Issac was barely holding on as is but the way that he called himself an apex predator, he just couldn't take it anymore.

Cutter acted as if they had just been thrown straight out of a 50’s comic book, perfectly acting like an iconic villain.

The way that he talks was causing even Issac to start to feel embarrassed for him. It was so bad it came all the way back to being hilarious. But really, if he wanted to act out a scene from the comics who was Issac to ruin this atmosphere?

After straightening up Issac immediately threw his arm forward so fast that his entire arm was nothing but a blur.

Cutter had begun to hear a strange sound coming from above him. Looking up he found that his strongest spell, Ignis Petra, had begun to fall apart as superheated rocks began to drop all around him igniting the surrounding grass on fire.

Issac was happy. Because for the first time, he finally had someone to play with.
