Journal Entry—A Weird Encounter
For the record, I am an open-minded person, and I never want to interfere with what others are doing or thinking.
This past Friday, a weird situation took place on my way to work. I spent the entire weekend researching the theories behind what happened. Despite all the researching I did, I still barely understand them and might never fully understand them.
To my relief, one of the most famous scientists in the field had said, “If you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don't understand quantum mechanics.”
So, I feel confident enough to write about the situation on Friday without understanding any of it.
Here it goes ...
I was talking to a stranger on the subway and realized we both went to the same school, lived in the same city, and had similar musical tastes. While talking to the stranger, I felt like they had the potential to become my new morning commute chit-chat buddy.

During our talk, I asked my new acquaintance about the time and watched as they pulled out a wristwatch with odd-looking symbols from their pocket. I couldn’t understand what time was displayed. Every time I blinked while staring at the watch, the digits would change.
My new acquaintance noticed I was staring at the watch and said, “This is a QE mood watch.”
I asked, “What's your current mood?”
“I'm in flux and entangled right now. So, it would be much appreciated if you cease your imposition of your observation on my identity.” They turned around and angrily walked away.
After such a perplexing conversation, I doubt we'll ever speak again.
So here I am, sitting by myself in the subway going to the office like I do every Monday to Friday while I write in my journal for some companionship.
I wonder if the next thing I’ll see is AI-driven Magic 8 Balls that make decisions for us within the quantum strings of plausibility, the ideal outcome based on our criteria for happiness. Will the Magic 8 Ball give us those criteria through self-monitoring? If so, will it create a feedback loop? Or will there be something else entangled and in charge?
Will these wearable qubit tech fads give us the insight to control our destiny, or will they manipulate us and decide our fate?
Perhaps in order for us to retain our individuality, our free will should remain as mysterious as our own chaotic nature, and our identity, complex.
