Dear readers,
May is the anniversary of when I first started writing How to write dumb boys, a struggle – of course, at the time, it didn’t have this weirdo title but a much simpler one – so I thought it was time for a little celebration and an update.
On the flip side: congrats little novel you’re another year older.
On the down(?) side: you’re still in the midst of growing up, so I can’t let go of you just yet.
A couple of things have happened since the last time I updated (which is much longer than I thought T_T) so here’s a check-in.
First of all, I finished book_three and book_three_point_five (working on the final volume right now!!!). The reason I decided to split them as such is... well, otherwise, book three would’ve been almost forty chapters long (roughly 160k). Also, in terms of story progression, book3.5 deserves its own place and title.
In addition, I started to re-edit all the chapters and will be refreshing them as I go. These edits focus on the nitty gritty, grammar mistakes, mostly proofreading and twinkling for better flow and the like. I don’t intend to change much of the plot. (Suggestions regarding how to improve the novel are always welcomed.)

I also opened a pinterest filled with moodboards that can help envision what went through my head writing certain scenes, how I imagine the characters to look like and just overall vibes all cluttered in one place yay! Hope you like them QwQ
During this past year I have not fared better in life (mentally or otherwise). It’s far from easy but I’m trying, and the fact that there’s still a little story playing in my head with all its charm and silliness helps a lot. That’s why I wanted to share it with the world so that maybe it can bring a smile to someone else’s face too.
I can’t say when I’ll get back to updating regularity – it depends on how fast I can burn through the editing process of book3 + 3.5 while writing the final book. I know it is slow going but I don’t want to rush myself then fuck up. This novel is still, first and foremost, a personal project of mine.
If there are any past readers still waiting for the continuation: Thank You for holding on (wow you are patient af, big flex). This trip have turned into a long-term camp, I know, so thank you for your patience. I am doing my best here and want to finish this novel in 2024. It is in the plans!
