Chapter 139: Cultural Festival Preparation! (Arc 14 Start)

"Everybody gather in the general common room in five minutes!"

As Lily's voice came through the college-wide projections, Wu had just stepped into his evening shower. With the flowing water rushing down his body and his mind occupied by a tune stuck in his head, the rest of the Wave users within the college had all gathered in the common room.

Lera was a few steps in towards the common room before she heard the sound of a shower, and it didn't take long for her to figure out the occupant within the cubicle. Taking a whole second to make her decision, she then marched towards Wu, first knocking on the door before jumping through the window and nearly crashing into him.

"AHHH!" Wu screamed before he realized the entrant is Lera, and the water Cast attached to the wall sprayed warm water all over Lera's face as she reached a hand to the side and shot an orb of the Wave straight through, destroying the Cast and cutting off the supply of water right away.

"Lera?! What are you doing here?" Wu asked with a confused look, but he made no attempt to hide anything from Lera as she forced herself to lock her eyes onto his instead of focusing on his well-built physique.

"You didn't hear about the announcement, did you?" Lera asked, pointing her fingers up in the air as Wu blinked with confusion. Then, Lera yanked the towel from the top of the door and loop it around Wu's waist before she pushed him out, "You wouldn't want to be late to Lily's announcement..."

By the time Wu got changed and started running towards the general common room with Lera, Lily's voice came blasting through the projection Casts again.

"Wu and Lera! Where the hell are you two?!"

"HERE!!!" Wu declared, sliding through the door straight into a deep bow with his hair still wet and Lera following right after him, "I apologize! I just went into the shower!"

"This time? At night?" There were murmurs echoing in the room. Then, Lily noticed that Lera's hair is also wet.

"You too? Lera?"

There were sounds of intrigue from the room before a few of the college trouble makers let out a few playful whistles.

"Huh...anyway. Let's get started." Lily said, turning towards Shin who pushed forward a massive wooden blackboard held by a simple structure Cast suspended in the air, "The Cultural Festival is going to happen in a week! And for the newcomers, and the latecomers, the Cultural Festival is a weeklong activity that acts as a celebration of the entire world, the Academy, and most importantly...you! All of you!

"As usual, if you are preoccupied to help other clubs and activities, please let me and Shin know beforehand. Otherwise, we will figure out what we will host as a college together."

"For now, we will take suggestions," Shin said, stepping forward with his Meat Maker Axe at the ready menacingly. The group of students lets out a laugh, and soon, many of them started conjuring up tiny bubbles of Wave before shooting them forward towards the blackboard.

"How about a beauty pageant with Lily as the star of the show?" One of the boys shouted, tossing his Wave orb forward before Shin leapt in the air and sliced that orb in half as Lily subtly shook her head.

"What about a cooking class? Or a cooking show?" One of the girls suggested, and that immediately tugged on Shin's weak point as he gripped his hands tightly around the handle of the Axe. Lily smirked slightly before nodding, and he allowed that idea to stick to the board.

"A food stall is always a safe bet." Another suggested, but that idea was shot down by Lily's jet of flames immediately.

"We are one of the biggest and oldest colleges, and we can do way better than that."

"Do you have culture festival on your world?" Lera asked Wu, leaning in beside him as chaos ensued with everyone shouting their ideas forward.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

"Oh yeah." Wu said, laughing, "Our worlds have a lot of similarities, and culture festivals are an absolute must in anime."

"So...do you have any suggestions?" Lera asked, forming an orb in her hand.

"I...have a few." Wu said, his eyes starting to lose focus, "I promised to bring the entertainment of my world to yours...and there are so many things we could do there... How about a roller coaster?"

"A Roller Coaster!" Lera shouted, sending her orb forward and Lily dashed in front, her hands grasping around that orb like a baseball before her burning eyes appeared from behind it.

"Is that phrase supposed to be humorous? Why would you want your coaster to roll?" Lily asked, her face enveloped in darkness before Wave started to rumble within her. Lera's forehead immediately started sweating as Shin quickly walked forward to hold her back.

"No! Let me explain." Wu said, leaping over the row of Sofa and students lying on it before he landed in between Lera and Lily, "A roller coaster is when we have a fixed track that a vehicle runs through..."

With ideas spinning in his head, combining his past experiences riding roller coasters on Earth and the seemingly endless possibilities of creation with Casts and the Wave, Wu then foretold his grand vision to the rest of the college.

"We can build a track using a massive structure Cast that spanned the entire sky. From which, we attach sets of golden chariots with special modifications and we run groups of people through the track at regular intervals." Wu explained, his hands demonstrating the chariots flying through the air.

"But we can ride a chariot any time." Another student commented, and Wu spun around before pointing quickly at him.

"But can you do it upside down?"

Everybody immediately became silent, then Lily slowly lowered her hand down, her eyes still locked onto Wu.

"If you ride a chariot upside down, won't you fall out?" Lily asked, and Wu smirked slightly before jumping into his teacher mode. He glanced around for an idea of demonstration before he went over and stripped the boots off Lera's feet as her face became red as an apple. Holding the boots by the strings, Wu then held it up in the air before drawing attention from everyone in the room.

"We all know we can only pull on the strings, not push it, right?" Wu asked, dangling Lera's boots as the students nodded. Then, he started swinging the boots around, slowing down as the boots spun overhead and drawing everyone's attention to it, "If that's the case, why can the boot remain above the string and my hand? That's because of centripetal forces when things are rotating. When an object is traveling about a center of rotation, the centripetal forces keep it exactly as it is relative to my hand, which is the center of rotation here...And that meant we can do the same with the golden chariots, so long as we keep a high enough speed."

Slowing the rate of spin, Wu then let the boots drop down after it barely made it to the peak. Returning the boots to a flustered Lera, he then jumped right in front Lily.

"That's why we need to build the structure Cast to house the Chariots! There will be no need for piloting, as the chariots will simply follow the guide of the track of the roller coaster!" Wu said, his hands gestured up in the air, "A massive spanning structure Cast, sets of fast traveling chariots flying through the air, doing crazy circles up and down! Now that's an attraction worthy of the Illiol college name!"

Lily stood there in place, still trying to grasp the concept. However, it became immediately clear that everybody in the room had been captivated by Wu's idea. If anything, it's never been done before.

"Ok." Lily said, "We will move forward with the Roller Coaster Project, with Wu at the lead!"

The students all cheered, and now, Wu's about to perform his second structural engineering project on Olympus Prime! Spinning around towards Lera who watched him and smiled, Wu gave her a wink, mouthing about how he will blow her mind again.

In the meanwhile in Ville college....

"So...it seems...the easiest thing to do would be to host a basic food stall..." Ita said, wiping the sweats along her forehead as she cursed how small her college actually is. Even with her working tirelessly to undo all the things that Charlie had imposed over the years, the students are still way too quiet, used to being dragged around and ordered about.

"How about a cooking competition?" Charlie suggested as Ita turned and looked at him as if he is acting stupid again, "If we host it, that means we don't have to cook?"

In the meanwhile in the Union...

"So, what are you thinking about the festival?" Shaila asked, her long smooth legs dangling off the edge of John's table and preventing him from focusing on his work, "You hosted a small tournament last year, but..."

"It could be a treasure hunt?" John said, smiling as he looked down at the piece of paper between Shaila's legs, "A treasure hunt that included both the greater area of the Academy, the forests, and the festival stalls themselves."

"Oh? What gave you that idea?" Shaila asked, her thin eyebrows elevating slightly.

"Ghost." John said, shrugging nonchalantly, "The resistance tried to steal away the Revolutionary Manuscript from within the Union Library, and let's see if they will bite again if we dangle it right in front of their eyes again."
