of all of the planets grbanth ever tried to subjecte to his will, the world of Terregh was the only one where he failed. Even as an entity considered a god by most intelligent life, only inferior to the Creator himself (and most of the other guardians), the anomalies and horrors that plagued this planet made him wonder how could any intellectual life survive, and thrive on it. It all began so long ago—long before the present century.
Grbanth was one of the nine guardians of the galaxy, and had already subjected tens of thousands of different planets. However, he was fighting a losing battle, as the 8 others have already expanded their influence much further than him. The world that was named Terregh, or as the locals of the planet called it: Terra, was arguably the most dangerous planet in the galaxy. But none of the nine knew this yet. The thought that there were some things even the great nine did not know; such as some the strange and terrible life-forms that inhabited this planet alone would make any exploratores stay as far away from there as possible.
The planet itself was located far off the galactic centre, on the edge of one the spiral arm.
It had been discovered many centuries earlier when kendiroff, a legendary explorator, found it in his search for some new planets for Grbanth to take hold of.
He explored the planet, but never came back. Ever since then, the planet had been left untouched, and its inhabitants almost forgotten about. No one cared to explore the place any more.
But now, as Grbanth was becoming more and more desperate, he decided to send a young explorator, a centaur named Bob, to scout out the planet that managed to kill one of the best survival experts in the galaxy. The horrors that awaited Bob there were too much for him. He barely got back with his life.
The rest of the explorers who were sent to explore it soon died of some unknown reason. And finally, at last, after all these years, no explorer had visited the place again. Its secrets remained untold... and the guardians of the galaxy were worried.
They decided to send a small expedition comprised of a small amount of the forces of each guardian to the planet. Grbanth's team consisting of five members. Their names were: Gob, Lob and Zob.
This is the short story of these three, who would be changed forever by the things they will see there.
----------------------------------------
Gob was the first one of the team to find out about the shit show they were about to face on this planet.
One night, while exploring a forest in the company of two other members from different squads of the expedition, Gob heard weird noises coming from somewhere. He went off into the dark woods, and saw what looked like a giant ant moving across the ground. And then another. And then a lot more of them.
"Pull back!"
he screamed. "Back to the camp! We have encountered an unknown species of insect-like creatures."
But the two other members didn't hear him. They kept on walking through the darkness, as if they didn't hear him at all.
So Gob had to move faster. He ran towards them, calling out "Stop!" over and over until they stopped.
As they turned around however, he stopped hearing the noises of the hoard of insects from behind him. He looked in horror, as the faces of his fellow expeditioner's faces were covered and being eaten by similar specimens of a much smaller scale.
They smiled at him , or at least tried to. They didn't have much of a face left when they did.
"What's wrong?" Said one of them.
Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.
"You seem very panicked." Did anything happen?" Said the other.
Suddenly, their bodies started to break down into more insects. They quickly moved to him him and then-
He woke up screaming back at the camp. the horrified dwarf heavily breathed as his buddies Lob and Zob tried to calm him down.
This was a horrible omen for a first day on an expedition, and before they met any of the native intelligent life forms no less.
Gob suspected there was something his superiors didn't tell him.
Lob was the next on the metaphorical chopping black.
3 days later during the expedition, he was sitting outside the camp eating dinner when he saw a glowing object above the horizon.
He immediately took out his magnifying scope and aimed it at the sky.
He couldn't determine what it was.
It was a green shining light.
The light slowly moved towards the camp. It seemed to be heading right for them, although it might just be a mirage caused by the heat of the sun.
The uneasy dwarf called for his friends, but none answered. This really is a wired planet isn't it?
Another few seconds passed and the glowing object reached the camp. Lob watched the thing with wide eyes. It was definitely getting closer.
Then suddenly, it came down and entered Lob's body.
Lob fell to the ground.
A second later, he felt pain all over his body. His head ached, and his mouth filled with a foul taste.
Whatever it was, it wasn't good.
Lob's friends finally came, but it was already too late.
They carried him to the camp.
The doctor came to examine him, and told then he wasn't poisoned, or I'll, and if he was he couldn't determine what it was...
And then he died.
Zob was the last one to receive the sings they should leave, as well as the final warning of whatever was on this planet telling them to "fuck off"
Two weeks later, Zob was exploring an old temple when he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his neck. He couldn't move.
Something inside him was injecting him with some sort of substance.
He tried to scream, but no words came out.
An entity with bright purple eyes appeared before him.
"Who are you?" said Zob.
"I am but a simple mage" replied the entity.
"A Mage?! What kind of magic can-"
"Shut up!" said the entity.
"Listen to me closely." His voice ached in the dark corridors of the temple.
"You need to make all of your little friends leave this planet as soon as possible, because your intrusion on it isn't welcome. Before those of much higher strength than me notice you, you should leave. For they are far far more ruthless then I am."
"You're lying."
"I'm not. "I'm not." The strange mage than gave him a ring. It seemed to be made of some sort of silver-ish material, and different symbols that looked as if they were made of rubies were imbued onto it. A big gem he didn't recognize with a dark red color ominously radiated a weak red light.
"Take this," he commanded. "When you get home, give it to whoever is in charge the exploration force. Do not allow anyone to wear it before him." It said.
"This is your final warning. Leave, or suffer the consequences."
He then ring dropped to the ground, the echo of the sound filled the room, as it landed right in front of him.
With that the creature vanished.
Zob stared at his hands where the ring lay. The faint glow emanating from it being one of the only lights in the room, and he touched the stone embedded within it. It burned warmly against his fingers.
Was it real? Was it a trick played upon him by this mysterious mage? Or maybe the whole thing was nothing but a hallucination brought on by exhaustion.
Whatever it was, he needed to hurry and return to the camp. If this was indeed a trap, than he should bring it to the experts at the camp as soon as possible.
His thoughts were interrupted by a sudden loud noise. Something was flying overhead. He ducked under the low ceiling and hid beneath the floor. Moments later, the entire temple shook violently. Then everything went quiet.
He woke up at the camp, streams of cold sweat running down his face. He looked right besides him, and there it was.
Inscribed on the ring's surface were the same strange symbols, this time glowing with a soft blue hue, different than what he remembered from what seemed to be a dream.
The symbols and the gem looked now more sapphire-ish.
Perhaps the color indicated something, but he didn't know what.
he put it in his backpack for now, not wanting to comply with the instructions of the mage, but also not wanting to just throw it away.
As the dwarf sat straight up from bed, he noticed that the other members of the expeditionary force had woken up also. All except one. One member still slept peacefully beside him. Everything was fine, for now.
some time had gone by without incident, but one fateful day, Zob woke up to the sound of his fellow expeditioners running outside the large tent they shared.
"What happened?" Asked Zob.
Gob "We received a call from the central command."
"Some of the intellectual life forms on this planet have been located, and engagement with them is imminent."
