Even though they could've gone for longer, they both stopped. He wanted to spend more time with her while she had grown tired of the public eyes on her. With a small nod of his head in a different direction, she agreed, following him. He had plans that were printed in his brain, a schedule that was without a doubt going to be the best. He had spent the remainder of Friday putting it together diligently. His focus was on making their date enjoyable for her, his thoughts hoping that she was enjoying it.
She was completely in awe about how fun the world was. Her thoughts were consumed with wonder. She wondered if this was what she was missing out on. She had been completely isolated, but was it okay not to be? She told herself that this was okay, but she couldn't help but feel guilty. The thought of continuing to have fun when others couldn't begin to cloud her thoughts. She worked to push them away, her gaze falling on Kai. He was slowly changing her life, and she was leaving home to do things. This was not something that she was used to, but she wanted to continue.
Kai stayed to his schedule, taking her to a restaurant nearby so that they could eat. Jennie watched his charm ooze with every action, his words pulling her heart closer. She could feel herself falling, and there was no turning back. She wanted to build the wall, but she wanted to see where things could go. While she got up to go to the restroom, she let her heart recover from its excitement. It had become so much. As she went to the restroom, she noticed her pink, flushed face. She was really falling for him. She walked towards the sink, taking some water to throw against her face. She patted her face dry, giving herself a pep talk in the process. It was going to be okay, and she knew that because of him.
As she walked from the restroom, she noticed him talking to himself. It made her smile, thinking that he was just very shy. He seemed like he was rehearsing something, and this began to make her heart pound more. Every step that she took, she wondered. Kai stopped, his attention turning to her as she returned. She sat down at the table, her smile growing. He took a breath, looking at the plate that she finished. He lay his head on his hands, his stare making her heart flutter.
"Ready?" He motioned for the door, the receipt in his hand. She nodded reluctantly, his hand stretching out to assist her in standing.
While they walked to the door, her heart began to pound again. She now wondered what else there was to plan. As they walked out onto the street, his hand flinched at the thought of pulling her closer. She watched as he led her towards the bus stop, standing behind the bench. He took something from his pocket while she stared questionably. His hands slid the lid off, revealing a mall pendant necklace. He handed it to her, the shape of a heart. Jennie stood in complete shock, wondering if she should accept it. His breath became short, worry setting in as he watched nervously. He wondered if she liked it but wasn't sure.
"Should I put it on you?" He asked, her eyes moving to his.
She was still collecting her thoughts while her head nodded. He smiled as he walked behind her, placing it around her neck. She touched it softly, the cold metal touching her skin. As he clipped the necklace, lifting her hair as she adjusted it on her neck, he knew what he wanted to say. The words were there, the feelings were there, but was it the right time?
"Now, you can think of me often. You do have my heart." He joked, making her smile as she looked down at the heart-shaped pendant.

While they waited for the bus, she listened to his words as he talked about reading. She tried continuing the conversation, mentioning how he was full of surprises. His heart melted at the thought, catching her admiring the necklace. When the bus arrived, the two boarded, sitting at the back. He let her sit closest to the window, remembering how much she enjoyed looking out in the taxi. He knew the bus ride was going to be longer, watching her stare. She felt like she was in a dream, asking herself if this was what life was like when she moved on. The thoughts she'd been feeling for years that constantly haunted her and pushed her were now becoming minuscule in comparison to how she was feeling now.
Her eyes flickered from the buildings that stood tall; their glorious image painted the city skyline. She looked at the window, this time staring only at the reflections of the two of them. She saw his eyes on her, trying to hold back her thoughts as she slowly turned to face him. She was falling for his confidence, his eyes that weren't scared to look away and that only wanted to look at her. She could feel her heart beginning to soar as she thought about the chance to keep going.
It wouldn't take long before she was becoming tired, her head hanging down as she started to drift off to sleep. Her body tried holding it up, failing as it bounced with the bus. Kai reached over, lightly pushing her head against his shoulder. He smiled successfully as her head dropped against his shoulder, and she fixed herself to lay against him. As her body slowly began to relax, she began to dream. Her thoughts of Kai and her being together influence her dreams. Her dreams helped paint a soft smile, Kai noticing and smiling in response.
He waited patiently, watching every stop and trying to be careful with her resting body. He was in love. He knew that much. He tried to figure out when it happened, but there was no stopping it at this point. He was ready to dive into her heart and was not afraid of drowning. As she lay against him, he prepared himself. He was ready to throw everything away, wondering when he would be able to. He was sure that he wanted to be with her, and he couldn't think of life any other way.
The bus slowly began coming to their stop, prompting him to slowly wake her. He was carefully breaking her from slumber as she sat up, confused. He hated having to wake her, helping her become aware as the bus came to a complete stop. He held out his hand, pulling her from the seat as they departed the bus. Jennie fixed her hair, straightening her clothes as they began their walk towards their homes. She yawned from exhaustion, soon wondering if this was his plan all along. He had a successful smile on his face, his head held high while he walked close to her. She watched his mood, his arm pulling her close.
"Should we just keep walking?" His voice carried, her brain waking up more. She looked at him as he winked, continuing to guide her tired body up the hill. "Or should I carry you?" The thought of him carrying her made her giggle.
Jennie was enjoying her time with Kai, but she was still waiting. She was waiting to figure out more. Her eyes looked at him, the same guy that she met the morning she went to school. The moments in class and even their kiss made her heart beat fast. Her mind flooded with memories of him and how his presence seemed to make things better. Maybe she did want this and should just give in. As her thoughts began to settle, she wanted to give him an answer. Her words built the sentence, her body gathering its strength and her eyes searching for him. She was ready, but the sound of other footsteps took her mind away.
She heard the steps in front of them boom, the sound of weight being thrown around. She tried to stay calm, scanning the neighborhood that she had grown to know. Her eyes and body stopped when a shape in the night looked towards her. Kai looked at her worriedly, his eyes following until he saw. They both looked at Tae, who was returning from taking the trash out, his eyes locked on both of them.
She was scared to move, so Kai pulled her closer. Tae stood by, his eyes looking from the jacket he had wrapped Jennie in and the shiny pendant that lay idle against her skin. His feet wanted to move, but there was nothing to say. He had tried and, as a result, had a bruise on his cheek and back. As he tried walking away, his frustrations built as his name was called. He stopped in place, the sound of footsteps being heard behind him.
