As the night passed, Minji had decided to go home. Jennie walked her down, paying for the taxi that would take her home. Jennie continued to stay at the hospital, sitting in the chair that was close. Her body soon could not take much longer as it began to grow heavy from her lack of sleep. She tried to strain her body, wanting to stay awake, but ultimately falling asleep. She lay on the bed, half of her body in the chair, while the rest lay on the bed.
The night would slowly creep by, the day beginning and shining light on through the window of the room. As the two lay there sleeping, the sound of birds began to fill the surroundings. The light from the sun would dance along their skin as the two lay there. The nurse walked in, coming to check on his vitals before leaving. The sound of the door awoke Jennie, and she looked to see his sleeping face. Kai was still not awake, and this worried her. She remembered when she woke up, the memories she held from the exact moment she lay in a bed similar to this one. She stood up, looking to stretch her body, and ached slightly. She raised her arms over her head, stretching while she watched him.
She moved her head from side to side, letting it rest and stretch from the awkward position she held all night. As the morning slowly progressed, she couldn't see herself leaving him there. When she had asked everyone to leave before, she had to admit it was when she felt the loneliest. She stayed close by, scared to go to the cafeteria in case he woke up while she was away. To pass the time, she continued to check on him, making sure he was comfortable while he slept. Her thoughts began to drift, and she was left staring at him. Soon, she would fall asleep once again, waiting for him to wake.
The nurses and doctors would quietly come in to change the bandages, replacing his IV line, until his eyes began to flicker. His eyelids flicked from side to side before opening and catching the attention of his nurse. She would look relieved at him, beginning her procedures of checking his vitals before retreating to find the practicing doctor. Kai lay in the bed, looking around and trying to gather his surroundings as he saw Jennie lying down next to him. She was sitting in the chair while sleeping on the bed. He smiled softly to himself as the thoughts began to run through his mind before his guilt caught up with him. So much for a day 1.
He waited patiently as he watched her; she was sleeping soundly until the sound of the door opened. The nurse and the doctor came inside, the sound of the door and their voices startling Jennie awake. She looked back, concerned, before frantically looking at Kai. He gave a reassuring smile, taking her hand in his as they listened to the doctor. The doctor questioned him about the injuries, gaining the attention of Jennie, who was also curious.
"I, uh, wrestle and train." He told the partial lie, getting a nod from the doctor.
"Well, I say you will need to take a break. If I need to make an excused note, let me know. We are going to run some tests, and you'll be able to go home." He smiled and turned to the nurse. They continued their conversation as they walked out. Jennie turned to face Kai, who was caressing her hand as he held himself in deep thought.
"Monggu, where is he?" The scared tone in his voice, he had forgotten all about him. He motioned to get up before Jennie stood up.

"Minji is taking care of him. She left him with food and water at my place." She reassured him, and he nodded.
"How long have you been here?" She shook her head to change the subject, but her stomach would begin to growl. "How about food?" He asked instead, waiting for her reaction. She shook her head again, looking at their hands.
"I don't want to leave you alone." The words filled his heart, and he could not help but fall more for her charm.
"I'll wait right here. Promise." He held out his pinky, and she hesitated to grab it before sealing the promise. As she walked away slowly from the bed, he saw her uncertainty and called out to her. "When I can leave, let's have a real meal." She turned to check his smiling face, which continued to fail at any attempt to cheer her completely up. Her worries were still in the way, and she could only nod her head before leaving.
When she left the room, Kai would look down at his shirt. Analyzing the bandages and wounds he had while reaching for his chart that was left. He began to read the chart, trying to understand the degree of his injuries. The thoughts of what occurred consistently flashed in and out of his mind. He sat back, thinking about the events, remembering Krystal walking from his room before he tried to begin studying.
He had heard the chatter and talk amongst all those downstairs, the voices growing louder and fainter. He knew that his father's voice was louder than the others, assuming the fainter was the other father. For a moment, he could have sworn to hear his name being called, but he was not sure. He stood up for a moment, walking to the door and pressing his ear against it so that he could hear. There it was again. He opened the door, coming out to be face to face with his father, who was walking down the hall towards him. The laughing face and professional demeanor that he held previously had completely shifted. Meeting his father in the middle of the hall, he was grabbed by the neck and pushed forward to walk down the stairs.
He walked down, looking over the awning and seeing his mother, Krystal, and her parents, who all watched. His father followed behind him; the alcohol he smelled on his father's breath was strong and filled his nostrils. Kai tried to brush away the smell, getting to the bottom of the stairs before being pushed the remainder of the way. Krystal let out a yelp as she watched him fall, collapsing to the floor as he held his side. His father stepped out over him, walking towards the bar that was set up along the stairs before having a seat. It would be moments after getting up, hearing the ferocious boom of his father yelling. He tried to ignore it, standing up and trying to appear normal.
"Now, give a proper goodbye." He seethed, taking a drink of his cup of whisky. Kai stood up, his face looking at Krystal, who tried not even to make eye contact.
"Bye." He let the words fall out, and she waved. She tried to force a smile as her mother stood awkwardly, and her father's frown was similar to Kai's father's.
"Bye." She spoke softly and tried to reach the door before his father stood once more. His feet pounded against the floor as they trudged to Kai to deliver a hard slap. This slap landed on his face, forcing him to the ground. Krystal let out a yelp, trying not to notice. Her father pushed her forward, trying to lead her from the house. The moment she left, there was little left to hold his father back.
Kai tried to lift his head up, looking at his father's face before receiving a kick to the stomach. The words that were yelled were familiar; it was something he had learned to handle. He let them spew, trying to catch every blow that his father threw. It was continuous, and he wasn't sure how long it lasted. In the final memory, Kai watched his mother in tears, trying to find a way to help. She stood helplessly, trying to calm his father down as he picked up his final weapon. He walked towards Kai, raising his arm before throwing down the final weapon and slamming it on top of his head.
