Toronto was in complete chaos. Jayden swooped down, scanning the wreckage for Aiden. He spotted him sitting on a boulder, looking shaken but otherwise unharmed.
“Aiden, you good?” Jayden asked as he landed beside him.
Aiden nodded slowly, though he was clearly dazed. “Yeah... I guess. What the hell just happened, man?”
Jayden quickly filled him in on everything—Jacob, the Chaos Scepter, the crack in the sky. By the time he was done, Aiden’s eyes were wide with disbelief.
“Dude... that’s insane,” Aiden muttered, rubbing his temples. “I mean, we just fought angels, and now Jacob's gone full-on god complex with some Chaos Scepter?”
Jayden gave him a grim nod. “Yeah, it's bad. Real bad.”
They decided to head to another city and regroup. After flying for a while, they found a bus station and waited for the next ride to Vancouver.

Sitting on the bench, Aiden groaned. “Man, I can't believe we’re taking a bus after all that. We got wings, for crying out loud!”
Jayden shrugged, leaning back. “Yeah, well, I’m not flying all the way to Vancouver. My wings need a break.”
Eventually, the bus came. They climbed inside and collapsed into their seats, completely wiped from the day’s events. After what felt like an eternity, they arrived in Vancouver. The city was a lot quieter compared to Toronto’s chaos, and they quickly caught a taxi to head toward Mount Washington.
Hours later, they hiked up the mountain trail. The cool air felt refreshing, but when they reached the house, Jayden stopped dead in his tracks.
“Oh crap...”
The house was a charred wreck—burned down to nothing but blackened wood and ashes.
A crow suddenly swooped down from the sky, landing on Jayden’s shoulder. He glanced at it, immediately recognizing the bird.
“Isaac?” Jayden muttered, staring at the bird as it cawed in response.
Aiden, still in shock from the sight of the ruined house, stammered, “Uh... want me to call Zia? She still wants me to go back to her place...”
Jayden shook his head. “Nah. Let me see your phone, though. I need to make a call.”
Aiden handed over the phone without a word. Jayden took it, quickly typing in a number he knew by heart. After a couple of rings, someone picked up on the other end.
“’Ello?” a voice answered.
“Hey, Luke, it’s Jayden,” he said, sighing into the receiver. “Think I can crash at your place in New York for a bit?”
