--* Mildr City, World Nations’ Central Army Base *--
It was a massacre. Even though the entirety of Mildr City was covered by an almost imperceptible dome that would block off the Blood Rain, it still managed to rain blood inside, along with severed limbs and dead corpses. Screams of terror and shock were everywhere as soldiers tried their best to run from the monster behind them.
With a swipe of a hand, dozens of men would die. With a single tendril, hundreds would fall victim. With a simple kick, buildings would be torn down. It truly was deserving of being called a demon. It’s piercing red eyes seemed to be able to strike deep into someone’s soul and tear them apart into insanity. The black tattoos covering the monster’s lithe body would occasionally move and snake around, like a crawling parasite.
“Ahh---!” another scream echoed out as another soldier was sent to the afterlife. These soldiers originally thought that the demon hidden inside of the Aptitude Testing Building was their ticket to becoming an important officer, or at least gaining the attention of one. They could not predict that the “ticket” they had sought for was not a ticket for success, but a ticket for death.
Blood continued to splatter the ground as heads rolled and limbs fell.
Even with the barrage of metal that cascaded upon the Demon, the tendrils would block the bullets and absorb them, or even just pass through the creature's body. Any melee fighters would be decapitated or at least horrifically mangled. The only choice these soldiers had was to run.
“Attention all military personnel, the unidentified Demon has been deemed a Calamity Level being. Please focus on evacuating all citizens and steer away from the battlefields. All officers and high ranking fighters are to gather at the 87th Block and try to defeat or at least stall the Demon,” the loud blaring sounded off once again, signifying another announcement.
Multitudes of citizens and trained personnel were quickly evacuated from the surrounding buildings, though many lives were extinguished in tandem, as the Demon continued its unabated rampage.
“Roooooaaaggghhhhh-------!” a terrifying screech challenged the loudness of the panicked soldiers’ cries. The mist and tendrils of darkness surrounding the Demon suddenly warped and spun, like a tornado. Slowly, the darkness seemed to swirl around the Demon’s body, compressing and forming intricate shapes. As this occurred, the creature had stopped its rampaging and stood still, staring up at the red sky. Around him were mountains of corpses and ruined buildings.
“Hahahaha! This is great… This power…!” the figure laughed, his voice filled with a satisfied sound. The black mass had already coalesced around the figure and had completely disappeared. Left behind was a humanoid, clad in pitch black armor. Though the creature’s body seemed small, almost frail, it emitted a terrifyingly powerful aura. His eyes were a piercing crimson and seemed menacing underneath his night-like hair, which was dotted by dark blue flames. On the Demon’s face was a maniacal smile, but also held a certain softness.
Before the Demon could rejoice its new appearance however, a wave of bullets rained down on him, directly striking him and his black armor. What was truly strange was the fact that none of them had hit, as if they had phased through the demonic body.
Standing a few paces away from the Demon was a crowd of soldiers, both in green military uniforms and purple robes.
“Fire!” an order echoed out, as more bullets flew towards the Demon, only to be completely nullified.
“Mystics, Fire Barrage and Lightning Strike!” with another yell, a torrent of flames and lightning replaced the useless bullets as the Demon raised his hands towards the wall of magic.
“Into the void, disappear…” silent words were mumbled from his mouth. With the last syllable, the wall of flames and electricity completely vanished, as if it was a mere illusion.
With their mouths gaping, the soldiers stared in shock as they watched the pitch black demon casually strolling towards them; a terrifying grin was still plastered upon his face. Before the unfortunate soldiers and Mystics could react or panic however, an ancient voice grew from the crowd.
“From the Angel’s uprising, I bring down the Lord’s wrath, Descent of Light!” the voice incanted, each word seemed to be fueled by an immense amount of energy. As the incantation began, the surroundings slowly began to glow with a soothing white light, which only grew in intensity with each proceeding syllable. With a final roar, it seemed as if the whole area was draped by a blanket of radiance.
“Hmhmhm… nice spell,” underneath the glow, a pair of red eyes penetrated through the feeble light. With bone chilling might, it appeared as if a mirror had broken as the radiant beam shattered. Once the shards impacted the ground, they turned into a gathering of floating particles.
From hope to despair, the soldier’s emotions were thrown around like a ball, to be played with like a fool. What would have destroyed at least over a hundred enemy soldiers was easily distinguished by a simple boy. The granite ground had long since turned into melted rock, yet the part the Demon had stood on remained unharmed. The particles of light surrounding him only served to fuel their fear even farther.
“Squad One and Two, flank him. Mystic Squad One, prepare Adamant Prison. We have to stall for the General,” the commanding officer from earlier once again hatched a plan, hoping that the demon wouldn’t be too cunning to ruin it immediately. If they couldn’t kill the creature, they could at least stall it even at the cost of their lives.

Instantly, sixteen soldiers split off from the group of fifty to the left and right side of the Demon. As they ran, minute shots were taken as they aimed their rifles towards the Demon, who had begun to walk towards the crowd of soldiers once more. From the group, ten robed individuals had crossed their hands into a strange symbol and started chanting. Behind them, the ancient voice from earlier also sounded out the words, increasing the power of the spell. As for the rest of the soldiers, many of them were crouched on the ground, shooting at the Demon trudging on towards them. The others placed their hands upon the shoulders of the chanting Mystics; a faint light came from their arms that was greedily absorbed into the chanters’ bodies.
“Since the dawn of time, he has held our world,” they began.
“The bearer of the lands and the holder of the sky,” as each word was released, the air increasingly became more concentrated with energy.
“Atlas, and the chains that hold you to servitude,” the concentrated energy slowly seeped into the melted ground.
“We ask for your aid,” suddenly, the ground began to glow.
“…to seal this being!” in a split second, hundreds, if not, thousands of chains erupted from the ground and latched upon the body of the demonic being. The chains were fit of being called adamant, as no matter how much the creature struggled, none of them would bend or break.
“Hahaha! Amusing! How amusing. So, you’re stalling for time? We’ll see who’ll last first…” the Demon’s childish, yet menacing voice erupted. With a heavy exhale, the Demon grasped one of the chains binding him and pulled, completely ripping the metal from the melted soil. Although he could not even put a mark on the deep blue metal, its foundations was simple concrete. A simple pull can detach the chain from the ground and cause the durable metal to turn into fragile dust.
That single action placed deep fear within the watching soldiers. They had wanted to reinforce the ground, but all of the Mystics were focused on maintaining the Adamant Prison. The drawback of group incantations was that no one in the formation can change spells or stop by themselves, unless the whole group terminates the spell. In addition, the Mystic’s energy would be absorbed to prevent disasters from occurring if a spell collapsed without termination.
Seconds turned to minutes as the Demon continued to pull at the chains binding him. At his feet were piles of dust from the withered chains. Another pull was another chain not binding him. The soldiers surrounding him could only watch helplessly as the Mystics poured more and more energy into the spell. Their faces were already beginning to pale; streaks of sweat ran down from their foreheads as many of them made pained looks.
“Hah, Subject #10473, Codename Limperus. You’ve gone too far this time…” a loud voice bellowed. After hearing the domineering voice, the crowds of soldiers split apart to create a path for the new arrival, their eyes filled with renewed hope. The Mystics stood their ground as their eyes closed in concentration to halt their spell with a cancellation method.
“General Grann… How did it feel to seal me huh?” the Demon sneered as his eyes turned an ugly glare at the massive man walking towards him. By now, almost all of the chains have turned into dust due to being pulled or being forcibly terminated by the Mystics. Only a few more remain, though they did not have the slightest chance to restrain the Demon as the figure clad in black suddenly disappeared. Only the General was able to perceive the Demon and its enraged rush. Raising his rough palms, the General gripped the space in front of him and latched onto the Demon’s knuckle.
“Too slow,” with a flick of his arm, the General launched the creature tens of yards away.
With a flip in midair, the Demon landed on his feet, cracking the brittle ground with the force. Once again, he charged towards the large man, only to be repeatedly thrown around. Like a flashing light, it continued to rush towards the general, lost in a bout of rage.
*Faster* *Faster* *FASTER*
The stone beneath their feet had been turned to powder due to the Demon’s heavy, rage-filled steps. With a punch to the face, he was met by a blocking palm. With a kick to the ribs, he was met by a blocking arm. Even with a tendril summoned from his armor was met fiercely by a vicious kick, knocking back the tentacle to the Demon.
“Grrraaaarrgggg-----!” it had already lost all of its sanity. The only thing the Demon could think of was revenge. Revenge against the man that had defeated him and allowed a weak Mystic to seal him inside the body of a child. Revenge against the weak body it was sealed inside of. Revenge against the world.
You’ve unlocked four new spells! (I couldn't think of a good article to write)
Descent of Light – Burn your enemies with the power of the heavens! Or maybe just to get a tan.
Adamant Prison – Hate someone? Send them to prison! With chains! Unless they’re into that…
Fire Barrage – Want a more hellish burning? Then spew forth walls of fire for a nice roast!
Lightning Strike – This spell is quite shocking, so don’t be so electrified as to try using it on yourself.
