Wandless Magic pt.2

"What do you think happened back then?"

"I don't know..." Ethan said after thinking for a while, "Are you saying that Luke...?"

"Yes! I don't know the reason for it, I have tried everything at my disposal to find out why but your brother seemed to have absorbed most of your mother's Veela's power. Even though all you siblings could be considered half-Veela's but your brother's blood is purer than even yours. His golden hair is proof of it."

"So?" Ethan asked, "You said all these things, just to prove, what exactly?"

"I want your brother to carry on advancing on both physical and mana." Michael said with a straight face, before Ethan could interrupt he raised his hands, "I don't know what you think of me, but I won't put any of my sons through that, and that includes Luke."

"Currently he is just going to be studying the basics of both means, so we're not in a hurry to argue who's wrong or right. So I want to use this time for both of us to reach a single conclusion." Michael continued, "What do you think, is the main issue when a wizard is forced to choose a single path?"

"From what I've seen previously throughout my life, and what I've seen today just keeps concluding to the same fact, that our means of using magic has severely handicapped us." Michael answered his own question, "Wands, although a great invention with several benefits, for our lineage it has proven to be nothing but a mistake."

"The physical type can't continuously use magic alongside whilst the mana type can't use weapons alongside their magic."

"You're talking about wandless magic? I can see how you drew that conclusion." Ethan nodded, with Michael's previous words it seemed he didn't want to rush things without proper research so there was no point for him not to participate in the said research to reach his own conclusion on the matter and needlessly argue with Michael, "With wandless magic, one can pursue both physical and mana advancements with much ease. But that's only on the surface, there are several problems with learning both paths at once."

"One problem at a time," Michael said, "I do know the difficulties, especially the amount of mana reserve one would need to pursue both to perfection, not to mention our family's curse."

"Sigh! Wandless magic could solve one of the major external problems, but the matter still remains that it's extremely unstable not to mention the amount of expertise it would need to do decent wandless magic, let alone reach perfection. Even the strongest wizard of our time couldn't do much without a wand,"

Michael nodded, "Depending on the purity of Luke's Veela nature he should be able to do wandless magic just depending on his genetics alone, and to check that, I'll take him to your mother's village soon."

"I know, Veela's magic is completely different compared to regular intensive spells but there's no harm in seeing it through," Michael added, "And to increase our odds at solving this problem, I want you to go to Uagadou, the headmistress there is proficient in wandless magic which again relies heavily on their practices could help us figure things out further."

"You want me to go to Uganda?" Ethan asked, "What about Luke's training, I mean..."

"I am more than capable of teaching him, and you should know that very well." Michael said, "I know you're worried about him, but if you keep looming over him like a ghost, he'll never grow. So it's better if you're away at that."

"I have already sent a letter to the headmistress, she can be a bit cranky but she owes me a favor, so I am certain she wouldn't refuse." Michael said, "Learn all you can from her, so you can teach your brother better!"

Ethan wanted to raise various complaints but in the end gave it up, "I should get ready for my trip then."

Michael took out an envelope from his desk and handed it to him, "I have already booked your plane ticket for tonight, and I have also listed the portkeys and their locations, so you can travel faster."

"It's annoying to think that you didn't even consider me rejecting your absurd idea." Ethan took a deep breath taking the envelope, "But just to be clear, if there's anything amiss with the plan you have brewing in your head, I won't hesitate to stop you."

Saying what he needed to say, Ethan walked out of the office. Michael stood up taking another swig of the Skele-gro potion. "I wonder if I am really doing the right thing..."

"If I follow through with this, the clock will undoubtedly start heading for the endgame."

"And if I don't, the same misery will continuously follow our family till death." Michael walked around his desk heading for the door as well, "The boy who lived... unfortunately for us, there might not even a single one of us left to bear that title."

"Olivia... I really hope you don't hate me for this..."

"Luke!" Ethan walked into Luke's room to find Jacob there as well, "It's good that you're here too."

"I want to lecture you heavily on the matter of what you did today," Ethan said to Luke who had his head down, "But I'll spare you of it, hoping you'll take this as a lesson. There's a book on magic safety in the library, and I want you to get the details of it down to the very last word."

"I understand," Luke said surprised as to why he was suddenly free of his punishment, "Is everything okay?"

"Sure it is." Ethan replied with a shrug turning towards Jacob, "I want you to take care of him while I am gone, and make sure to not let dad over do his thing."

"Are you heading out for a job?" Jacob asked, "Alone? Where?"

"Uganda." Ethan said without explaining things further, "It's an assignment I must complete alone, so just do as I ask,

"I'll take care of the brat, but why are you acting all secretive?" Jacob leaned back on his chair, "How long will it take you to be back?"

"Yeah! Isn't it dangerous for you to go alone?" Luke added, "You just said, that you guys worked better as a team."

"Don't worry, it's not anything risky. Just think of it as me going abroad for a study trip." Ethan said grabbing his two brothers into a hug, "I don't know how long I'll be gone but I'll be sure to send letters."

Jacob struggled to get out of the hug wanting to know more but as soon as he heard the word 'study', he immediately gave up on it, as for Luke, he was just relieved that he wasn't going to get a lecture today and that his brother wasn't going to be in any harms way.

'Looks like everyone is preparing for something big so I can't lose out! I'll need to gather more resources and knowledge, hopefully even some like-minded peers!' Luke thought to himself.

"By the way, when will I start my school year? Since Ilvermorny is closer, I'll be attending there right?" He looked at his brothers and decided to ask, "Would I be attending this year or the next? I just want to be prepared for it... you know... guys? What's wrong?"
