Daddy's Boy pt.4

"Enough!" Michael roared, "I can't say much about your training but it's clear that you all lack discipline!"

Jacob immediately stood away like the good soldier he was, as Ethan stared back at him, "As you could see, we have been faring well without discipline."

"Don't flatter yourself too much, you and I both know that decoding magic at that level takes a long time, the time your enemy wouldn't give to you. Let alone with your focus on just a single spell, all I would need to do was change my spell or run away." Michael ranted on, "I do give you props on your mastery over spells and runes, and your tactics, but if you're satisfied with just that then I can only say that I am disappointed,"

'Did he just repeat the same script he read to me?' Luke thought to himself as his eyebrows couldn't help but twitch,

"You've got something to say?" Michael looked straight at him as if he could sense Luke cursing him in his thoughts,

"Me? Nothing at all..." Luke said with a bit more confidence than before as he could sense that Michael's strictness seemed nothing but a bit of a facade towards his son, "I just think that Ethan winning still counts as a victory after all you set the rules to this duel, maybe if the rules were different, both of them would've acted differently and who knows what the conclusion might've been then."

"It's just my opinion is all." Luke took a couple of steps back hiding behind Ethan under the menacing glare and the familiar pressure he was on.

"I understand," Micheal replied after a long silence, "Let's see how you'll fare then."

"Me?" Luke looked shocked, "What do you mean, me? I can't use magic or any of the goofy things Jacob did."

"Who says you have to win," Michael replied,

"But I..."

Ethan got down to his knees, facing Luke, "Don't worry, he isn't going to be attacking so just do what you can do."

Luke nodded, knowing that Michael was only going to be blocking his attack. So no matter what he did, it wasn't going to matter at all, not that he could do anything towards a full-grown monster to begin with.

"Can I pick a weapon?" Luke asked as under Michael's permission he went over to the briefcase and with the help of Ethan he picked out a couple of things shoving them deep in his pockets.

Luke took out a pair of gloves he had taken from the briefcase putting them on, the gloves were made up of thin material but from what Ethan said, the gloves had pretty decent defense and durability as it was made with Erumpent's hide, but not much of anything else.

"I'll start then." Luke took a deep breath, his brothers looking at him in anticipation, Luke nodded at Michael like Ethan did before, as he launched his attack.

"Take this attack! Wheel of punches!!"

"..."

Stolen novel; please report.

"Is he serious?" Jacob asked looking at his brother running straight to Michael and began throwing punches at his ankle while rotating his entire arm for a punch,

"I mean, he is young so once he grows taller he might..." Ethan was trying to find a way to defend his brother's action but he couldn't find the right word to do so, 'Once he learns magic, then we can judge him fairly but as of now we can only say that he's courage-'

"Hey- Ethan... what did he take from the suitcase," Jacob asked interrupting his thoughts,

"What do you mean?" Ethan looked back at his little brother only to be left shocked.

Luke after throwing several punches stepped back already tired and huffing crashing on the ground. He glanced at Michael who hadn't even put up a spell as he kept staring at him with a monotonous look.

"Do I have to keep doing this for the whole 5 minutes!" Luke complained preparing himself as he stood up again and went in for another round of throwing randomized punches but this time Luke after throwing a handful of punches, threw the dirt he had collected during his fall towards Micheal's face.

Although those tricks wouldn't amount to much, a distraction was all he needed as Michael closed his eyes for a split second.

Luke immediately took out a potion jar from within his pocket drenching his glove in the potion, and punched out.

The Erumpent Potion as its name suggested came from the Erumptent, a magical beast that resembles a rhinoceros, although its skin and horns had tons of different properties that could be used as ingredients for potions, alchemy and even blacksmithing.

The most basic potion that could be made from the list of ingredients it provided was the said potion. Made from several of the Erumpent's parts including its horn and tail, out of which, the main ingredient in the potion was the exploding fluid that resided in its horn.

The Erumpent potion exploded within a mere touch of outside contact, although the explosion could be contained depending on the concentration of the fluids, the irregularity of its volatile nature remained the same. Like a Molotov, that's been lit on fire, once you exposed the potion to the outside environment, you could only hope for the best that it lands on the said target.

So as soon as Luke drenched his gloves he began punching Michael immediately which resulted in a mild explosion upon contact with his leg. The explosion itself was bright and hot, non the less it worked as intended.

Luke let out a smile as he knew there was not a lot of damage he could've done and this was his best bet. So right before the fight when he had the choice of using a weapon he rummaged around the weapon's luggage.

As the primary weapon bag, Ethan and Jacob carried out during their 'hunting trips', there were a lot of lethal weapons in the bag, most of them were weapons not only bigger than him but he lacked the expertise needed to use them.

While rummaging through the bag he even found several guns but since his intention was not to kill, he looked past it, after five minutes of consulting with Ethan, he finally chose the glove and also secretly took a bottle of the Erumpent potion.

What seemed to be the best plan for a minute completely backfired as the explosion sent him flying a couple of feet back.

"Luke!" Ethan and Jacob came running over to check on him.

"I am good!" Luke said as he got up a little with Ethan's help, coughing up some black smoke as he looked at where Michael was, wondering if his tactics worked, but to his dissatisfaction, Michael was standing just as he did from the very beginning. Not even a scratch on him or even his pants for that matter.

While his intention was to catch him off guard and have him take even a step back, he seemed to have failed miserably at that.

"You've surprised me," Michael said, "I had figured the most you'd do was throw a tantrum or annoy me into giving up with your questions but you dared to put your knowledge to the test."

'That part about me asking questions was unnecessary!'

"But knowledge without experience could be fatal as you've nearly experienced, so I think you'd take your lesson on that." Michael continued taking out his pocket watch, "That'll be all for today, I've accessed your skills and we'll continue with our training from tomorrow onwards, so be here on time!"

"Ethan, follow me to my office!"

Ethan looked at Michael and then back at Luke, "I'm okay."

With Luke assuring him, Ethan nodded and left with Michael.
