Prologue

"Where am I?" Luke mumbled, blinking away the haze clouding his vision. His head throbbed, each pulse accompanied by a surge of panic that threatened to overwhelm him, not to mention the unbearable pressure, suffocating him almost as if he was being choked.

"YOU MOTHERFUCKERS!!!" A blood-curdling scream pierced the air, jolting Luke into consciousness as he groggily tried to make sense of his surroundings, his vision which was barely returning to normal darted around the room trying to find the source of where the sound came from.

"What the fuck is going on..." Luke yelled in panic as he crawled back until his back was completely against the wall.

The sight in front of him was something straight out of a horror movie. Before him, chaos reigned. A woman, her form contorted with agony, floated above her bed, chains rattling against the wooden frame. Three figures, clad in priestly garb, loomed over her, their faces twisted in grim determination.

The eldest of the trio, his weathered face etched with lines of wisdom, held a worn leather-bound book aloft, his voice resonating with power as he yelled out incantations from the book in a language Luke couldn't understand.

Beside him, a younger man who looked to be in his twenties, his glasses askew, kept flinging droplets of what looked to be like water towards the woman who screamed in agony every time the water hit her body, only for them to evaporate in mid-air, leaving behind trails of steam that mingled with her anguished cries.

Meanwhile, the youngest of the three, who looked like a teenager, struggled to wield a wand-like object, his arms trembling with effort waving the stick around as if it weighed a ton.

"What in the exorcism is going on here..." Luke tried to make sense of what was going on, as he shrank back against the wall, his mind struggling to make sense of what was happening in front of him.

The three men despite hearing him paid him no mind, their focus consumed by the battle raging before them. Luke was sure he wasn't going to get any information from them at the moment and it was obvious the devil incarnate floating on the bed wasn't going to explain what was happening either.

'Okay, deep breaths...' Luke forced himself to calm down, though his heart continued to race. 'Last thing I remember, I was on my scooter after a delivery, then...'

"Did I... die?" Luke gulped as he remembered the horrifying scene of him getting hit by the out-of-control truck rampaging straight at him, "Then why am I here...still alive?"

Before he could dwell further on his existential crisis, the 'exorcism' that was going on seemed to be reaching its climax as the yelling and cursing reached an all-time high.

The woman's screams crescendoed, sending shockwaves rippling through the room as the very room itself began shaking violently like an earthquake. Furniture toppled over, ornaments shattered, and the very air crackled with otherworldly energy.

"Jacob, now!" The priest with the glasses yelled at the youngest priest who nodded and began chanting a whole different line of words and then the unbelievable happened.

Black smoke began emerging out of the woman's mouth as the other two priests hurriedly took out their sticks from their robes and began chanting simultaneously at the smoke covering it in almost a white prism of a sort.

The woman fell onto her bed as the priest continuously chanted at the smoke making the prism smaller and smaller until it gave out a blinding light.

Lucas who was breaking down in sweat after what he had witnessed shielded his eyes from the blinding light that followed, Luke dared to peek through his fingers as the chaos subsided, leaving behind an eerie calm.

The violent shaking had completely disappeared and the intense pressure engulfing them was nowhere to be found.

"Shit! That was harder than usual." The youngest priest stretched his arms and back as he looked back at Luke with a grin, "Did you shit your pants lil bro?"

"Lay off the kid," The priest with the glasses smacked the younger priest's head, "At least he isn't puking all over the place like you did."

"Don't tell him that you idiot!"

"What in the hell is going on!!" Luke questioned as the situation he was presented with didn't seem fitting of the buddy comedy that was going on in front of him.

"Welcome to family business, son." The oldest priest replied to his question as he left the room without sparing another word.

"Does he have to be a prick about this?" The younger priest shook his head coming over to Luke and helping him up, "Just try and relax lil bro, we will explain it to you on our way back. Although nightmares are inevitable I can always knock you back to sleep so don't fret."

Luke wasn't sure what was going on with these people who were acting all familiar with him as the questions began piling up one after another but before he could even ask them, the moment he stood up with the help of the priest he realized something else.

"What the fuck..." Luke realized his stature was way smaller compared to everyone in the room as a suspicion arose in his mind as to what was happening so without a second of hesitation he ran towards the mirror in the room.

"Bu-but ho-how.." Looking at his reflection on the broken mirror, Luke mumbled a bunch of words, before he found his conscious fading away.
