QnA with dad pt.1

For most ordinary everyday people, having the talk with their father would entail a long list of cringy stories, followed by the birds and bees talk. Maybe some idea about sex and how using condoms is a must, but in this family, the words seemed to take a whole different meaning.

Luke gathering a bunch of his diaries walked towards his father's office climbing up several sets of stairs.

The house they lived in could be compared to an everyday little hut on the outside, though it was in the middle of nowhere with the front side of the house being covered in a completely dark lush forest where you could hear unsettling noises day in and day out and on the other side was a murky lake as big as a couple of football field.

From what he had heard from Ethan, the entire forest was covered with runes and magical devices that prevented anyone from getting in, the illusion of nothingness as he described it meant that not even experienced and seasoned wizards could get it, let alone, regular people.

But the house on the inside was a whole other story, the moment you walked inside the little hut that looked almost as big as a camping van, you couldn't help but be mesmerized by what was going on inside.

The house stretched into a long corridor with several different rooms on each side, the deeper you went through the corridors the more rooms you discovered, some rooms were open for anyone to go through, for example, the library which was big enough to put even the biggest public library to shame, spanning over what seemed to infinity with collections of books from all over the world and not limited to wizarding subjects.

However, most of the other rooms were either shut by magic or even runes on rooms that gave off extremely ominous feelings. A few of the rooms were creepy to the point where even going near them felt suffocating.

Luckily the house had been divided into three different floors. The lower floors contained the library, those creepy rooms, the potion room, and much more, which Luke hadn't had the chance to explore yet.

The second floor was where he and his brothers lived, unlike the first floor, the rooms and the floor itself were limited to a certain extent. The floor contained six separate rooms, among them, three of the rooms belonged to the three brothers, each room being as big as a luxury apartment. Then came the kitchen and dining room, alongside a room Jacob described as a preparation room.

The preparation room contained several costumes, potions, some artifacts Luke had never seen before, and even weapons ranging from different swords, bows, and arrows, and even guns, and finally, the thing Luke held dear the most, a computer, although the computer ran slower than a turtle with asthma, but it was still something.

Then came the third floor, which he was not allowed to go in. After being here for a week, that was the only floor he hadn't looked around, from the details he had gathered from his brothers, the third floor consisted of just one room. It was hard to call the room an office since his father would never leave the room, so it was a bedroom, a dining room, and an office all mixed into one.

Luke, filled with several ideas on what the room looked like reached the door that closed off the third floor. The door was made out of what seemed to be metal with several runes indented on it from top to bottom.

He let out a little cough, knocking on the door, and without warning the door opened itself immediately. 'Why am I so nervous it feels like I am giving an interview for a job I desperately need..'

Luke walked into the room, where he could see tons of portraits hanging all over the place from the get-go, the room had a similar aesthetic to the whole house, victorian and old. In fact, other than the fact the room was much larger than his own, it felt pretty much the same.

Unlike his room, however, the room just contained a few sets of furniture and not a bed in sight. At the center of the room beneath the dazzling chandelier was a huge desk and behind it was his father on a chair waiting for him smoking from a pipe.

It only took a glimpse for anyone to see, that this man was related to his two brothers with his looks alone. Aside from his older appearance with gray hair and gray beard alongside some wrinkles on his face, he still had the same looks. The same sharp brows, the very same light brown eyes, and the angular face.

For a man in his late 40s, his body build was still muscular and fit, enough to put your average gym goer to shame. Not to mention the intimidating aura around him, his father, Michael Winchester, was definitely a terrifying man to be around.

"I see, you've gotten used to things around here." Michael said with a strict tone waving his fingers as a chair swiftly moved towards Luke, "Take a seat,"

Luke hesitating a bit, hopped on the chair which moved again dragging him right in front of his father's desk. With him on a chair, he finally had the chance to see what was on top of the table which contained nothing more than heaps of documents and papers and a picture frame on the side which was turned away from him.

"I have been hearing from your brothers that you've spent most of your weeks satisfying your curiosity with questions and books." his father spoke again after putting out his smoke, "Which is a thing I commend, so if you have questions about anything you want to know, you can ask me."

"Yea.. I mean..." Luke felt uncomfortable under his father's gaze which seemed to see right through him, "Ahem! So I did quite a bit of research and I am familiar with most things by now but I still have several questions."

"Go ahead!"

Luke dropped his diaries onto the desk and asked his very first question, "So how did you know I could use magic?"

"I guess you don't remember, but your uncle called us three weeks ago about how you destroyed the television set by shattering it across the wall in a moment of excitement and then proceeded to float the entire living room furniture and destroyed it as well, after which you fainted and went on like nothing happened."

'Awakening magic due to watching some show on TV, that's kinda weird, but at least I am one hundred percent sure, I got magic in me now.' Luke massaged his temples as he continued, "So that's how you knew, so why did you leave me there with uncle in the first place?"

That was one of the few questions that had been bugging him about his identity, after all, he wasn't Harry Potter, so living with his relative seemed a bit far-fetched for a wizarding family when they were still alive and doing well.

"I couldn't bother to care for a child."

'What a dick!' Luke was expecting a tragic story or something similar at the least, but what the fuck was that.

"I see..." Luke replied, "Were you hoping I was normal like uncle or-"

"Don't think too much about it. I did what was needed." his dad said without the slightest change in his emotions.

'I see, so that's how you want to play it.'

"I guess, that's about it for my questions about myself." Luke shook his head and with a ting of seriousness proceeded to say, "Then let's get straight into magic."
