Chapter 11: Preparations and Predictions
Ron eagerly showed Harry a newspaper picture of his entire family in Egypt.
Upon seeing the picture, Harry noticed Ron’s pet rat, Scabbers.
“The infamous rat that caused a prison break,” Harry thought.
Ron described Egypt as beautiful, mentioning mummies, pyramids, and his experiences there. Meanwhile, a cat chased after Scabbers, prompting Ron to intervene.
“Hermione, control your pet. If it chases Scabbers again, I’ll turn it into a mug,” Ron warned.
“It’s a cat. Chasing rats is in her nature,” Hermione retorted.
Harry foresaw hours of potential conflict and stepped between them, suggesting they continue the conversation in his room.

Once there, Hermione asked, “What happened at your aunt’s house? What did the Ministry do?”
Harry recounted, “My aunt’s sister, Marjorie Dursley, insulted my dead parents. I got angry, and accidental magic turned her into a balloon that flew away. I ran from there.”
He then explained his journey on the Knight Bus and asked, “How does someone summon a Knight Bus?”
Harry queried Hermione, “Which optional subjects are you studying?”
“I’m taking all of them,” Hermione replied quietly.
Ron exclaimed, “Only Hermione would do that!”
Harry considered Hermione’s workload and the possibility of her having a Time-Turner.
“I’m only taking Care of Magical Creatures and Divination,” Harry said. “The Care of Magical Creatures book is like a monster, so I focus on Divination.”
“I’ve been practicing divination, like predicting your arrival today,” Harry added confidently.
Ron praised, “That’s amazing, mate! You’ve got a knack for Divination.”
Hermione pressed, “Harry, how are you doing this? Are you practising other forms of Divination?”
Harry explained, “I only did it for today’s arrival using coin tossing.”
“Can you predict any issues with our journey to Hogwarts?” Ron asked.
Harry felt he needed to act the part for his Seer potion to be believable.
“I predict there will be a problem,” Harry announced before tossing a coin.
Both Hermione and Ron watched with anticipation.
“This is it. I have to make this work,” Harry thought.
Using a pendulum, Harry asked if there would be danger on their journey.
The pendulum swung counterclockwise at a moderate pace.
“I sense medium danger,” Harry interpreted. “It’s risky, but manageable.”
Hermione grew skeptical, and Ron looked nervous.
“We need to be cautious and support each other,” Hermione insisted.
“Anything can happen,” Harry agreed.
They discussed their holiday activities and how much homework they managed.
After a while, Hermione and Ron retired t
o their rooms.
Harry thought, “I need to prepare for tomorrow.”
