Magic

*First-person POV*

"Well, this is creepy" I exclaimed.

The walls are adorned with talking portraits, and I often catch them whispering to each other when they think no one is listening.

As I walk past one particularly talkative portrait, the figure in the painting suddenly speaks up. "Well, hello there, young man! What brings you to this part of the castle?"

Startled, I stop in my tracks and turn to face the painting. "Oh, um, just on my way to the library," I reply nervously.

The portrait chuckles. "Ah, the library. A fine place for a student to be. Just be sure not to get lost on the way, the staircases can be quite tricky."

"I will keep it in mind," I said with a friendly wave.

As I make my way through the halls of Hogwarts, I suddenly hear the loud clash of metal coming from up ahead. My curiosity piqued, I quicken my pace and turn the corner to see two suits of armor engaged in a fierce battle, swords clashing and sparks flying.

'I better keep going' I thought.

But before I could even take a step forward, one of the suits of armor swung its sword too forcefully and accidentally hit a passing student. The student yelped in pain, clutching their arm as they stumbled backwards.

"Hey, watch it!" the student shouted desperately, glaring at the suits of armor.

The two suits of armor seemed to pause for a moment as if acknowledging the student's words. Then, they resumed their battle, seemingly oblivious to the commotion they had caused, and were again ready to further it with an even wider and deadlier swing. The student who was implicated in this ordeal looks at me with eyes of great plea.

Without even realizing what I'm doing, I raise my wand and point it at the two fighting suits of armor. As my eyes glow purple, I feel a strange surge of energy coursing through me. Without knowing how, and to my surprise, small purple cracks start forming all over their surface.

The armors seem to be struggling to move, as if being held back by an invisible force. With a loud metallic groan, they both come to a sudden stop, their swords frozen mid-swing. I watch in awe as the purple cracks slowly grow and spread, until the armors become completely immobilized.

Breathless and amazed at what I had just done, I lower my wand, not quite sure how I had managed to stop the battle.
