Chapter 37: Nature's call

Chapter 37: Nature's call

The school bell ringed, announcing the break time to all classes. The teacher packed his belongings and exited the classroom, leaving the students alone for ten minutes before the next lesson starts. Enough time for it to happen.

Although many of classmates had their eyes fixed on the new girl, nobody was brave enough to go ahead and ask her, especially the boys who were enchanted by her looks.

Still, there was a group of the more curious students got up from their seats and went to the new classmate table, forming a circle around her. It was formed by four girls using similar clothes with different colors with one of them leading the others.

-Hello, I’m Lindsey, how you are? – Stepping in the front of the others, a chestnut-haired girl introduced herself. But Midna didn’t even turn to the girl and was writing something in her notebook.

It wasn’t a good situation, Chris thought about it. There wasn’t a way for him to interfere without rising suspiciously over their relationship. All that he could do was watch over her and pray nothing happens.

-Are you perhaps from another country? – Feeling a bit rejected by the girl, Lindsey didn’t minded and continue her question.

Finally noticing another person talking to her, Midna turned around in her seat to face her and the other girls with a smile. Chris thought for a moment she would just ignore the girls, but he knew now. It would begin.

-Yeah, I came from overseas. – Midna responded.

-Oh, like in Europe or something? – Happy, Lindsey replied.

Another girl questioned. Midna did a small nod with her head confirm it.

-Yep, around that area.

-Where exactly? Spain? Italy?

-Does it matter? Everything is near there anyway.

With a playful tone in her voice, Midna answered, resulting in a bit of laugh in the circle.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

-But, why did you come here for? – A girl in the back asked.

-Family stuff. Seriously, my folks really know how to pick the worst time.

-Why is that?

-I already had others plans, you know?! – Annoyed, Midna turned to the girl who asked – All my friends and I planned a trip to go together around the biggest cities of each country, but then my parents came in telling me to study abroad!

Seen the figure of Midna pouting, the rest of the girls couldn’t help but to laugh at her reaction.

-Welp, no use in crying over spilt milk. Do you girls know any good place to go in this town? I want to take a tour around it someday.

-Oh yeah. There are many good places to go. For example-

-Say, didn’t that new café open up?

-No way, they already opened?!

-We should totally go there sometime!

-Hey, I was trying to talk here!

Furious, the lead girl yelled towards the other three. Together, they responded without repent in their voices:

-Sorry!

Looking at their guiltless expressions, the lead girl sighed and turned her sight to Midna.

-As I was saying, there was-

But once again, as the girl was talking, the bell ringed and the new teacher would arrive shortly after. The rest of the class were preparing or already prepared their notebooks for it, leaving only the four girls group standing alone in the class.

-Darn it, we talk more about it later. By the way, welcome to the class. - A bit annoyed, the girl turned around and ran to her seat, followed by the other three.

In the classroom, everyone waited in silence as the new teacher arrived. Still with many questions surrounding the new beautiful student of theirs but the answers would have to wait.

As they paid attention to the teacher as she began her lesson, nobody realized the expression of Chris after he witnesses conversation.

(How… How did she sound so normal?!)

He remembered all the times he tried to teach her how to make a proper conversation. After all those failed attempts to make an interaction that was good enough that people wouldn’t suspect a thing, it was a huge shock to see the girl doing all of that on her own, especially when it comes to other people besides him.

A part of him felt relief as he watched how the girl handles the situation, but there was a feeling inside of him that ruined the taste of satisfaction.

(But if she could do that, why didn’t she just tell me then?)

Every time he called her to the training, she never, even once, told him she already knew about it. That time with his friends he thought it was just a lucky shot that she managed to be “normal” for a couple of minutes, even more after he told her what she should say and such.

If... Only if, she already knew how to interact with others, why not just tell him that?

Also, why is it that she is in his class? Rather, how could she be here, list as his classmate? She doesn’t have a way of paying for the tuitions or a place to fill up the address.

Unless…

(I gotta make a phone call)

Standing up from the seat, the boy stole the attention of the class and declares:

-Teacher, may I please go to the bathroom?
