The location is the Blueseva Estate in Carcera, the time is approximately one week after Mada Ashenwald’s death. Normally, Ayrillian people after their death will have their bodies purified using salt and water and will then be buried under the earth as a kind of ritual to see them off to the afterlife. In Gaia, it is common knowledge that those that depart from the world of the living have their body and soul returned to nature.
The body will become the fertile soil of the ground, giving back the life-force it has siphoned over the years. Thus our body shall become the foothold for our descendants’ to step on.
The soul, that was given to us by the sacrifice of Gaia will return back to the spirits of this world. Thus our world shall always prosper in life.
These were once the words of the humanitarian sage, Rakdal. The interpretation in Ayrilia was burial of the corpse under the earth while other countries such as for example Estica would incinerate the carcass and spread the Ashes on top of their ungrown fields.
In this case the body of Mada was cremated and the remains were gifted to his son Imogyeran to dispose of however he chooses.
For the higher-ups in the house this matter would have been settled by then but they seemed to have failed in delivering the necessary mental support to the child that had lost his parents and was now alone in this world.
Ever since a few days ago, his behavior has taken a turn for the worse. The previous boy might have not smiled. He might have had a downwards-cast gaze for his entire life and he might have been covered with wounds all over his body. But regardless of all that, the boy still possessed a heart.

The two maids were still chatting between each other. They are named
Beatrice Raisin and Agave Layerstone. Agave has been told about the recent news and is shocked. She was one of the maids that had taken a special liking towards the young boy. She had also been the one to, when his father wasn’t looking, sneak the boy some sweets she brought with her. Agave could still remember the tensionless face of the boy, whenever he got to eat a crème parfait, his favorite snack. He might not have smiled but she felt a deep happiness from him whenever this happened.

Esteban Blueseva, father of Elliot Blueseva, the former family head of the Blueseva-family and a military strategist during war times. He remains an important asset to the family to this day and his current role in the family is that of a retired fencing instructor for the next generation.
This man has been a leading figure for the development of humanitarian values in the Blueseva-family before the military situation changed the family’s way of conduct.
He represents a stern and antiquated behavior as well as honorary values in the next generation, both in conduct and in attire.
For such a person to be talking about taking in a slave as a member of the main family was
incredible to say the least.
Agave was aghast, captured in a torrent of confusion. Only one emotion was seeping through the turbulences: happiness for the child:

The reaction was a loud exclamation from Agave. She quickly realized her mistake and was trying to calm herself down but the damage had already been done.

They were caught. And by no other than the person in question, Esteban Blueseva.
Esteban Blueseva was wearing his usual blue jacket with black embroidery as well as two silver bracelets on his arms. On the lower part of his jacket that was adjacent to his pants, one could make out three badges attached to it.
Those badges represent badges of honor and are handed out to those people, who contribute majorly to their country Estica.
He wore a pair of Chino pants down his waist, that gave assisted in his straight and military attire.
His white hair was neatly combed back and his clear blue eyes exuded an air of authority that made the two maids hearts race from fright.
The maids frantically apologized for the disturbance and tried to go back to work but Esteban would not let go of the conversation that easily.

Both of them were profusely sweating from the stress and worried about the repercussions of their mistake but Esteban Blueseva wasn’t the kind of man to stir up trouble over something minor like this.
He originally intended to just leave it at some stern words and then go his own way again but his ears perked up at the words of Agave and the curiosity got the better of him.
<
His sentences were short and precise, strictly conveying what he wanted to be conveyed.
The response was an even more hectic answer from the one that had originally brought up the word ‘commotion’.

He looked at her and she flinched at his gaze, unable to interpret its meaning.

Agave flinched at his demand. After taking a moment to think she answered.

He was honestly surprised by this sudden emotional outburst but at the very least he didn’t dislike her honesty.

After realizing her mistake, Agave quickly shut her mouth. Not only had she informally addressed the esteemed former head of the family like that, she also just openly complained about the boy not doing the work properly, that he has been assigned to. This kind of accusation could have severe repercussions for the boy, which she absolutely didn’t want.

This statement diffused the situation considerably. After repeated apologies and some other formalities the two maids bid the master of the house farewell and ushered to do their remaining tasks.
Esteban on the other hand simply stood still while looking at the roof and thinking.
Due to his background as a military instructor, Esteban would often check the condition of the soldiers after training them to measure their physical and mental stability.
After a deployment into conflict areas, some soldiers would occasionally lose the light in their eyes during training. They would still execute the commands they were given but every movement the soldiers did would feel sluggish and restrained, almost as if they were dolls controlled by a puppeteer.
This illness has different names in different regions but it is most commonly referred to as “Mind-Depravation”.
For a young child to have such a severe condition was too much for the old man’s heart to handle. He didn’t explicitly express it himself but he had really grown to like the child over the years. When his father wasn’t looking, there were often times, where he would supervise the boy and act as a mentor to him.
“… Would it not be fine to give him his deserved freedom?”
