Chapter 1: End of the beginning

Author's Note: This will be an AU pokemon world with a mix of games/anime/manga , I also plan to sprinkle in a bit of just random new stuff and maybe even some stuff from popular rom hacks which I again do not own. Don't know which I'll post first but I have 3 fics that I want to tie together which is a bit ambitious but we'll I am a totally amateur writer doing this just for fun when im bored so constructive criticism is welcome.

=====================================================================================================================================

As I looked over the land in front of me it was hard to imagine it as one of the most bustling cities of the Pokémon world. Once upon a time this city was known as Saffron city, the golden light of the Kanto region, a place where people and Pokémon lived nice and comfortable lives , but like all other cities this changed once the meteor hit. I wasn't born yet when the meteor impacted and have only heard stories of that terrible day when the world ended. My father told me he had been exploring the Tree of Beginning after completing the Kanto gym circuit when it happened. Coming from the town of Rota my father started his journey with a Houndour gifted to him by his father Blaine, a fire gym leader from Kanto. To celebrate the end of his first Pokémon journey my grandfather took him to see the Tree of Beginning, which was home to a variety of rare and mythical Pokémon.

The journey was a dangerous one which many people did not dare try due to the presence of the elemental titan's presence as guard dogs for the tree, as well as the tree's own security system. A year prior to their adventure a famous Pokémon explorer had made the trip to the tree and tried to obtain samples inside of it which led to the tree activating a sort of defense system killing all those who went on the mission. The explorer had been recording when it happened and the recordings went public, going viral on the Pokenet. Since then the citizens of Rota and the world knew to treat the tree with respect and would make sure to not harm their surroundings while venturing within. Regardless, the only reason my father and grandfather could attempt such a venture was due to my grandfather's status. My grandfather was no slouch as the 7th gym leader; his team was plenty strong, especially considering he wouldn't use his main team for gym battles. My father however went a different route and became a dark type specialist. With his skills as well as my fathers own they were confident in their abilities to protect themselves if one of the golems appeared.

The journey was made on foot so that they could have a little father and son bonding time with my grandmother being left at home in Rota. After almost a week of travel they had almost reached the base of the gigantic rock formation when suddenly both my father and grandfather's Pokegears sounded an alarm.

RED ALERT ALL CITIZENS WORLD WIDE HEAD TO SHELTER UNDERGROUND METEOR STRIKE OF CATACLYSMIC PROPORTIONS IMPACTING IN 10 MINUTES.

Immediately realizing the gravity of the situation my grandfather released his fastest Pokémon Rapidash and grabbed my father running into the tree of life. It was no sooner than they made it safely into the tree of life when ground and rock type Pokémon living there began to seal all entrances to the tree of life seemingly also sensing the danger of what was to come. Deciding to help my grandfather released three more of his Pokémon Coalossal and Camerupt to help the Pokémon seal the entrances while he and his Delphox teleported back to Rota to retrieve grandmother. My father did not stand idly by either and had his Krokodile and Tyranitar help to seal entrances also released his Malamar to teleport to Rota and teleport back with as many people as he could. While this was all happening an even more surprising development happened with legendary Pokémon just teleporting into the tree of beginning looking around my father said he saw the infamous Mewtwo teleport in with its colony of clone Pokémon, The lake guardians teleported in accompanied by Regigigas and Crescelia, Lugia teleported in with the elemental birds, Celebi teleported in with the elemental dogs while another shiny Celebi teleported with a troupe of Zarude ,Victini and Meloetta with a Volcorona and finally Galarian Articuno managed to teleport the Galarian birds. After being teleported the remaining psychic type Pokémon looked at each other and left again leaving my father to wonder where they were going as there were only 5 minutes left. As the legends left my grandfather finally arrived with grandmother and Malamar came back with a group of small children. With 2 minutes to spare the legendaries teleported back in with humans and judging by how they recognized a few it was the people from Rota.

Finally the countdown ended and immediately everything started violently shaking, knocking everyone over and causing stalactites to fall from the cavern. The shaking however was quickly stabilized by the 3 lake guardians, Galarian Articuno, Lugia, Celebi, Victini, Meloetta and the mews using psychic to hold the tree of life together. Almost immediately after the air was heated up causing people and the other Pokémon to start overheating as the air temperature spiked above a hundred degrees. This however was fixed by the ice legendaries present who used icy wind to cool the inside of the tree as well by the water legendaries using rain dance to cool down the inside. In a few minutes the rumbling and heat subsided. However the trouble was not over with periodic rumbling still happening due to fragments of burning rocks falling from the sky.

Later they found that the Hoenn region was the center of the meteors collision with a quarter of the region being instantly vaporized by the impact , the rest of the region was then swept up by the subsequent tsunamis and earthquake leaving the Hoenn region all but void of life. The rest of the world did not fare much better with coastal regions being flooded worldwide and fires burning most of the forests of the world where there were no Pokémon capable of using rain dance or water type moves. The volcanoes in each region such as Stark mountain, Mount chimney , and Cinnabar island all violently erupted from the earth quakes leaving lava fields in their place to this day. Any Pokémon that did end up surviving all these calamities were soon faced with a new problem: starvation. As the world descended into cold and darkness killing off all plant life leaving Pokémon with no food to eat disrupting the food chain. This left almost no land Pokémon being able to survive with water Pokémon faring a bit better but being decimated nonetheless.

This too was a problem at the tree of life but with the help of the fire legendaries as well as my grandfather's team plus other local trainers, fire types and wild ones they were able to come up with a solution. See the tree of life was sort of a living organism that used photosynthesis to keep everything living inside. This presented a problem since all sunlight was being blocked from debris in the atmosphere causing the tree of life to slowly die. So to keep the tree alive all the Pokémon would use Sunny Day to feed the tree of life. The main contributor was a Volcarona who would light up the sky for hours at a time alone living up to its Pokedex entry. This continued for 12 years until the sun finally came back out and the temperature finally started to go back up outside leading to people starting to go out and explore the surroundings. The palace and town were utterly decimated with barely any building surviving the earthquakes and meteor showers.

During this decade my father had settled down with another gym leader's daughter who had survived the meteor, Janine Koga's daughter. Sadly I never met my mother as there were complications in childbirth and with hospitals being decimated by the meteor she died during birth. The only reason I had survived was with a Wigglytuff who used a heal pulse on me . And that's where I came in ,see instead of just some random baby being born instead I was what was known as a reincarnator, someone who died and got reborn. Thing is, I had no idea what the hell happened. From what I could tell I was in some alternate universe where instead of the meteor being destroyed by Mega Rayquaza it was instead tossed into this universe by the link cable.

Growing up again was boring and I did not see my new father much as he would be off looking for more remnants of surviving humans and rebuilding society so I was instead raised by my grandparents with Blaine and all his riddles and Koga with his demon-like shinobi training. As it turned out most Pokémon league gyms had bunkers underneath them and due to this some people had actually survived the cataclysm. It was a very small number however with most of the bunkers being compromised due to the severity of the natural disasters that rocked the world. Among the people found however no gym leaders from Hoenn survived; it seemed that all the 13 pillars died in the explosion trying to break the meteor before it hit the ground. There were some gym leaders who elected to stay in their region but most decided to settle around Rota due to the safety it already had.

On my 5th year of reincarnation my father found some remnants of society in Alola hidden in an underground bunker. These people were researchers before the fall for an organization called Aether and told my father that the meteor that landed that day was no freak accident. The researchers in Alola had been studying events known as Ultra Wormholes in which our world would be linked to another in the form of these wormholes. They reported on the day of the meteor their systems detected a large wormhole opening up in space which let the meteor in meaning that it was likely that the wormhole was no accident. This news enraged everyone and soon what was left of humanity united together in the name of justice and vengeance. To complete this goal the researchers frantically researched a way to open a wormhole to that universe specifically while the remaining elite trainers went on to summon and capture Palkia and Dialga.

It was decided that the eventual goal of taking revenge would go onto the younger generation and thus everyone under the age of 10 was groomed to be the most powerful Pokemon trainers they could be. There were those who felt such a thing was unnecessary but the issue was not forced and volunteers were welcome.

And that's where I came in, with my family being some of the essential pillars of the newly established world government , I was pushed thrice as hard as anyone else. I didn't really mind it however as being in the Pokémon world had always been a childish dream of mine just not like this. Instead of the happy world of Pokémon, this world was a grim place filled with hard and serious people. It was nothing like the world I had grown up watching which is why I was determined to restore this world by stopping that meteor.

By the time I had turned 15 I was by far the strongest of the younger generation and my team could even give the leaders' teams a run for their money. With leagues not being a thing there was no carry limit and thus I had a 9 Pokémon with me at all times . I would have had more but all the Pokémon I was really interested in were almost impossible to find as a lot of Pokémon went extinct due to the meteor, most that survived were trainer Pokémon.

A few months after I turned 15 the Alolan researchers finally made a breakthrough and were able to track which dimension the meteor came from and with the help of the legendary Pokémon theorized it was possible to open a portal to said universe. Problem was it could only be done once and only one person could go through it.

A tournament was held amongst the younger generation and in the end me and my team came out on top. Which brings me to now standing upon the ruins of Golden Rod collecting some random piece of technology from the old radio tower which would complete the preparations to send me to the other world.

I released Drax, one of my first Pokémon to take me back to our base by the Tree of Beginning.

"Charizard '' he yelled upon release raising his head yelling at the sky.

I let out a chuckle at his antics , teleporting with Virus would have taken much less time but I wanted to enjoy the ride and gather my thoughts. I took a moment to take in his form instead of a regular Charizard , Drax was a clone Pokémon from the colony brought by Mewtwo. It had been a bitch to allow Mewtwo to let me capture him . Mewtwo and the clone Pokémon settled in a small part of the tree away from the humans but I would go visit from time to time. And eventually instead of just being teleporting away into the lake he allowed me to actually interact with the small unevolved Pokémon. Eventually I came with a Pokeball to try and capture the Charmander I befriended and that was when I had my first interaction with Mewtwo.

As I approached Charmander a tall bipedal purple figure teleported in front of me "While I stopped teleporting you away, what makes you think I would let you take one of my fellow clones? '' questioned Mewtwo.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

"Read my mind and you'll see I'm the best chance this world has. None of this was supposed to happen which is why I'll go back and fix this for everyone". I said turning my head to stare up into his eyes to let him know I was unafraid.

The Mewtwos eyes glowed as for a solid minute before he finally broke the silence"I can see that you have the same ambition as your grandfather, as my creator he has my respect which is why I will allow you to take the Charmander as he seems to like you, may he serve you well" he said teleporting away.

I was pulled from my thoughts when Charizard's muzzle touched my head. "I know buddy we are so close once we get back with this part we'll finally be able to fix what happened to this world. I hopped on his back and spoke down to my Poketch "Cyber send a message to my father that I've retrieved the piece and am on my way back". My watch switched to the sketchpad and read Confirmed as my Porygon-Z relayed the message.

I got back from my mission and was greeted by my father and Lusamine who thanked me and rushed off to the research lab.

"You're late,'' stated my father gruffly when Lusamine ran off. Looking over to him his face was the same steely look that always rested on his face, a permanent resting bitch face.

I recalled Drax and looked over at my dad. "Sorry, I said I got caught up looking at the ruins of the city".

My dad's look softened for a moment but was quickly replaced by a steely look "I hope it served as a reminder of what you're fighting for your mission is to stop that from happening".

"Yes sir", I replied, giving a little salute as I walked off heading to the training center to blow off some steam and get my work out for the day in.

The theory was that if i could go back in time and cross the dimensions i could stop the meteor from coming which would either lead to a new timeline where it never happened separate from our own or overwrite our own. Regardless everyone agreed it was a price they were willing to make to save all the lives that were lost. It was also a one way trip as whoever went would have no way to get back which was fine by me since this world sucked. I also didn't really have many friends in this world as knowing I was going to leave meant I closed myself off and only really spoke to my grandparents and father and a few of the other important people's children.

When I got to the training facility I trained with my Pokémon using the gravity chamber I had helped come up with. Using my anime inspired knowledge I came up with an idea for a training area which would have increased gravity forced upon it by Pokémon using the move Gravity. This would lead to the Pokémon being trained within being stronger and faster getting used to training under higher gravity environments. This however took a toll on the Pokémon and trainers bodies leading to muscle fibers tearing so to circumvent this I had a simple solution: Comfey. See the Comfey line would set up Grassy Terrain on the field and lay down a continuous floral healing which would lead to the strain and fatigue being refreshed. It took a while for this plan to come into fruition though as Comfey like most Pokémon went all but extinct save for those who were with their trainers prior to the fall which happened to be 2 trainers from the Aether Foundation. As such most Pokémon were put in breeding programs to boost their numbers which is where all of my Pokémon came from save for Song, Puffy and Drax who were Pokémon who lived within the Tree of life. Really the only reason I had most of the members of my team was due to my father and grandfather's status in the world government and they would practically give me any Pokémon I asked for.

Speaking of anime-esque Pokémon, some of the game rules didn't apply in the real world so things such as conditions not stacking and Pokémon learning moves they didnt in game but made sense when you think about it. An example of this is Pidgey not learning Peck like it's a bird, how can it not learn it in game. Pokémon were also able to use more than 4 moves which makes sense like how would you forget how to Ember if you learn Flamethrower they were basically the same moves. The only problem was if they hadn't used the move in a while it would get rusty and not do as much damage or be used slower.

I was pulled from my musings by the sound of the training area's door sliding open. Turning my head I saw the familiar graying hair of my Grandpa Koga as well as my father, Grandpa Blaine, and lastly Uncle Lance. With the world being brought to impending doom the indigo elite 4 had been safe in their bunker which had just enough food to survive until the conditions outside were favorable.

"Ah Jon my boy it is good to see you working so diligently" said Koga walking over and giving me a strong pat on the back.

"Of course, I have to be prepared to protect myself against anything when I cross over" I said, still dumbbell in hand.

He let out a small laugh "If anything they would have to protect themselves from you , Well my grandson we came here to see just how well you can protect yourself.

He ceased his laughter as a small grin formed on his face while his hands reached down to his belt palming one of his Pokeballs . "Let us go outside this training area couldn't handle a battle between our Pokémon".

I put the dumbbell down as a similar grin made its way onto my face as well 'No better way to end my time here' I thought to myself. I wiped my sweat with a towel as I followed them outside to the makeshift battle area where a small crowd was already gathered to watch the fight.

"This will be a 6 on 6 battle" my grandpa said throwing the ball hand to hand.

"Are we using battle items,'' I asked, hands tracing my bandolier as I weighed my options of who to send out first.

.

"Of course I want to see you at your full power anything less would bring dishonor".he said

"Sounds good to me. Let's get this show on the road", I said, palming a green Pokeball with 2 spikes from my bandolier.

My father stood to the side as a referee "3 2 1 battle begin".

"Come on out Gaea" , "Slice front and center". Out came my Torterra Gaea who was easily one of the strongest and tankiest members of my team. She was also the most versatile due to some modifications I made to her. See these weren't just little video game creatures they were living breathing organisms which meant some degree of science could be applied to them. On earth there was a cool exhibit I got to see once called the tree of 40 fruit which was as its name says a tree that could bear 40 different types of fruit. Botanists were able to do this through the process of grafting which is just basically sewing a tree branch from another tree onto a different one and tricking the tree into thinking it's a part of itself. Through grafting I was able to turn the tree on Torterra's back into a tree that grows different types of berries. This means he was able to use the move Natural Gift to use berries that would be super effective on his opponent as well as eat the trees from his back with a grass knot to get more strength or even recover.

My strategy with Gaea was the good old stall and heal. With my knowledge and a little bit of tutoring from Gardenia who survived in Sinnoh Gaea turned into an absolute unit.

"Slice rush him and use X Scissor" Shouted my grandpa starting the battle off.

"Gaea use Ingrain tangle him". As Toxicroak rushed toward Gaea a multitude of roots extended from her back into the ground, some staying in the ground and others emerging from the ground wrapping up Toxicroak's body. "Gaea Sunny Day and Leech Seed".

As Gaea began to set up my grandfather called out "Slice use poison jab , break free from the binds". Within a few seconds Toxicroak broke free but it was too late one of the roots had already implanted the Leech Seed and began siphoning energy. The battle was already practically won.

"Slice get in close and X Scissor".

"Gaea Natural Gift Starf volley".

Immediately some of the berries on Torterra's back disintegrated as purple energy balls began to be spit out of her mouth at high speeds. To my grandfather's credit Slice dodged all of the volley expertly until Gaea summoned a Grass Knot catching it by surprise making it stumble just enough to get hit by one of the attacks. The damage was visible but barely phased the Toxicroak as it closed the remaining distance up to Gaea and laid down a barrage of X Scissors.

"Catch it,'' I commanded. Between the barrages Torterra managed to bite down on one of his arms. DRAIN him I said. With that Gaea's leaves lit up and began draining Toxicroak. To his credit Slice kept up the barrages using Brick Break one handed but with Ingrain+Giga Drain+Leech Seed in Sunny Day the damage he was doing was healed nearly instantly.

"Throw him and Spit Up" I said. See unlike the games Pokémon here were able to use multiple moves at the same time if they had proficient enough mastery over them. As such knowing moves could be used discretely I would always have Gaea always constantly using stockpile when not engaged in battle. Heeding my orders Torterra whipped its head sending Toxicroak back as it shot a white ball at it in the same moment. The force of the spit up coupled with the damage from the drains knocked it out of the fight.

"Send out your next Pokémon gramps" I said with a smirk.

"STOP". commanded a voice from the side. Looking over it was my father. "That is enough you leave on your mission tomorrow there is no reason to engage in an all out battle where you may get hurt".

I let out a small sigh but knew he was right "Gaea return" i said recalling her back. Walking over to my grandpa who had already recalled Slice I was hit with a soft smack to the back of the head. "I might be old but I saw that smirk at the end boy , no respect for your elders" he grumbled. I laughed and bid them farewell packing my stuff to head home.

After that last training session I would have in this world I showered in the locker room and then went toward the small house I had been given a little ways from the facility. As I reached for the door knob I noticed the door was slightly ajar. Thinking it may be an intruder I unsheathed my tanto and released Boo.

Bursting through the door into a dark room tanto at the ready and with Boo by my side I was blinded when the light suddenly turned on and a multitude of voices yelled "Surprise!". I let out an awkward chuckle as I sheathed my tanto.

"Ha good instincts my boy" said Grandpa Blaine, slapping me on the back. "You old coot was that battle with Grandpa Koga just a distraction to set this up?" I questioned.

"Heh it sure was, your dad wanted to just delay your mission but we figured that it would be more enjoyable to go out with a bang"he said with a toothy smile.

Looking around I saw practically everyone I had ever known in my house. "So who's idea was all this" I said, hanging my bag on the rack by the door.

"That would be me,'' said a voice behind me. Turning around I came face to face with Dahlia who threw her arms around me in a tight hug.

I let out a small sigh "Of course only you'd do something so troublesome" I said.

She let out a giggle "Oh come on you know you like it" she said. Dahlia was my childhood friend but in the last few years we had become a little more being more friends with benefits than just regular friends. Dahlia, like me, was basically royalty in the new world as she was the daughter of Lance and Clair. She gave me a peck on the cheek and with that I went on to speak to everyone else at the party.

Basically all of the former gym leaders and their children were in attendance. I of course already knew most of them as they had all been in the same training program with me but I wasn't close to many save a few.

"Finally the man of the hour" said a booming voice picking me up from behind in a bear hug.

"Ugh put me down Blake" I said as the breath was squeezed out by the force of the hug. Blake was probably my closest friend and was the son of Bruno and Korinna.

"Heh now that you're here we can finally start the Beer pong" he said throwing a small pokeball colored ping pong ball my way. A smile found its way onto my face as I caught it with that the night quickly devolved into debauchery and drinking with even the older people joining in. It was times like these that reminded me this world wasn't so bad.

The next day I woke up to find Dahlia sleeping next to me in my bed. Poking her cheeks a bit she finally stirred as her blue eyes gazed at me. "Good morning sleeping beauty,'' I said, leaning down and giving her a peck on the forehead.

She smiled but her grin was quickly replaced by a look of sadness. "Hey why the long face" I said, poking her in the cheek again.

"Todays the day you leave, who knows if I'll ever see you again" she said, tears beginning to rapidly form in her eyes.

"Hey hey look at me i'll be back if they can open a wormhole big enough for that giant meteor I'm sure they can open another one for little old me" I said wiping the tears from her cheek.

"You pinky promise?"she said, raising her hand up at me.

"Yes I pinky promise" I said, crossing my pinky with hers with that she pulled me in for a passionate kiss and one thing led to another leading to more vigorous activities before we both showered and made our way to the facility.

I kissed Dahlia goodbye as I was led by some lab assistants to a briefing room. There I was given a bag by the lab assistants containing some evolution stones, fossils and other valuables I could sell for pre meteor money as well as equipment such as Pokeballs, potions, a sleeping bag, and tent. As for my own belongings all I really took was some mementos such as shirts and some custom pokeballs I had painted. The science of how all of that fit into the bag was beyond me; they just explained it away as the same tech as Pokeballs. I thanked them and strapped the bag on as I watched them start to fire up the machine.

To pull this off 3 Pokémon were essentially Palkia, Dialga, and Victini. Essentially the way it worked is using the radiation signature of the wormhole opened up years ago the machine would harness the power of Dialga and Palkia to rip a hole in space and time into that universe. The Victini would help by powering up the legendaries to make it all possible. Admittedly it was the 3rd best option as they had wanted to use the powers of the Alolan legendaries to open the portal or even the infamous Hoopa but neither were able to be recovered with records of their locations being lost. Before the machine finished starting up the doors opened to reveal everyone from the party before here to see me off. I gave everyone a short goodbye and a hug trying my best not to cry.

With a magnificent blast of power the portal was opened and as I prepared to step through and save the world but I was stopped by a hand on my shoulder. Turning around, I was faced by my father with the softest look I had ever seen on his face "I just want you to know son , I am proud of the man you've become and had she lived I am sure your mom would've been as well. Now go on, fulfill your destiny and prevent this tragedy from happening."

A single tear found its way from my eye as I looked up at him and replied "Yes dad I will for everyone". And with that I stepped through the portal.
