Chapter 5

The next day I woke up and used the Pokemon Centers Pc to chart my next moves. The next badge I'd have to challenge would be the Dewford city gym for the Knuckle badge. Problem with that is Dewford was in butt fuck egypt on an island off the coast of Hoenn meaning i'd have to hire a teleporting service which was a no go since I was still penny pinching or book a ferry, I elected to go with the ferry only problem being the only ferry going to Dewford leaves from Petalburg so id have to make my way down there.

Getting up from the computers I made my way to the hall and released my pokemon to eat. While we were munching Puffy got up and walked over to a board with some posters and came back with one in her hand yelling excitedly. "Jiggly jiggly," she said, depositing the poster in front of me. Taking a look at it it was a poster with a coordinator and a Beautifly encouraging people to join in on the Rustboro pokemon contest. I was going to say no since it didn't further our goals at all but looking at her sparkling eyes I admitted defeat. If it makes her happy she could enter besides most contests happening on the gym circuit anyway so we wouldn't lose too much time.

After breakfast I took a walk down to the contest hall to try and get a contest pass. After waiting a few minutes in a line it was finally our turn to go to the counter. "Hello how may i help you young man?" said the receptionist

"Hello ma'am I'd like to register for a contest pass and for the contest happening tomorrow if possible" I said, sliding my trainer id over to her.

"Let me check one moment please," she said typing some stuff onto her computer before looking abc up at me. "Unfortunately the contest for tomorrow is fully booked but I can get you a contest pass for the future".

I looked down as puffy visibly deflated next to me "Next time you'll be able to compete, don't worry about it" I said, filling out the paperwork. Puffy was still down in the dumps when we left the office but she became happier once I got her a cotton candy from a random street vendor. Since it was still very early, only 11 I decided to head out on my journey to Rinshin town after a quick stop at the pokemart for some more supplies.

Getting on the road I had everyone who wanted to walk with me out of their pokeballs. Most of my pokemon though were lazy bums so the only ones who joined me were Puffy,Drax, and Song. The rest of the slackers decided to stay in their pokeballs napping. The nearest place was a settlement called Rinshin town which was only 30 miles away from Rustboro. At the pace we were going and accounting for rest we'd probably reach there by midnight barring anything happening.

As fate would have it something did end up happening and a random couple stopped me along the road about 4 hours into my walk and asked if I would humor them in a 2v2 pokemon battle I obliged seeing as i was quite bored of just listening to music on the road. I released my 2 Pokemon Song and Cyber. While the couple released a Zigzagoon and Marill.

"Marill use water gun , Zigzagoon quick attack". "Song to the air , Cyber use Skull Bash counter". The Marill focused on Song trying and failing to hit her with a barrage of water guns. The Zigzaggon dashed quickly toward Cyber glowing white to try and tackle him with the quick attack energy but Cyber angled his glowing forehead to meet him head on. In terms of power however Zigzagoon was sorely lacking and was blown back by the attack.

"Marril protect Zigzagoon with water gun" yelled the girl. The water gun caught Cyber by surprise but did little damage. "Song aerial ace '' I said, capitalizing on the Marill being distracted. Song dove slamming into Marill from the side, sending it into the recovering Zigzagoon in a heap.

"Cyber end the battle with thunderbolt" I said. Without any time to counter a large bolt of lightning shot out of cyber knocking the couples pokemon out.

"Wow what a great battle isn't that right honey". "Yes my little giblet you did amazing you're so strong" they said embracing each other after the battle.

I cringed at their antics and thanked the couple for the battle continuing down the road for a couple more hours with various of my pokemon coming out to walk with me for a while. Eventually though i set up camp before night fall and set up camp to begin making some food for everyone. While i didnt know how to make pokeblock, I was adept at making curry so I got to work making several different kinds of curry for everyone using all the ingredients frozen in stasis in my bag. I myself had a sausage curry. While i was preparing food for everyone i saw that from the bushes there were some eyes watching.

Small growls permeated the empty space as 5 Poochyena made their way into the clearing with violence in their eyes. Now see I'm a nice guy if they had come and begged I would have been fine giving them some food but the fact that they wanted to take it by force made me upset. My feelings were shared by the rest of the squad as Reptar and Drax immediately let out tiny roars and launched into battle. "Try not to hurt them too badly or start a forest fire," I called. A quick 5 minutes later the food was ready and the Poochyena were all knocked out in a pile. I had Gaea lay down a Grassy Terrain to heal them as Drax and Reptar were a bit too forceful with their discipline. With food over for the night me and the team had some discussions about some training we had to do and then set up the tent to sleep.

The next day we got to walking early and hit Rinshin town before noon. The town didn't have anything I wanted to check out so I booked a ferry for the afternoon down to Dewford town. The distance was annoying as it would take us a whole day of travel by boat to get there. It was fine with me but I just prayed the waves weren't too rough or I'd get sea sick.

After purchasing the ticket I went to the pokemart and bought some more pokeblock for my pokemon as i didnt know how to make it myself. I also had a battle with a random guy at the park who challenged me with a Zigzagoon. I used Galvan as he didn't have a battle lately and he of course demolished him.

Fast forwarding we got on the boat and me and my team enjoyed the sea breeze. I even took out Deoxys crystal so he could quote on quote see the ocean as well. A random girl sat next to me with a Skitty and we exchanged pleasantries talking about random things with her saying she was going to visit her grandfather in dewford and me saying i was going for my badge.

The trip continued and I went down to sleep in my cabin for the night and drifted off into sleep. My shut eye was cut short though when I was suddenly awakened by a random alarm going off.

"Passengers stay in your rooms. A gyarados is engaging the ship's captain; this is not a drill".

I of course went up to the top of the deck instead and saw a Rather large Pelipper was engaging a gyarados in battle but while they looked evenly matched it was only a matter of time until the gyarados won . I got up to the top deck just in time to see the gyrados charge a hyper beam which hit the Pelipper and slammed a hole into the hull of the ship.

"Mayday mayday we are taking on water", screamed the ships captain over the intercom .

I threw Deoxys' stone out into the water watching as he formed around it. "Get rid of that gyarados and teleport us closer to the island stealthily," I commanded him over the psychic link. With that Deoxys used Psychic and tossed the struggling gyarados into the distance with the captain looking in astonishment. Afterward the ship appeared on the shore of the mainland and Deoxys transformed back into a stone floating back over to me. The captain didn't know what happened but announced that Kyogre must have been smiling down upon us as we somehow appeared 3 hours away on the shore of dewford. He also said it would take a week of repairs to fix as we all headed out.

Before I could leave towards the pokemon center a hand grabbed me and I turned around coming face to face with the girl I had been chatting with on the ferry.

"Thank you", she said.

"Uh you're welcome but thank you for what?" I said puzzled.

"I don't know what you did but I saw you throw that stone in the water and then we were safe so thank you".

"Just forget you saw that that's all the thanks i need" I said excusing myself and heading toward the pokemon center. I booked a room at the center and took a short nap with everyone waking up at 1 pm. I decided to have a lil beach training day. As part of the workout I had everyone out as we ran along the beach together in 2x gravity as that's all I could really bear while running.

I came upon a cove where I saw a bunch of people hanging out including a guy with blue hair who I suspected to be brawly. He was chatting it up with a bunch of bikini girls'. What was most interesting though was he had his arms around one who was not Roxanne but it wasn't cheating as of yet. As i got near though i saw him go over and kiss the girl which officially labeled him a cheater and therefore a scumbag in my book. I jogged by them and saw his eyes flicker with intrigue as he looked over my pokemon but then quickly went back to entertaining the girls.

Yep he's on my shit list gotta get some dirt on him to report to roxanne. I finished my run and then decided to go register for a gym battle even though he wasn't there as I still had a couple trainers to beat anyway. Walking in I saw a cute girl manning the front desk which was to be expected. "Hello, I'd like to fight the gym trainers please" I said , giving her a smile and passing her my league Id.

"Uh that is fine but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to fight brawly," she said he's busy at the moment.

"Yeah I'm sure he's really busy. I saw him at the beach with some girls," I said scoffing.

"Oh really, how interesting," she said. Her face morphed into a scowl and her response had a bit of a harsher tone so she was probably sleeping with him too. "Whatever follow me, 3 of the gym trainers are here and that's all we need", she said.

I let her get a bit in front of me before following "Cyber find me anything interesting" I whispered, tapping my xtransceiver against the computer and letting him enter. Getting to the arena I saw 3 people doing various exercises around the gym before stopping to face us.

"We got a gym challenger and since you guys are the ones here today it's up to you guys to fight him" she announced.

"You go first Laura" said one of the guys. "I'm sure your Meditite can tackle his pokemon into submission," he laughed with the other guy. The girl Laura was around my age with tanned skin and blue hair might be related to brawly but who knows. The comment seemed to have made her mad but she didn't speak back instead stepping up to the arena to face me.

"This will be a 1v1 match," announced the ref.

"Meditite your up/ Go song". The Meditite appeared on the opposite side of the field sitting in a meditative position and while I didn't know much about the species it looked pretty small in all honesty. "Meditite use confusion" said the girl and without orders Song took to the sky and dodged the psychic waves.

"Song use moonblast" I said

"Meditite dodge it!" urged the girl but it was too late the attack ran true hitting the Meditite and knocking it off its feet.

"Oh no get up editite" she pleaded as the pokemon valiantly tried to get back on its feet.

While I did feel bad for her I wasn't about to give it time to recover "Song use aerial ace" i commanded. At my orders Song dove down smacking the Meditite back to the floor as it tried to get up.

"Ha did you see that 2 hits and the runt went down. Wait till brawly hears about this" said the same gym bro from before.

Upon hearing this the girl returned her pokemon and turned around to leave tears in her eyes. "Aww did we make lil girly cry" said the other one. That seemed to be the final straw and she took off running out of the gym. Seeing them bully her like that seriously rubbed me the wrong way and I felt as my ears became red from the anger.

"Tch. Hey idiots both of you release your pokemon since you want to make fun of her ill make sure i beat you both in one hit" I taunted. This brought them out of their teasing and made them angry "Oh yeah twerp i'd like to see you try".

Perhaps sensing I was mad and not playing around anymore Songs feathers tensed up and she let out an angry squawk at the appearance of a Machop and Makuhita on the other side of the field. The referee who was beginning to say how this format was against the rules was quickly shut up by the two gym trainers.

"Battle begin, Machop Focus blast/ Makuhita Rock throw.

"Dodge and super speed," I said. Super speed was a combo move of sorts, Swablu would use agility and tailwind continuously to increase its speed to crazy levels . The increasing speed made the attacks that the trainers were throwing at her useless.

"How about you fight like a man," yelled one of them.

I rolled my eyes at that comment "Song sing for them".

Song used Sing , letting out a chorus of warbles, causing both Machop and Makuhita to fall asleep right next to each other. I looked toward two frustrated trainers and let out a shit eating grin "Brave bird," I commanded.

"Crap crap get up right now you worthless pokemon" they both screamed. To their credit the Machop stirred just in time to see Song fully cloaked in blue smack into him and Makuhita sending them both flying into the wall at the other side of the arena leaving behind a large dent. Knowing she had won, Song came back and perched on my arm. She used roost to gain health and began cleaning her feathers.

I looked over at the two fuming trainers and repeated the line they said earlier back to them. "Man getting beat in one move, how weak someone should tell brawly he needs new trainers," I laughed. "Tell your boss i'll be here by tomorrow for a battle at 3" i said walking out.

I made sure to stop by the desk and say bye to the receptionist while also discreetly getting cyber back onto my xtranceiver. She congratulated me on my wins and before I left I asked her if she knew where the girl I had battled went.

"Oh Laura, she probably went by the cave, that's where she always goes when she's upset" she said. Seeing as I had nothing better to do I took a walk to Dewford cave and saw her sitting in the sand staring at the pokeball in her hand.

When she heard me approaching she made a mad face "you here to make fun of me too?" she said defensively.

"Not at all," I said sitting down a little bit of a distance from her.

"Then what are you here for?" she said. I don't know, I just wanted to let you know I embarrassed those two gym bros. Challenged them to a 2v1 with my Swablu and beat them with one hit.

"Oh well thanks, I guess I'm glad they got what they deserved" she said.

"You're welcome but so why do you put up with that?" I asked, looking toward her.

"Put up with what?" She said playing dumb

"You know the teasing".

She slumped her shoulders and let out a sigh. "Well they're right I'm not very strong if it wasn't for me being Brawlys sister I wouldn't be a gym trainer at all and we all know it".

"Then why don't you just quit?" I questioned.

What else would I do? I have to become a gym leader after brawly if something happens or if he ends up trying to be an elite four member in the future.

I got up and dusted the sand off myself "Well lifes too short to just stay on some tiny ass island hating your life," I said. "I'll be beating your brother at 3. You should come watch"I said leaving.

I got back to my room in the pokemon center and had a sandwich while my pokemon ate there food as Song told the story of her miraculous victory. Looking through all the files Cyber swiped for me turned out brawly was a bit of a playboy. Roxanne said they started dating this time last year and in this year alone he has been caught kissing challengers and his receptionist in his gym on camera a whopping 20 times. And that was just in the gym alone what a scumbag , well a legend but still a scumbag for cheating. I propped up all the pictures in a little file deleting the redos as his receptionist was there a whole bunch of times, poor simp. With that done I had Porygon spend 2 hours encoding the message to not be traced back to us and sent it over to her xtransceiver.

It was 6 pm when Roxanne received a message from an unknown number saying look at your faithful boyfriend with a file attached. The built-in virus protection said the file was safe to open so she opened it. What was in the file was 20 separate videos of brawly flirting and kissing random women in his gym with time stamps and dates. What made matters worse was the timestamp of one the day of their anniversary a few hours before she arrived in dewford. She began to cry in her office and told her secretary to cancel all gym battles for the day her golem put a 3 fingered claw on her shoulder to try to console her as she cried. The crying stopped a few hours later as it turned into anger as she wrote her final message to brawly before blocking him on every platform possible save for the gym leader chat which was not possible.

Brawly's day started off great as he went to the beach and caught some sick waves with his pokemon and then afterward was doted on by a couple of beach babes from out of town. Life was good , that was until he came back to the gym and his secretary refused to speak to him again but that was whatever she'd get over it in a few days she always did. The real kicker though was how some punk came into his gym and spit all over the dewford gyms name calling them all weak. And then of course his brat of a sister got sad and ran away crying as she always did when she lost a battle.

Working out in the gym to vent his frustration he received a text from Roxanne which was weird as she said she would be grading papers till late and she was nothing if not punctual.

"Dear brawly, you are a steaming pile of Tauros dung. Never contact me or I will report this to the league, more than half of those women you seduced were challengers who just so happened to get badges. I sincerely hope you fall off your surfboard onto Pincurchin and break a leg literally. Bye." Attached was 20 videos of brawly hooking up with various women all from the gym cameras.

"Fuck" he screamed slamming his hand on the desk hard. How did she get those videos? There's no way she could access the gym's security system. The commotion caused his secretary to come in.

"What happened, are you alright? I heard a commotion in here?"she asked.

"It was you wasn't it. You skag, i know it was you finally got too jealous huh and had to go and ruin my whole relationship" he said waving his hands accusingly

"What are you talking about brawly? I didn't do anything" she said, backing up.

"Don't lie to me!" he screamed "there's no one else who could access the gym footage but you skank".

The girl began to cry. "If you don't believe me, fine I quit check my computer you'll see I didn't do anything wrong," she said, running away crying.

Going to the desk brawly checked the history on the computer and saw that her words were true. A girl like her wouldn't have been able to download the file and delete any trace of it alone. Going to his intercom he called all his gym trainers one of them must know something.

After sending the email I returned to the training area of the pokemon center but didn't send out Cyber just in case we were being monitored. As we were training I went over who i'd be using for my battle tomorrow Boo and Song were a given but i didn't know who to put in my final slot. In the end i decided on jigglypuff as my final slot so i began going over strategies. According to the pokeweb he'd most likely be using a Machop,Makuhita, and a Meditite. To be quite frank I didn't think I could lose in the slightest. After a little bit of planning I decided to watch some battles of famous leaders, particularly my grandfather Blaine and uncle Koga. Honestly Kogas battles were impressive but I couldn't tell if he was holding back either that or this world's Koga did not hold a candle to my uncle. Anyway some more research showed what i suspected mega evolution was a thing here but not very widely common with only elites and lucky individuals having the means to do it. I don't know how but i had to get my hands on a Charizardite because mega charizard was cool as hell. It was Puffys turn to pick a show so we ended up watching a play performed by the kimono girls of the bell tower.
