Demon God

Ascending a desolate hill, the Administrator pondered why Morato chose such a bizarre meeting area, for a short conversation, and why he even bothers following through. But yet again he sees him like a child, trying to make everything as dramatic as possible.

A bothered Administrator reached the peak, and greeted Morato, with utmost seriousness.

Morato smirked, “Don't mind the storm, we're here for your candidate. I'm not as sure of her as you, but of course I'm not the one choosing.”

“Pity your sight is too limited to find one that's capable,” The Administrator retorted.

Morato raised his head slightly at this comment. “Hm. Limited? Mine has been more about now… Yours about the process,” Morato replied.

The Administrator narrowed his eyes, “You have someone better in mind?”

“I suppose not… Guess time's like this require you to have faith?” Morato slyly replied.

The Administrator paused for a moment, everything in his vicinity also freezing in place.

“Are you testing me Morato?” The Administrator asked.

“Who me? no… Everyone knows their place, as well as I,” Morato replied, walking by the Administrator.

“I doubt you do,” The Administrator remarked.

As the long-awaited day finally arrived Koshi and Ko prepared themselves for the momentous event ahead.

They sat down to have a meal together, the atmosphere very calm. Koshi took this opportunity to share details about her whereabouts yesterday to Ko.

Despite the gravity of this revelation, Ko's reaction remains nonchalant, much to Koshi's surprise.

Koshi sips on her tea, “Hmm, you really are fearless?” Koshi asked, taken aback by his composure.

“I wouldn't say…” Ko finally responded.

“Uh-huh,” Koshi smiled. “Thanks, that's so much better,” She sarcastically remarked.

“You're welcome,” Ko replied.

“Ha Ha, very funny,” Koshi muttered, annoyed.

She stared a bit at Ko, until her eyes landed on Ko's weapon. “You know, I've been wondering if I should get myself a weapon? Being skilled with a weapon would provide me with more options in combat.”

“Hmm, yeah, I think it would really suit you. So what would be your weapon of choice?” Ko asked curiously.

“Weapon of choice, eh?” Koshi murmured, thinking carefully. “Ah, that's difficult. I've never really tried any, so I guess the one that suits me best, what that one may be, I'm not sure at the moment.”

“Well, you can always have one custom built to your liking,” Ko suggested.

Koshi nodded lightly. “I think I prefer that option.”

The two patiently finished up their meal for the morning and got their fill of each other for a rough day ahead.

With the location of their showdown already in hand, courtesy of Morato. Koshi has yet to give up on trying to figure out what would be required of her that would be that difficult.

As they left the house, the sunlight bathed them in the golden glow. Ko turned to Koshi, his eyes filled with a quiet sense of worry, "So we're going now?"

She looked up to the sky for a brief moment, before addressing his question, “If you're ready?”

“Mhm. I'm good to go,” Ko replied, his tone betraying a bit of hesitation.

On their way to their destination, Ko stared perplexed by Koshi's odd behavior, as she shook her head a numerous amount of times.

The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Koshi tried to grapple with the fact she might have to do something unforgivable, her mind going over the possible scenarios. “That may be to burn down a village, or maybe to even sacrifice a baby,” Koshi thought, causing herself to worry more. “Okay, stop thinking like that.”

Worried, Ko pokes her in the side gently, scaring her out of her frantic line of thinking.

“Thanks for that Ko… I seriously didn't need to overthink the situation,” Koshi said, still a bit shaken up. “And yes, I'll be fine, for today at least.”

“Not a good liar are you?” Ko thought, his eyes filled with worry.

After a long walk to the center of town transportation site for instantaneous travel to their location. The keeper for the site greeted them, knowing who they are, he urged them to step in the center so he could begin the transporting spell.

Koshi and Ko complied, stepping in the center. As the Keeper whispered the incantation, above them formed a magic array of centric circles with interlocking triangles.

A low hum whispered throughout the air, as smaller arrays formed above each, the glow above Koshi and Ko Illuminated with intensity for a mere second.

They glanced around to see that they've arrived and were greeted by a particular landscape. The land was broken and fragmented, with floating boulders suspended in the air like pieces of a puzzle waiting to be assembled.

The surreal landscape left them in awe, marveling at the beauty of this peculiar part of the world.

“Ah, let's get going,” Koshi said.

“Hey, why do we have to find him?” Ko asked, being childish.

“We are not… I think we're just early. Let's get higher,” Koshi replied.

Climbing to a point, Koshi and Ko found themselves standing high enough to have a decent overview of their location.

"It's Incredible…" Koshi said in awe, her eyes taking in the unique beauty of the landscape. “But… The land has enormous chasms … Darkness is also unusual,” She said, also noting the dangers.

Ko observed the darkness, the beauty of the landscape for him being overshadowed by the darkness.

“Alright let's go,” Koshi said. As they both descended the hill.

Before they even reached the base, an unexpected presence greeted them, The Administrator.

“Took long enough,” Ko murmured.

Kosh cleared her throat. “Ko…”

“But it's the truth…” Ko retorted.

“Apologies, for the wait. He should be arriving soon,” The Administrator said.

Koshi looked down for a moment, her heart pounding. She looked up, her eye's meeting the Administrator's, "I-We're ready,” she replied with unwavering resolve.

As if summoned by their readiness, Morato appeared out of nowhere, a sly smile playing on his lips.

Koshi gasps, shaken by her unexpected opponent. “Is this… Who we'll be battling,” Koshi asked, trying not to jump to any conclusions.

“Yes,” The Administrator sternly replied.

The Administrator, having fulfilled his role at the moment, vanished from the scene, leaving Koshi and Ko to face Morato.

Morato's eyes narrowed as he looked at Ko for a moment before turning his attention back to Koshi, "Look at you," he thought to himself, a sinister smile playing on his lips, "Now then, I suppose It's fear to at least give you two the chance to adapt. So go on strike first," he declared, his voice dripping with malice.

Koshi contemplates how she should attack, whether it would be effective enough, or even provide a hint to his potential abilities.

Unlike Koshi who thinks too much, when it comes to situations like this, Ko unsheathe his sword ready to do something. Sorta the whole reason he's here, specifically for scenarios like this, he can fight head on and take the bulk of the hit, while she prepares something to finish their opponent off.

To Morato, Ko's moving in practically slow motion, giving him almost all the time in the world to vanish from sight.

Out from Ko's view he reappears, and is immediately engulfed in a pillar of flames, this attack almost getting Ko as well.

As the pillar fades Morato is left unharmed. Koshi is taken aback by the fact there's not even so much as a scratch on him.

Jokingly Morato fans himself with his hand. "Wow! You almost had me,” Morato said jokingly. “Hm, Crimson flames huh?"

Koshi stared at the unharmed Morato in front of her, feeling her will fading from her body slowly, “Just how on earth am I supposed to deal with this… He's in another league of his own,” Koshi thought.

Ko took the opportunity to strike at Morato, thrusting his sword hoping to at least land a blow.

Of course this was merely wishful thinking, as Morato grabbed the tip of Ko's sword, stopping it in place.

He slowly turned head towards Ko, “You almost had me… I'm obviously joking. But don't be discouraged, try again,” Morato said in a mocking tone.

In one swift blow, he kicks Ko, hurtling an incredible distance with little effort.

Koshi takes a deep breath, “Okay hell, it's time for me to do something.”

A massive crimson flow poured from Koshi's body, as she prepared to unleash something.

Morato stood firm in the line of firing, feeling a slight pull effect on him.

“Hmm, I wonder what this one will be?” Morato thought with a wide smirk across his face.

A slight pain fills Morato's chest, almost like a constant pinch as he constantly regenerates but can't fill.

He looked down to see a blade, and Ko behind him.

Caught off guard, Morato pondered how Ko could've gotten behind him, with his senses at such a level, it shouldn't be possible.

Before Morato got the chance to retaliate, Ko swiftly drew back, putting distance between him and Morato.

At last Koshi smiled, she'd accomplished something in this battle. “Arrogance. He thought I was going for an attack, but in reality I was just blocking his senses so Ko could get close enough.”

She relaxed a bit, straightening herself, “Good. That means he's not invincible and can be hurt. Now for the really hard part,” Koshi thought, determination beaming from her eyes.
