All the players in and near Rosecott village received the same quest. Wether they were hunting out in the woods, hanging around the spawn point or starry eyed newbies, the system made no distinction.
Buried in Amber
Up until now, demons were considered to be mere tales to scare children at night.
However with the apperance of Berith in this little village, both you and its inhabitants have no choice but to believe that the stories are true.
Defeat the demon, and bring back the peace that Rosecott village has always known!
Rewards: Exp rewarded according to contribution.
1st place: Platinum chest
2nd place: Golden chest
3rd place: Silver chest
4th and 5th place: Bronze chest
It was a new type of quest, where players would compete over first place.
Everyone was thrilled. To think they would be lucky enough to brag about it for years to come!
For better or worse, only seven people had obtained the quest. And all of them were eyeing the first place prize. Even if the item itself was worthless, the rarity alone could fetch a very good price. Just the name alone, legendary and mythic, could evoke feelings of awe.
The fact that the boss was probably a demon gave the players some worry. But it was just a boss in the starting area. How hard would it be?
Everyone that got the quest flocked towards the village, eyeing suspiciously their own competitors.
And there it was: the great demonic boss, standing in the middle of the main street, some people already confronting it.
But… it looked like a child? A smug child, mind you. But it was still… not as imposing as they thought he would be.
Noticing their arrival, the boy looked at them, a smile forming on his lips. Oh? More of you? No matter. He opened his arms wide, as if welcoming them. It won’t make a difference wether there are three or twenty of you. Come.
His eyes shined with a silver light and everyone felt an invisible pressure wash over them. They all knew it: it was the time for a challenging boss battle.
The players clenched their weapons firmly and charged onwards. The rewards were theirs for the taking!

Tacha Macha was worried about the strange ability the demon used. That ‘Scales of Retribution’ seemed to be some kind of illusion ability. If it was a AoE ability to boost, then it would become very problematic.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
One person under the illusion was one matter, but 5? 10? That might as well be a wipe. Besides, there was no guarantee that there were enough people present.
What if there were going to be only three players facing the boss? Wouldn’t they be smacked around like flies.
It was a demon, a named demon from the Ars Goetia!
To have a boss with one of those famus names meant that it was likely to be quite powerful. Could she have a realistic chance to beat it? Especially now with that problematic marked condition of hers?
The granny stopped herself from going further into that line of thinking. Wait a second. The demon still looks like Kirio. Then doesn’t it mean that it would be a case of posession? She thought back on all of her gaming experience. A posessed character that still looks like himself is weaker than the big bad evil entity behind him.
Yes. The demon choose to leave the premise instead of killing her on the spot. Did it have another objective?
The grandma pondered over the matter. She felt that knowing the demon’s intention was the key for both the event quest and her exclusive one.
What was different between the two of them?
Coils of Amber
It was said that the various ruins across the continent held a secret dangerous enough to destroy countries and topple kingdoms.
Various factions were eager to get their hands on it, no matter what it took. However, for one reason or another they all failed.
The secret however was nothing that could be wielded like a weapon.
It was simply a ward to stop the calamity of the world beyond.
After centuries of inactivity the Gate of the City of Amber has been opened and you have no choice but to face the consequences.
???
If she had to make a guess, then it was that the chain quest, Coils of Amber, had no mention of the demon. Plus it had no clear direction.
Could it be similar to the Tears of the Moon quest? The one she had gotten from the skeleton back in the ruins. That too had no clues on how to advance the quest.
The only way she found was to use her new ability, the Charting Compass.
Meanwhile the objective of the event quest was plain and simple: beating up Berith.
Thinking that it wouldn’t hurt to try, she activated the ability.
Charting Compass activated.
Select the quest to receive a clue for:
- Tears of the Moon
- The Curse of Styx
- Coils of Amber
- Buried in Amber
She noticed the event quest being included in the list, but decided to ignore it. If the previous attempt was of any indication, not all of the clues would be useful. There was no way that it would give more info for a quest that was basically ‘Go kill X!’.
Corruption breeds illusion,
however illusion merely beckons corruption.
To tread the path is to free oneself from the yokes of fate.
Seek the effigy of Skoll the Amber, for it can show the way
during the moonless nights.
Great. What was that supposed to mean?
She didn’t even have time to ponder before she could hear a big commotion happening outside. With no other choice left she checked the weapon she got as a quest reward.
Celestial Slasher (Replica)
A replica of a legendary sword that cut down the moon in seven fragments.
Just like in the stories, the blade is as clear as ice and as hot as fire. However upon closer inspection you can see that the blade is merely covered in a reflective material and the hilt is infused with an heat-emitting magic.
Faithful Recreation: It gives off an awe-inspiring might, as long as it’s not used.
Cold Resistance: Gives resistance to low-level cold debuffs and status effects.
Attack: 63~75 Durability: 50/50
It was going to be more useful that the poor radish she had been using up until now, right?
