Chapter 7: On the Way to the City

“I don’t think he’s lying; his ecclesiastical vestments with those embroideries are uncommon. It wouldn’t hurt to accompany them. Besides, I don’t even know how long it would take me to reach the city at this pace,” Qin Seo thought while looking at the priest.

“I understand. I’m Qin Seo, thank you for your hospitality,” Qin Seo said with a friendly smile.

“Hahaha, no need to be so humble, come in and make yourself comfortable wherever you like,” Razel said as he opened the carriage door.

As he entered the carriage, Qin Seo saw the other person sitting next to Razel. He hadn’t been able to see her clearly before because she had her head covered by a hood.

The interior was spacious, the seat was lined with leather and looked comfortable. Qin Seo sat next to the door, in front of the priest.

The girl, removing her hood, said, “Hi, I’m Tiana, Razel’s daughter. I also serve as a cleric in Nukasen.”

She seemed to be around 20 years old, with long blonde hair tied back with a clip, blue eyes, and a youthful, smiling expression. She wore a long white dress with gold embroidery, and a brooch with a golden cross in the shape of a sword drew attention at her neck.

Razel, closing the door and returning to his seat, said, “Don’t be fooled by her angelic appearance, deep down she’s like her mother— a cunning crow. But she has a good heart.”

“Daaddd...” Tiana, embarrassed, didn’t know where to hide, covering her face with her hands and looking away.

Razel and Qin Seo couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

After a short while, they calmed down and started a new round of questions from both sides.

“What were you doing so far from the city without any vehicle?” Razel asked curiously.

Tiana was wondering the same thing and paid close attention to Qin Seo.

He had already anticipated this question and had prepared an answer long ago.

Without much delay, he said, “I was gathering some herbs when suddenly someone hit me in the back of the head, and I lost consciousness for a few moments. When I woke up, all my herbs were gone. Luckily, I still had my backpack, but unfortunately, the blow was so strong that I lost my memory. I only remember my name and what I was doing before I passed out,” he said, scratching the back of his head.

“My only hope was that I was close to this road where I could see the city; otherwise, I don’t know how I would’ve survived,” Qin Seo lamented with a sad face.
