CHAPTER 90 - COINCIDENCE OR MAYBE FATE
Combo Sword might be an overpowered Ultra Rare Card, but it has its flaws. One flaw is that it heavily relies on luck unless I fill up my whole deck with all Skill Cards, which is a riskier move.
If the Combo fails, that means all the Combo Sword did is stun the opponent in a short amount of time!
“Raaaaaaah!” The Cyber Werewolf roared out loud, making a shockwave that drove Raynevere slightly away!
“Guh!” Raynevere grunted as she held the floor for a better anchor on the ground. If she didn’t do that, she would have been thrown away by the shockwave of that werewolf’s roar!
“Oh my gosh, we are lucky.” Kristen Rattler mentioned as she revealed her next Command Card! “Activate Skill Card: Roar Bullets.”
“Raaaaah!” The Cyber Werewolf opened his mouth wide, and then he shouted with full force! In an instant, an invisible shockwave projectile flew toward my Gladiatrix!
It was a good thing that Raynevere has this awesome battle instinct that let her pinpoint the Roar Bullet projectiles. She waltzed, spun, and somersaulted to avoid the barrage of invisible shockwave bullets, and she even answered some of those ranged attacks with her energy arrows.
“Raynevere, try getting closer!” I suggested out loud.
My Gladiatrix did not need to confirm as she was already doing what I said. She zigzagged the path, evading all the Roar Bullets on the way until she was already five meters away from the Cyber Werewolf!
“Raah! Raah! Raaaah!” The Cyber Werewolf continued to unleash his ranged attack until he noticed that Raynevere is circling to his right!
“Oh my god, she got up close.” The opponent Kaiser muttered. I think it would be best to ignore her monotonous robotic commentary.
At this moment, the Cyber Werewolf’s Roar Bullets have run out. He also decided that the best way to deal with the Cyber Elf is to fight in closed range, so he reactivated the blades on his gauntlets again and readied to pounce!

But then-
“Activate Skill Card: Quicksand!” I used my final Command Card.
The soil on the feet of the Cyber Werewolf immediately softened, and for the second step, he made, his lower body sunk into the Quicksand! He tried to get off by digging into the ground with his long metallic claws, but the quicksand is eating his weapon!
“Raaaah!” The Cyber Werewolf cried.
“Oh my gosh, he’s stuck.” The opponent Kaiser commented once again in a robotic manner. She was just about to raise another Command Card, but…
Meanwhile, Raynevere is still closing in toward the Cyber Werewolf. When she was less than a meter away, the Cyber Werewolf tried to slash her with his claws, but the blades remained stuck on the sand!
“Hup!” Raynevere stomped on the Cyber Werewolf’s head and jumped over, closing in the distance towards the opponent Kaiser!
As Raynevere closed one of her eyes to aim, she pulled her energy arrow and unleashed! The arrow hit the Command Card that was about to be raised by the opponent!
“Oh my gosh-”
There’s no need to listen to her monotonous sentence. Raynevere has already unleashed her second arrow aimed toward the opponent’s forehead. So before she could utter more words, she was struck by a headshot that put her lifeless on the ground.
No, not lifeless. Kaiser Kristen Rattler is as pale as a zombie in the first place, and she just fell to the ground stiff like a stick. We were quite worried that we overdid it, but she’s still okay.
“Oh my gosh, I lost.”
[Battle Finished]
“The winner of this fight is Raynevere Treenity and Elzane Chaldeas! What an awesome fight!” The emcee shouted.
The crowd went wild at the spectacular performance as the buzzer went on! This is not what Raynevere and I planned in terms of quickness, but all is well that ends well, right? Like our past two battles, Raynevere and I made a high-five to celebrate our win!

The fights between the other Kaisers and Gladiators/Gladiatrices continued. We were just sitting in the backstage room, waiting for the last round of this fight. We did not see Himeno Yuusha in this room, so maybe she was assigned to another.
The Battle Fiesta buzzers beeped on and on, signaling the fights starting and getting finished. It was just about fifteen minutes until the emcee proclaimed an announcement.
“All battles for the Third Round of Bracke A have been concluded! And now, this is the Fourth Round and Final Match of the night! All eight winners tonight will be promoted from Entry-Grade to High-Grade and will advance to the Playoffs Stage! Good luck!”
As the audience cheered once more, the jumbotron randomized the names for this final round of the night. My heart pounded nonstop like a boom box. I’ve never felt so much thrill in this Battle Fiesta.
And the next battle can be counted as a coincidence or fate.
