CHAPTER 116 - DAMNED FAKE

CHAPTER 116 - DAMNED FAKE

Gawainus Treenity was watching everything. He knew that her only granddaughter has a defect, and there is nothing he can do about it. He may have forged Raynevere Treenity to act as such, but Gawainus has a different motive in mind.

A necessary evil is needed for the greater good. Gawainus has pledged himself to become the devil, to conduct human experimentations for the advancement of mystical nanomachines research. With his unwavering mind and cemented resolve, he managed to create a pharmaceutical subsidiary of Treenity Innovations that sells medications using the said nanomachines.

Even I know what Gawainus Treenity was capable of. He cured cancer. He cured AIDS. He stopped the coronavirus mutations. He even fixed genetic mutations.

However, his fatal flaw was he was too kind to his only granddaughter. At a very young age, Raynevere has shown exceptional talents in mystical nanomachine research. He injected the mystical nanomachines into his daughter to advance her taught processes by twenty years, making Raynevere Treenity a super genius.

He tried to create a vaccine that stabilizes the nanomachines inside a Cyberdemon’s body and left Raynevere to lead the research. He experimented on his daughter and made her a Numbered Kaiser, a system administrator that is powerful enough to control a Cyberdemon.

And now, seeing his granddaughter celebrate her ‘successful experiment’ gives a bitter aftertaste in his mouth. Watching her laughing at the center of the bloodbath and flames of the ruined indoor garden makes Gawainus think of his life decisions.

“It was too late. Raynevere is a lost cause.” Gawainus muttered as he left the scene, unbeknownst to his granddaughter.

The simulations changed once again; this time, I got myself in the other part of the archive room. In this dark room full of experiments, there are twelve test tubes, each containing a Raynevere Treenity clone. Some clones are incomplete, some clones are deformed, and others even failed to develop from being a fetus.

Gawainus had this messed-up plan to clone her daughter with the help of his past experiments. And it bore fruit to the one perfect Raynevere clone- Clone Number 12, which is as the corporation AI mentioned, the Raynevere Treenity I knew and loved.

“Ah! Yes! The perfect Raynevere! After eleven failed creations, I have finally created a human that I can call my granddaughter!” Gawainus cried in joy.

Unbeknownst to Gawainus, her real Granddaughter is watching. The real Raynevere was hiding in one of the bookshelves, chewing on her thumb due to suppressed anger and rage. She did not even notice that her fingers had already bled a lot, making her white coat stained with her blood.

Gawainus pressed a button near the perfect Raynevere clone, and the liquid nanomachines were drained from the test tube. The glass cylinder then opened, and the twelfth Raynevere Clone opened her innocent purple eyes there. With her body and mind akin to a twelve-year-old, Rayne immediately succumbed to embarrassment as she realized that she was naked.

“Are you cold? Here, take this.” Gawainus removed his tuxedo and gently put it around the newborn clone.

The clone immediately knew what to do and covered her body. She was silent, but her kind purple eyes immediately realized Gawainus was her parent.

“Grandpa!”

The real Raynevere could no longer suppress her emotions. All her anger exploded the moment Gawainus performed genuine parental affection towards the clone. Gawainus turned to his defective daughter with a stern look, as if he knew that Raynevere was watching the whole time. Meanwhile, the newborn clone is clueless as to what is happening.

“What is the meaning of this, Grandpa!?” Raynevere cried.

“Raynevere… I am sorry. You are a failed experiment. I never should have enhanced your brain with mystical nanomachines.” Gawainus confessed.

“Don’t apologize, Grandpa! It’s all thanks to you that I am a supergenius! Look, I have perfected the Numbered Kaiser Code! I can now control any Cyberdemon!” Raynevere reasoned out with a grim smile.

“No. I just realized that I never should have done that. I never should have played with the antibodies of an Elder God.” Gawainus shook his head in sorrow.

Meanwhile, the Raynevere clone clung onto Gawainus’ elbows, scared of the real Raynevere Treenity. “Grandpa…” She muttered.

“He is not your Grandpa, you damned clone!” Raynevere cried. “I am the real one! And you’re just a fake! A worthless test tube experiment like you have no right to act chummy with my Grandpa!”

“Eeek!” The Raynevere clone hugged Gawainus’ arms tighter. She was scared of the real Raynevere Treenity, who is showing signs of losing her sanity.

“Raynevere, that’s enough.” Gawainus stood up and carried the clone princess style. “From now on, this child will be Raynevere Treenity. She will live a normal life, something I should have given you long ago.”

“B-But I…”

The real Raynevere Treenity failed to finish her sentence when she realized that her beloved dear grandfather has no interest in her anymore. Gawainus just walked past the poor real granddaughter while carrying the clone like a real princess.

“Let’s go, Raynevere,” Gawainus said to the fake. In response, the clone hugged the old man tight.

As the footsteps of the dark room started to fade, Raynevere Treenity clenched her bloodied fists. She gritted her teeth, hard enough that her fangs has sunken on her half-burnt lips. Blood flowed through her chin and a droplet fell to the ground.

“You will pay for everything, you damn fake!” She muttered to herself.
