CHAPTER 69 - THE MYSTERIOUS LETTER
As the days went on, the Battle Fiesta crawls closer. My old uneventful school days somewhat changed when Raynevere became my classmate. Raynevere would often meet me in front of my house and then we will walk together until we reached the school.
For this particular day, we had this particular topic going around us.
“Now that I think of it Elzane, you have no friends, do you?” Raynevere blocked my vision with her adorably tilted face.
“I-I don’t. Well, there are just no people with the same hobby as mine back in my previous classmates. I’m pretty sure anybody would get bored of me if I just talk about nerdy things like Kaiser and Gladiator stuff.” I said.
“I won’t get bored~” Raynevere smiled.
I just blushed in response. I always get caught off-guard by her teasing skills. I don’t want her to catch me with reddish cheeks so I turned away.
“W-Well, at least there’s Firius and Esthesia whom I can talk to about Gladiator and Kaiser things,” I answered.
“Hey, Elzane. If you want, I can also introduce you to my circle of friends. Well, they are all girls, but they will treat you fine since you’re cute.” Raynevere said.
There go Raynevere’s sweet compliments again. I get more flustered whenever she praises me. I’m pretty sure ninety-nine percent of the flattery I got in my life came from her. I’m just glad that she is my wife-to-be.
“Well, speak of the devil!” Raynevere cheerfully said. I saw that she was looking behind us, so I turned around.
There, I saw three girls in the same school uniform as us. Raynevere grabbed my wrist and then introduced me to them.
“Heya, girls!” Raynevere waved her hand.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Oh, it’s Rayne!” One of the girls said.
“It’s been months since we last saw each other!” The other girl said.
“Hey, who is this guy?” The third girl asked.
“This is Elzane, my future husband!” Raynevere went clingy as she hugged my arm. Then she proceeded to introduce her girlfriends to me. “This one in with the eyeglasses is Jemimah. This skinny girl is Judea. And this chubby but adorable one is Ella!”
“H-Hello.” I trembled as I waved my hand like a broken clock.
All of them looked at me as if they just saw a trash can in the middle of the road.
“Gross. Where did we go wrong, Rayne?” Jemimah said.
“He looks uninspired and nerdy,” Judea said.
“Poor Rayne. You are forced to marry a guy like him.” Ella said.
I was about to cry like a bitch but then Raynevere stood up for me.
“Hey, don’t be like that to my fiance! Elzane is cool! He’s smart and hardworking too! And he saved my life multiple times!” Raynevere yelled.
“Well, at least he’s normal. Too normal though.” Jemimah said.
“I heard that love can be learned. Way to go, Rayne! You finally had your foot beyond the doorstep!” Judea said.
“Your taste in men is really weird, Rayne. But we can still accept you as our friend regardless.” Ella said.
“H-Hey! Don’t be mean to my fiance!” Raynevere cried. Then she turned to me and explained. “Don’t mind them, they just love dry humor like this.”
“B-But that doesn’t mean that what they said is false.” I forced a smile while trying hard to endure not to cry at this very moment.
“Of course it’s false! They are just joking, trust me!” Raynevere explained.
I can’t take this anymore. I’m not built into insults, and I have a tender heart. So I decided to walk faster, slightly leaving Raynevere behind.
“Hey, Elzane! Wait!”

I did not stop walking fast until we reached the classroom. I briefly looked behind and saw Raynevere still trying to catch up to me. Behind her are her three savage girlfriends.
This is one of the reasons why I avoid interacting with people. I’m always afraid that they will immediately judge me. It’s worse when they are throwing insults. It happened once with Raynevere’s Grandpa, and now with Raynevere’s friends. It seems that I won’t be accepted by people near her even if we get married to each other.
I was about to dip my face in my desk when I saw a pink letter on top. I looked around and saw nobody nearby except Himeno Yuusha sitting in the front row.
I wanted to ask who is this somebody who dropped a letter on my desk, but Himeno Yuusha just turned away.
“What’s that?” Raynevere finally caught up and her curiosity went to its peak.
“It’s a letter. I just saw it on top of my desk.”
“Hurry, open it!” Raynevere excitedly pumped up.
I opened the letter and saw a clean purple and pink card. It says “Come meet me at the cherry blossom tree after class.”
