CHAPTER 107 - THE GREAT ESCAPE INCIDENT

“Wha-what!?” I cried immediately when the purple cat blurted out something about the hickeys. I immediately looked down in a desperate attempt to see what was in my collarbone and neck, but it is impossible to see it.

When Himeno realized that I was struggling, she opened up a make-up kit and showed me the mirror. She was right. I was full of hickeys from behind my chin down to my collars. I tried to wipe it, but alas, those are just dry blood clots on my skin. Raynevere must have bitten some of it since we were quite rough last night.

“Well, how was the synchronization?” Himeno asked.

“N-No comment!” I tried to hide my hickeys by raising my shirt’s collars.

“Okay then. It’s none of my business, and I don’t even care whatever you do with each other. As long as you two keep the company alive and thriving, I wouldn’t mind you two doing lewd things in public. Raynevere’s the president, after all, so you lovebirds can do whatever you want.”

“Ulp.” I swallowed my saliva. I felt like I was just being scolded by a big sister.

All of a sudden, Himeno gazed at the windows, seemingly looking at the light blue skies. “That makes me go back to when Ryan and I were just starting.”

“Oh, so Ryan is your boyfriend?” I asked.

“Slave.” Himeno abruptly answered.

“I’m not talking about your kinks. He’s your lover, right?”

“Slave,” Himeno answered with a straight face and a cold glare.

“R-Right.” I conceded. I guess this purple cat’s pride is still sky-high, considering that she is still hiding their relationship. I felt like I have to go to my next question as it is kind of related to Himeno and Ryan’s personal matters. “Anyway, I will have to ask some things about Ryan Radars.”

“You mean about the Numbered Kaisers, right?” Himeno laid back on her sofa.

“Y-Yes.” I nodded.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

“Hmmm… I’m not really familiar with the Numbered Kaisers since I was surprised about that revelation too when the Yggdrasil AI blurted it out. I have asked Ryan about it, but he’s just clueless as I am. Honestly, none of us can give you straight answers as these terms are all alien to us.”

“Oh, okay.” I bowed.

“If you want to know more about it, maybe you should ask Siferas. That old hag seems to know a lot about this.”

“That’s one problem. I can’t get in touch with her, or even big bro Nigel.”

“I guess you will have to confront the real Raynevere Treenity to learn about the truth yourself,” Himeno said with a smile.

I clenched my fist. My source of information is scarce, and now I’m down to my final question with her. I relaxed for a little as I had my cup of coffee refilled by the maid, and then opened my mouth.

“What do you know about the Great Escape of the Treenity Innovations?”

Himeno scrunched her face, seemingly shifting to her most serious expression up to date. It’s like I’m seeing the Himeno Yuusha we fought hard during the Battle Fiesta’s first round. I had goosebumps as I stared at her crimson eyes, but I steeled my resolve.

“The Great Escape two years ago was an enigmatic event that only a few people were able to witness. It was a complete lockdown, and all the media turned to a complete blackout due to Ex-President Gawainus Treenity’s orders. That is why I will never forgive that old man who just shoved off my clan’s efforts for the better good of the corporation.”

Himeno laid down her empty cup of tea on the glass table with force. I thought the table or the cup cracked because of the clashing sound, but it was just the emotional pressure I’m feeling from the purple cat. But even with this tension, Himeno continued her story.

“I was clueless back then. I was working on the files on the underground floor, just near the Human Experimentation Department, when the fire alarm went off. A couple of Cyberdemons broke out from the laboratory, and they chased me. They got me good. They tore my left arm, pierced my right kidney, and blinded my left eye. I was drenched with my blood as I ran away, clinging for my own dear life. When ”

Himeno looked at her trembling hand. Her crimson irises are shaking and watery as if she is holding back her tears. To contradict her expression, she gave a menacing smile as she continued to talk.

“I can still remember the fear and pain I felt that day. It was just like yesterday. A nightmare. Good thing a certain escapee was there to wake me up from that hellish dream.”

“Ryan Radars,” I muttered. “He was one of the escapees as a part of the Numbered Kaiser Protocol.”

“That’s right. When he found me, he immediately injected the mystical nanomachines and activated the Gladiatrix System to repair my body. Then, she used me as his Gladiatrix to destroy those monsters who were wreaking havoc inside the corporation grounds. Too bad, I was too late. I failed to rescue my father on that night.”

That story is somewhat the same as my story with Raynevere. I remember that fateful night when the burning village and a mountain of corpses are everywhere. It was almost the same traumatic experience that Himeno Yuusha has experienced.

“That is why Raynevere Treenity has to pay. I will make sure she will pay with blood.” Himeno clenched her fists out of anger and thirst for revenge.
