So, maybe I should have explained all of this to Pan before we got this far. The main reason that I didn’t is because I was still annoyed with all the crap that Carlisle was putting me through with my levels and equipment. I mean so far as I’m concerned I should still be level 25 and shepherding Pan around power leveling him so that I can get out of here as fast as I can but here I am stuck actually having to fight alongside him in order to gain back the levels I lost in that stupid experience transfer that apparently didn’t even work as it should have. So here I am frustrated beyond all belief angry at Pan for no reason other than the fact that I’m stuck with him until we manage to get our act together and beat the game.
“So, what’s with all the monsters that spawned when this world became part of the game system?” Pan asked me. “Well let’s say that those monsters are going to take over parts of the ecosystem on this world. Every monster that spawned is going to have a new place in this world. From the dragons on down the line to the rats all of them are going to have a place in the new pecking order. Just keep in mind that all of them are going to have a natural predator on this planet, even the dragons are going to have a natural nemesis. Though that nemesis is more likely to be the people on this planet than any of the other monsters here.” I replied somewhat snarkily; hey I never said that I enjoyed having to play Sherpa to any of the people that I’m going to have with me through this mission.
Having given Pan that bit of information I start to kite the next group of monsters over his protest that he needed to have more information about what’s going to happen to his world now that it’s begun the transformation into one of the system worlds of the game. Managing to kill all the Knight Squirrels before too much has passed I reach level five and finally have enough levels to equip the Knuckle Short Swords that we had managed to get during our trek to this storefront. Going to bring in one of the new monsters that we must fight I manage to get halfway to Pan before I’m struck from behind. Picking up my pace I know that I need to have back-up in case something else goes wrong with the current fight I’m in. Getting back to Pan I turn to face this new creature that managed to attack me before I was ready to face it.

Seeing Pan rush past me to fight the new monster I watch as he misses his first attack on it. Or rather I should say Strike One. Strike Two. Strike Three. Good thing this isn’t Baseball or else we would be in trouble. I go into the fray trying to help him and get to see how incredibly fast this thing is before making my first strike at it. Right as it was going to hit Pan he manages to get out of the way of the attack by the narrowest of margins. Pan drops his sword from his attack position and starts to watch the new squirrel for any new attack that it’s going to make at him. I go to make an attack and Pan waves me away. “Don’t attack it. I have the aggro right now and need to see the timing of its attacks in order to get its patterns.” I stop, dumbfounded to know that there is a plan to what he’s doing.

Ok so that’s not the entire reason why I want Rose not to attack this thing. See when I dodged its attack earlier that little experience bar that was at the bottom of my HUD jumped up by one third of the total progress. Wanting to know just what would happen when this bar got full I told Rose not to attack otherwise I would miss this chance to see the results from it being full. Making sure to watch the ridiculously fast monster in front of me I dodged its next attack. Now the bar is just a little tick away from being full and I am just a small amount of time away from knowing at least one part of its attack patterns. Watching, watching, Move. The bar is now about a quarter full and I see a small prompt in front of me saying that I need to be out of combat to see the upgrade that I received from the experience bar reaching full. Seeing that I won’t be able to get the results of getting that bar filled until I finish off the monster. Waiting for the next attack to come I quickly dodge it to counter-attack it. Oddly enough that was all it took to kill it. One simple swing of my sword.
