Arwin paced in the room he'd been given, a nervous habit of his since he was a child. Lord Edward was due to arrive within the hour and he couldn't calm his nerves. His first diplomatic talk was possibly about to begin and he was worried about screwing up his first impression with Lord Edward. When someone suddenly Knocked at the door to escort him and the other envoys down it caused him to jump a little. after he took moment to compose himself he met with Throtson and Tulata in the hall before they headed to the hall for the meeting with the ruler of Elmsdale. Four Austro Guardians accompanied them two in their normal gold inlaid armor, and two of the black raven guards as they had been called since they swore themselves to Arwin's service. The reason for the moniker was they had coloured their armor black and added a straight beak shaped extension to their helmets that resembled a raven's in reference to his heraldry.
"you ok Lord Arwin?" Tulata quietly asked, she was able to all but erase the accent that would normally affect her race as a result of lacking a voice box.
"I am a bit nervous. This will be our first meeting official diplomatic meeting while I don't expect anything major to come of it our first impression didn't go as planned."
"Yes yes but I don't think our sudden arrival was anything to be anxious worried over. only caused small little panic fear, didn't do any actual damage harm." Throtson responded.
"It is true things could have ended up going a lot worse when we accidentally flew directly over ELmsdale, however we should have known they were here in the first place." Arwin blamed himself for that mistake despite there being nothing that could've been done, due to the weather being the problem.
Their conversation was cut short as they had arrived at the room selected for the meeting with Lord Edward. The servant had led them to a room two floors down and east of their bedchambers. inside it was a plain circular room made of the same white stone as the rest of the place, it looked to be about 5 meters in diameter. A large circular oak table in the center is surrounded by simple but sturdy oak chairs with red cushions on the backrest and seat and bare wood on the armrests.
"Please make yourselves comfortable lord Edward will be with you in a few moments." The servant nervously told them while motioning to the table. "Would you like some water or wine to drink?"
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Water will be fine thank you," Arwin said as he sat in a chair. Tulata sat on his left and Throtson on his right while the Guardians stood behind their respective charges.
"No hole space for tail." Throtson grumbled as he shift in his seat trying to get his tail in a comfortable position. Tulata had simply draped her tail around her side and over the front of her chair.
"unfortunately you two might be the first nonhumans they've had stay here. try wrapping your tail around your waits just under or over your belt."
Throtson took spent a few more minutes shifting around before listening to Arwin, to his and Tulata's amusement. Shortly after Thorson had settled into his chair the door opposite where they came in opened. Captain Durwin entered followed by a large and slightly pudgy man in his late thirties or early forties. His black hair was short and neatly brushed back, leaving his rounded face unobstructed. He was clean shaven with deep smile lines on either side of his mouth. Deep blue eyes surveyed everyone in the room lingering on the imposing Raven guard behind Arwin. He was wearing a dark green coat with a silver Lining, brown pants, very simple boots, and a long sword at his side.
"Allow me to introduce Baron Edward Silverwolf. Lord Edward this is Elector Count Arwin Franzson, High Sage Tulata, and Master Alchemist Throtson." Captain Durwin said. Arwin stood to greet him and offered him his hand as they approached the table. Edward accepted and firmly shook it.
"Hello, it is a pleasure to meet you," Edward Said in a deep voice as he sat down. "I must confess we didn't think there was anything beyond the mountains. Much less that they would come across by flying ship."
"Yes, I wish to apologize for arriving unannounced like that, while we knew people lived across the mountain ranges that was the extent of our knowledge. Had we known of your city's location we would have sent simple messengers to ask permission before approaching nor would we have flown directly over it." Arwin bowed slightly as he apologized. He figured it would be best to address this as directly and quickly as possible.
"Apology accepted, while it caused a scare no one was hurt and nothing was damaged." Edward stopped to accept a cup of water from a servant and take a sip. "I would like to know just how many people you have with you?"
Arwin answered basic questions about the ship and her crew complement. Throson and Tulata just sat silently drinking water and listening. He avoided going into specifics for a variety of reasons but assured Edward that while the ship was both armed and carried a small garrison of troops they were exclusively for defending themselves. He in turn asked basic questions about where they were, and who they were dealing with.
