Volume 1, Chapter 2: Normalcy

The bus arrived at 6:30, and Sebastian stepped inside, joining a mix of students, working adults, and a few elderly riders. He found an empty seat next to a woman applying makeup, likely prepping for her day at the office. Settling in, he took out his phone and started watching videos. Sebastian was a Grade 12 STEM student at Oakwood High School in Oakwood State. Generally quiet, his grades were slightly above average, though-

"Hey! Don't reveal my personal information like that!" Sebastian's thoughts interrupted. "Don't you have some kind of rule against invading privacy?"

The narrator pauses as Sebastian switches to a game after finishing his video.

He sighed in mild exasperation and muttered, "Alright, fine... just stop ignoring me."

Sure thing, the narrator responds.

The bus soon arrived at his destination, Oakwood High School-a well-kept public school with clean facilities funded by the government. Sebastian headed to his classroom, where he found his friend Lewis already seated beside his spot in the second row.

Lewis was not only academically gifted but also musically talented, with a strong interest in anime and manga-a shared passion that had formed the foundation of their friendship.

Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.

"Hey, Sebas, do we have any assignments due today?" Lewis asked.

"I think we have something for Physics and Philosophy. For Physics, we need to answer questions on projectile motion," Sebastian replied.

"What about Philosophy?"

"I'm not too sure. That's why I'm going to ask around," Sebastian admitted.

"Didn't you take any photos of it?" Lewis pressed.

"Nope. I was busy with another assignment when the teacher explained it."

"Ah... Thanks, Sebas." Lewis grinned.

"You're welcome." Sebastian returned the smile and started to get up, planning to ask a few classmates about the Philosophy assignment.

But before he could go, Lewis asked, "Hey Sebas, can I copy your Physics homework?"

"Yeah, sure."

Sebastian reached into his backpack for his notebook when a flashback hit him: a brief vision from the System he created-a memory of an inhabitant in his World being betrayed and stabbed by his own wife. The man, a rebel leader who had overthrown a king who oppressed the poor, had been betrayed in a power grab by the very person he trusted most. The image flickered through Sebastian's mind, then faded as quickly as it had come.

He snapped back to the present and handed the notebook to Lewis, unfazed.

"Here, it's on this page," Sebastian said.

"Thanks, Sebas." Lewis smiled gratefully.

Sebastian gave a quick nod and left to ask

about their Philosophy homework.
